375-mile clue
Solution: Schroon Lake, NY (Adirondack Marathon)
Note: We also see, on the bibs 87 (a reference to I-87 and 74, the road that runs east past Eagle Lake and to the Ti Ferry.
Apparently, this is the final online clue. The “final” clue is essentially the physical sign, already found.
25-mile radius? No.
Also, after the 375-mile clue is solved, we see:

Correction by Dodge on Twitter: When you solve the 5th clue vid it gets you within 375 miles of the Journey, not 25 as was written. More to come. Stay tuned.
Physical Clue, across Ti Ferry in VT
As reported earlier (bejones, 2:24pm), across the Ti Ferry into VT on 74, just before turning south on 73, a sign that reads:
This isnt the end
Its only the beginning
We cant wait to share
Where we went next
the journey is within 350 miles from here
Picture of the same (provide by Doreen Lyon, @jaredlyon’s Mom, on the hunt)
400-mile clue
Solution: Friends Lake, Chestertown, NY
425-mile clue
Solution: Lake George, NY (Queen of American Lakes)
450-mile clue
Solution: Saratoga Springs, NY
500-mile clue
Solution: Albany, NY
Other clues:
Wild West Ranch, Lake George NY
Notes: Are the (missing) letters a clue?
Google street view to verify:
Eagle Lake, NY
Intersection – 74 and 73, across from Ferry, heading toward Mt Independence (south)
Google street view to verify:
From the other side, moving away from the ferry, approaching the intersection (note fish on pole):
Advanced clues (9/23, 10:00pm)
Picture #1 – Malta Drive In Theater, Malta, NY

Notes: The Dodge Journey is north bound (and the bikes are there, just blurred because of the Journey’s speed)
Could this be a reference to Paradox, NY? Paradox Lake? Conflicting directions as a Paradox? Pair of Docks?
Confirming shot:

Picture #2 – Ticonderoga Ferry

Confirming shot:
And for direction (VT side, looking towards NY):

Searching for the 2 posted images. I’m assuming they’re of a Dodge Journey
geocaching.com forum
P.S. In Glenns Falls ! Looking forward to balloon launches at 6:30 am tomorrow
Steven – Yours should be one of the “various sites” they sent the 2 pics to!
I agree!
They’d be posted already …
I’ll take all the websites starting with A. Steven you should take B-Z.
Already have them
Nice work
wow how do you do it??
Malta drive in- NY
Got it and I’ve updated the post.
Very close to the bridge picture – new starting point?
Actually the Malta Drive In is located in Ballston Spa, NY, no?
Hi Barbara. According to their website, they are in Malta: http://www.maltadrivein.com/directions.php Cheers!
Thanks Jane, I found several pics of a Dodge Journey there but nothing that would tell me it was in anyway related to the Journey search, know what I mean?
So, a photo of the Journey on the ferry we already knew it was on. This reeks of radius clue.
That is the state flag of New York flying behind the Journey (pictured with the bikes and family) and the sign says No running on the deck…maybe a boat or ferry boat?
Its the Ticonderoga Ferry for sure – http://vstromerz.smugmug.com/photos/449254040_vJVfL-M.jpg
Picture #2: The sign reads, “No running on deck” – must be on the Ferry to Vermont.
Hi Tinker. It is – adding supporting pics soon
Damn you’re good Steven
What sites were they sent to???
Another question??? Is Beef Jerky a Clue?????
very popular Meat house in Warrensburgh NY Oscars smoke House
Fort Ticonderoga Ferry, crossing Lake Champlain back into Vermont
http://www.wdgah.net/WDGAH11_pics.htm
I would guess Geocaching.com as that’s where the image is located (if you right click to “view image” in the URL bar it’ll say the address of where the image is.
Correct. West finder was a geocacher.
West finder posted on that thread (where the two photos are). Very excited.
The best FTF prize ever.
I’m guessing the title of the “movie” on the drive-in sign refers to Paradox Lake in the area?
That’s a very good catch fellow blogger
Just throwing out another thought about the beef jerkey Dodge mentioned in a reply on the YouTube discussion board: There are at least three beef jerkey companies in Vermont, located in Orleans, Swanton, and Richmond. None are close by the ferry, but I guess it depends on the radius.
TOLD YA SO, LMAO
There have been discussions regarding the paradoxes in the commercial, e.g. like being there is not like being there, and paradox / paradox lake.
DUH! I’m so slow; I just now saw your caption underneath the drive-in photo suggesting Paradox Lake. Sorry about that!
No worries
I added the pic. Updated. Paused. And updated again. Cheers!
Think the beef jerky sentence is an anagram
OK, definitely North through Malta, en route to Saratoga…
The earlier images that steven has posted of the barbeque joint is 2.5 miles north of the drive in theater.
Panoramio shot of the Ferry boarding. http://www.panoramio.com/photo/22351242
The Panoramio shot is from the VT side.
Perfect. That’s the VT side, facing NY. Def the direction they’re heading …
why is the “A” missing in the sign?…it isn’t missing in street view
Street view is 2 years old (2009). If you search google, you can find some progression shots over time.
the a was damaged at one point recently
whoops…confirming shot above seems like it is missing the A
nice work on the pics. How did you know it was on the geocaching site?
Because someone directed me to shots via email (and I’m particularly grateful
)
How are we able to determine the direction they are heading on the ferry? Are you using the flags on the boat?
I used google street view from both ends to confirm which shot Tinker provided (from panoramio).
so you believe that the Dodge photo depicts the car traveling from NY to VT, or is that just the direction you believe the panoramio pic is from?
Actually, I need to give that a bit of thought … may have rushed to judgement. We have two aspects to consider: 1) Landscape view; 2) Blue flags are on the same side (south) …
i think the landscape is the best way to try to figure out this direction
@Steve – The flags are not on the ferry today. But using binoculars, we looked at the painted signs next to them. In the pic, the top skinny sign is at a slight slope compared to the one below it. These signs are on the northwest corner of the ferry. So based on that, they Journey is heading east, to VT. Lady pointing in direction of cruise boat. Maybe telling child “look” or that they will be riding on it soon? Still thinking this might be a jag to the right, and then retreat into VT. You would have to drive past the roadsigns to get to the parking lot for the cruise. No other clues so far have been in VT. We sit now and ponder. But I can tell you this, the ferry owner is going to make a killing too. And if anyone gets the chance, PJ’s has the best ribs in the country.
Always great getting reports from boots on the ground. Thanks for the update and agree they’re moving into VT … and I haven’t seen anyone tie the beef jerky reference to NY, but like you, esp with the Paradox reference, I tend to be on the fence (or between the pair of docs … LOL) Cheers!
They are heading to Vt- the life preserver box and the signage on the guardrail match the photo with the Subaru wit Vt plates, and that photo also clearly shows the Vt signage. Notice the skipper house for ferry would be in the shot of the Journey were they to be headed to NY..
There is also a large white box on the southeast corner of the ferry hanging on the guardrail that is absent on the northwest corner. There is no white box in the Journey photo. The NW corner has the ‘no running’ ignage, while the SE corner does not…
hmm what to make of the whole beef jerky reference?
Where were the two pictures posted? I see them, but I wish I could find where Dodge put em
Geocaching site: http://forums.groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?showtopic=282538&pid=4850235&st=0&#entry4850235
i was trying to use the flags as reference too, but look at this picture (http://www.forttiferry.com/) it looks like the blue flags may not just be on one corner
LOL. I’ve changed my mind & comment a couple of times. I have one shot with the blue flags on diagonal (which doesn’t help) and on the same side (which would). Switching to landscape …
any chance someone can dig up prevailing winds for this area?
I found a site saying “prevailing winds in the summer months are southerly…”
…so VT to NY?
I think, though you all should probably run this theory through, that in the Dodge photo they are heading East. From what I can tell in the various identified-direction-photos (and what logic tells me) that the NY flag is on the NY side of the ferry and the VT flag on the VT side. So if the pulled onto the ferry from NY then the flag should be behind them. What do you think?
That would make sense. It’s a shame the flags are both blue and similar –
VT flag: http://www.bestmadeflags.com/images/Vermont%20Flag.GIF
NY flag: http://wwp.greenwichmeantime.com/time-zone/usa/new-york/images/new-york-state-flag.jpg
From a distance, look below the crest. If it’s white, it’s NY, if it’s red, it’s VT.
geocaching.com
I have an account and I am an avid geocacher. But there is no way to search for those pics on the site. Perhaps there is a clue IN a geocache… There are hundreds in the area.
We are debating which way on the ferry they go WHEN in all aspects we know they hit the Vermont side of the ferry going east by the signs stating 3 cities in Vermont. Why are we 2nd guessing.
Hi Ace and fair question. My take: 1) We have them driving west by eagle lake, NY (a contradiction); 2) because it is widely believed that the bike shot location was identified (and that it may have been the final location), they may have changed up things … so, direction may be relevant. For example, if they’re heading to NY, it would support a plan b. Cheers!
Adirondack makes a Mountain bike. My idea is the 1 clue is on the bike again BUT THE BIKE ITSELF Adirondack NOW I have 2 theories Your theory of Eagle Lake going back west on 74 to 9 and south There is Adirondacks. But dont like that 1 cause to much back track Number 2 Adirondacks Park South on Vermont side with a Dolph Pond off Dolph Pond Road is the view from video over water and into the park. JUST A THOUGHT. SOUTH 2 ways into the Park 22A on Vermont side and South on 22 on NY side
The ferry direction is easily determined. The New York flagged end of the ferry touches NY soil. The Vermont flagged end of the ferry touches Vermont soil. The Journey is facing away from the NY flag, therefore, they are headed toward Vermont.
It is def an NY flag in the Journey shot.
ferry direction isnt that easy, a number of photos have NY flags on opposite corners. look ath the pics on this site: http://www.forttiferry.com/
Hello, DPNJ12. None of the photos in the link you provided disputes my assertion. NY flag on one end, VT flag on the other. None of the pics in the link provided show NY on opposite corners. Look a bit closer.
1) If you look on this blog here:
http://bikeformission.blogspot.com/
This is from last year, and you can clearly see both ends of the ferry: on each end is an american flag, and a NY flag.
2) There are no bikes in the Malta picture (going N) but in the TK bridge picture (going S) there is…
3) Dodge stated that they sent those pictures to “various sites”. Has anyone found them anywhere else yet, except the geocaching site?
Those links you all provided are great! Look very closely. It is the American flag and NY flag on one end and American flag and VT on the other. Always on opposite sides.
lmt, again, look closer. Yes they are both blue. Just like many other state’s flags are blue. But one is VT (red below the crest) and one is NY (white below the crest).
Compare the other objects on the NW and SE corners of the ferry- the signs, the white box hanging over the guardrail. The jorney photo was shot on the NW corner of the ferry, suggesing the vehicle is facing East, headed for Vt..
Would they have given the New Malta Drive IN pic as a layout to change the final destination as in miles Since the PJ BBQ is 2.5 miles from the Drive IN
http://www.vermonter.com/beefjerky/ in Orleans, Vermont
& http://www.rosiesjerky.com/ in Swanton, VT
I think part of the ‘Paradox’ clue is that the clues are in paradox – you have to commit to going east or west to search and the ferry ride makes it very hard to change your mind. I also like the Paradox lake tie in.
So the two clues are paradox and ferry docks.
Hi David. I would add just a bit to that. With the drive in theater, in close proximity to PJs barbecue, with a northbound direction. The same direction as it passes the Magic Forest (Uncle Sam). The paradox certainly connects with a number of observations in the east search: paradoxes in the commercial (perhaps), Paradox, NY. further west beyond Eagle Lake, NY. With the ferry, we don’t seem to gain too much
Cheers!
I’ve had a thought concerning,”‘Like being there,’ is not like being there,” that I thought of with the Midwest search (since we were out searching) and have read comments that seem to have relevance for the East search. I recognized OKC from the shot, I’ve been there a number of times, but I didn’t recognize the large black tower so it threw me off. I also couldn’t find the tower in the street view. Didn’t find out until we drove by that they were building a new tower downtown. It seems Dodge is sometimes using locations that you actually have to “be there” to confirm what’s real today.
what happened to the photos?
What do you mean?
Is it my browser? I saw the photos you posted (plus the verifying photos) but now I just see the verification ones and not the originals. I even closed and reopened browser and they aren’t there. Is it me?
Maybe. I double checked via direct access: http://img.geocaching.com/cache/edc84909-52d2-4443-a1dc-20db64368c71.jpg to be sure the host site didn’t start to block (and I downloaded just in case)
I brought up a IE and loaded and they are there. Guess it’s my firefox for some reason
Sorry.
I don’t think it matters which direction the ferry is going since the shot from the commercial is going into Vermont. There is no way to know which way they’re going even if you can determine the ferry’s direction. The fact that we have them so far west of the ferry and then going east presents the ultimate paradox. Pick one side, folks, and good luck.
Quite right. First the 2010 movie was called “Paradox” not the Paradox. So, we have the Journey going in three directions. That’s the Paradox.
Do you think the photo of them removing the bikes is Mount Independence and if so will they still leave the car there or go with a Plan B? (Seems like it would be a lot of extra work for them to come up with a Plan B at this point given their investment in the commercials they started making last year).
Hi Matt. I’d like to believe they have a built in contingency (the original shots show the paradox, i.e three different directions); the bike shot was wide, exposing it to discovery (and it’s been almost a week); and we’ve always seen the family exiting. Time will tell. Cheers!
I wonder if they are hiding two Journeys? The word is that there is “no need to redo the Midwest Journey search.” http://blogs.automotive.com/update-dodge-not-re-hiding-second-journey-ohp-releases-details-57707.html Maybe they are going to hide a Journey at both ends of the split-direction clues….
BTW- The film crew apparently told the press they had been in Albany NY before driving up to Saratoga Springs, this news article supports what you’ve already discovered: http://www.saratogian.com/articles/2011/08/30/news/doc4e5c53ba643e1756380159.txt?viewmode=fullstory
Keep up the great work!
Yeah Matt. We caught that article. See: http://stevenbarley.net/2011/09/15/dodge-journey-search-east/ Cheers!
I have a photo that will verify that they are heading toward VT. The sign next to the lifesaver circle is on the right of the circle. That one is on the cable side where the tug is. The other side, which is open, has the sign on the left side of the circle. If you’d like the photo, let me know
Fire away
I can’t find your email addy….is it @stevenbarley.net?
Either steve.barley@rivhs.com or puzzles2crack@yahoo.com
How many views to your awesome blog so far?
Congrats, I’m having too much fun with all this.Thanks.
Thanks and same here. (And with National Treasure running back to back, it’s been an esp fun night)
It just hit me. The clue isn’t which direction the ferry is heading. The clue is the ferry itself! The Journey can be spotted from the ferry and only from the ferry! The place to be at 12:00 is the ferry!
LOL. Forget the search, I’m buying all the tickets now and selling to highest bidder !!!! ROFL
It does seem we have to pick a “side” and go with it… interesting.
The ferry picture – what if the paradox is that the car is parked backwards on purpose?
I don’t imagine that would be too difficult since it looks like it’s the only vehicle on there.
This is awesome; a ton of fun! Hitting the road in a couple hours. Can’t wait!!! Thank you, Steven.
Anyone able to make out what that is in the reflection on the side of the car?
The Dodge Journey is in Green Mountain National Forrest, Vermont… The other two were both found on the boarders of two states… California and Nevada (#1) and Oklahoma and Texas (#2).
So based on the Malta, NY picture and the map showing the Green Mountain forrest off to the east and NY, VT & MA meeting at that location.
GO GET IT!! I wish I was close to VT!!
I have been following this thread rather religiously, and it is so much fun! However, the inconsistencies have been driving me crazy, such as the direction across the Twin Bridges and Lake view drive, Eagle Lake, NY. The direction seems as though it could be either way, as both N and S roads curve after the bridge ends and both have signs that match the photo. As far as Eagle Lake, NY I have looked on Google maps street view, and no matter how I look I do not see the same mountain on the south side as is shown in the street view on the images posted. Also it appears there is no where for grass to grow along the south side of the lake, and there are clearly grasses in the commercial. Plus, the fact that the bikes disappear in the Malta photo drives me nuts. I would love to hear your opinions!
Sorry, I take back the Eagle Lake comment! I had maps incorrectly zoomed! My apologies, looks like I need more sleep, and less hunting.
Hi Krystie and you’re absolutely right re: the inconsistencies, some might describe as a Paradox
Just FYI, I believe the bikes are in the Malta shot (like the scene driving by Magic Forest, they’re going fast enough to create a blur … tough to see in a low-res still). Cheers!
LOL! Just saw a NEW Commercial for the Journey on the travel channel! They are “shaking” things up!
Details !!!! We were watching for the commercial all night, never saw it.
Mike..If I see it again I will be sure to let you know. It caught me by suprise and I didn’t pay much attention right away. I doubt they will put it on youtube though…I already looked there.
p.s. I am not on location….just A casual observer;)
Why does my comment still say Awaiting moderation??
Hi Rob and sorry about that … manual moderation. My way of ensuring all contributors are friendly, courteous and respectful.
Cheers!
personally I think you all going on a wild goose chase up north. My bet is on a place called journeys end lake new york, its 42 miles from the world financial center in new york city. Although they were talking about beef jerky and all that, I think that is the scenic route. who knows, maybe theyll put it on a boat in the middle of the lake. It would be a nice twist. There are still kayaks in back of the journey. Maybe you have to kayak to it. LOL good luck alllllllllll
Definitely won’t be fitting kayaks in the back with kids in the second row
Good luck all. Wish I could see the new commercials haven’t seen one since Sunday…lol…I guess they don’t need to show them to the West Coasters.
This Dodge dealer will give the winner a $500 gas card if they’re a fan, so if you think you’ll win might as well like them: http://www.facebook.com/CrowleyChryslerJeepDodge?sk=wall
How about this? The Paradox = the pair o’ docks
what map showing green mountain forest to the east are you referring to?
Just posting to try to get email subscription to work. Don’t mind me. Nothing to see here.
Just wanted to say thanks Steven Barley!! You have really helped our Journey!
Hi Patty and my pleasure.
Best of luck!
Trying again (sorry)
The Paradox = The Pair a Docks. Meaning? Pair of Docks at the Ti Ferry. Distance clue
Hi. Someone mentioned that earlier and it certainly can’t be ruled out. Cheers!
Notice the NYS flag behind the Journey. This flag is not on the ferry. It must have been added for the shot. The Journey is definately pointed to VT (confirmed just now in person). Could it signify NY is “behind them”? Or could it be just a day trip excursion to the sight-seeing boat docked on the VT side along with the ferry? Remember, the family IS camping. But no camping equipment packed into the car. We have some idears (that “ideas” with a southern NY accent).
I stand corrected. There are four flag poles at the corners of the ferry. They do not have any flags on them today.
The contents of the historical marker in the Malta photo:
Malta Drive-In Signs
Open-Air Theater Started In 1949
By Sarto And Leona Smaldone,
Drive-In Purchased In 1988 By
Brothers Ed And Tom Caro,
In Operation For Over 50 Years.
I doubt there’s any clue in that, but maybe someone else will see something.
Interesting how Dodge just released the links to the photos
Yeah (and I just grabbed the high-res versions from them
)
I just sent my uncle and aunt into Vermont. They left there house at 3am from NY. Thanks to all of you
Hi Ken. Best of luck to them!
same here. forgot to subscribe.
me too. : )
http://t.co/A8vI2yI looks familiar
Great pic Brian. The real question is: are you northbound or southbound?
If you look at the map on the under the pictures on this sight… You see the marker for the Malta Drive-in… Just to the east of that is the Green Mountain National Forrest
At the bottom of the Green Mountain Forrest NY, VT & MA come together. The last two Journey;s were positioned at the borders of states. This is were this vehicle will be, if i was close enough I would be there!!
Oh,,, and the last two were in National parks
First Journey was in Eldorado National Forrest in Ca/NV boarder… the second was in Black Kettle National Grasslands Ok/TX boarder.
If you want the 3rd one… Go to Green Mountain National Forrest
I doubt I’ll win, but in the spirit of the competition, I’m gonna go out there and probably just travel straight up Route 9 from Albany to Lake George. Maybe I’ll catch a scent of the car’s trail.
Be safe. Best of luck to you.
just talked to my uncle he is in Vermont and weather is rainy. Be safe everyone looking.
Has anyone got any more info on the beef jerky hint via dodge
In the ferry pic the woman is pointing…I wonder at what.
Here’s a good observation someone (Crystal) shared with me. The woman looks different from the one in the commercials …
Correction – it is the same woman. Watch the video at 0:24 (part of the east sequence and only good shot of the whole family). You can’t tell she has her hair pulled back but the shirt is a match.
She is pointing at boat used for the Carillon Cruses lake tours. Replican of 1920′s 1000-Island boat. Wooden. Unique. I think its a possible day trip. They are NOT dressed for a day of mountainbiking. And what to do with the kids? Hmmmm,.,,A pair a docks. Get it?
Steven… you are right.. It does look like her hair is pulled back. The shirt is the same.
I’m sure you noticed, but your confirming shot of the dock shows the directional signs from the other photo. Does this helps with anything? http://www.driveinmovie.com/NY/
Ken, there is a Vermont Beef Jerky Co. in Orleans Vermont.
Sitting at GMC dealer…. my driver window just went off track and is stuck down !!! good sign?
Thanks ANN I will look into it now
Uncle in Rutland buying cell phone car charger
orleans to malta is exactly 200 miles by route of the ti ferry.. coincidence??
Hi Eddie. A couple of thoughts. They have never gone by driving distance, rather distance as the crow flies … and they’ve always been under the max radius. Cheers!
what do you think steve?
There is a “Paradox” Lake in NY right off 74 on the way to the Ticondrega ferry onto VT.
Quite right and Paradox (east of the lake) … Cheers!
Just wanted to update you ….we are at the Ti Library…kind of surprised how quiet it is here…lol…we have driven around Eagle and Paradox and see some trucks parked checking out maps and talking on cell phones…but not as busy out here as we expected…
Hi Patty and thanks for the update. They have free wi-fi there, don’t they?
Very VERY curious about the comment left here by Misty :”Just saw a NEW Commercial for the Journey on the travel channel! They are “shaking” things up!” Anyone have any further information on this? I cannot find any videos online or on the TV.
I have several that have mentioned that now. I have seen a new commercial (Thursday night) but it doesn’t end with … and we left one right here. That will prob be the commercial they run after this weekend. However, they typically launch the 200 or 300 mile clue as commercial the weekend of … catching it may be advantageous. I have the TV on (travel channel) ready to record …
I”ve been following along this blog since the midwest hunt, and I wish good luck to everyone out there. I have a gut feeling that the car is in the Adirondacks, not Vermont. This is based on the photographs, the elevation of the photos, the trees, etc. I was up through the Adirondacks three weeks ago, visiting my kid who goes to school upstate. We will find out soon I guess. I look forward to helping out today. Good luck!
Steven,
Do you think that the people saying Journey’s End, NY could be the place could be accurate?
Hi Teresa. So far, they have not been so clever with the final destination. Anything is possible however. Cheers!
I keep thinking it will be in one state, if for no other reason than it would cause a massive traffic jam at the ferry, and even more so, people with no patience. Either one could prove to be a nightmare for local law enforcement and/or locals, and I doubt Dodge would want bad publicity.
agreed there are precious few crossings up there from VT to NY. Make the wrong decision, and your pretty much out of the running from the beginning.
The definition of paradox on wikipedia: “A paradox is a seemingly true statement or group of statements that lead to a contradiction or a situation which seems to defy logic or intuition. Typically however, quoted paradoxical statements do not imply a real contradiction and the puzzling results can be rectified by demonstrating that one or more of the premises themselves are not really true, a play on words, faulty and/or cannot all be true together.”
What clue looks to be true but really is not, but when combined all together makes it seem true?
And the clues themselves have the Journey (literally) driving in all directions.
Hi, Barbara,
I have a theory on “What clue looks to be true but really is not, but when combined all together makes it seem true?” I don’t want to post anything until the search goes live and a couple of clues have been released, but I will post more then. Not trying to be coy, just don’t want to send anyone in the wrong direction if I’m off base. I will say that it leads me to think the Journey is not in the Mt. Independence area. But who knows? Damn, this is fun!
BTW, I’m not in the chase, just obsessed like everyone else.
Also, has anyone confirmed that if a contest starts in one state it has to finish in that state??
Hi Teresa and no, there has not been a confirmation, we only have precedence. However, we do know that at least they move into VT. Cheers!
Amazed at the lengths some people will go to in this game. Found this picture of the Fort Ti Ferry signs on another site:
http://s1178.photobucket.com/albums/x375/Aqua7sport/?action=view¤t=OurVermontTrip1006.jpg
Hadrian
have the kayaks been used in the two previous journeys? i feel as though the state line being in lake champlain may have something to do with something..
Hi Eddie. Kayaks were the theme for the West search. Cheers!
as well as notice in the video of the bikes being taken off of the roof of the car, you can make out in the background a lake with a taller mountain all the way in the background, and what seems to be an island. this must fall somewhere on the VT side of Lake Champlain.
does anyone know the exact distance from malta to the border of canada at the top of lake champlain? “as the crow flies?”
Using the Google Earth ruler, it’s between 142 and 143 miles “as the crow flies”, from Malta NY to the Canadian border on the west shore of Lake Champlain.
Uncle in Grenn Mount National Park right now. God I hope it is not on the other side of lake.
FYI -the Adirondack Park is the largest STATE park in the US. Junk food for thought.
they have to going to someplace that allows mountain biking, they are mountain bikes after all.
But not on the ferry trip, I believe. What to do with the kids? Ferry trip is a distraction.
I agree. They might go through VT, but they don’t end up there. Dodge had to know the East contest would be crazy. Its a way to split the competitors in half, I guess.
I have all numbered Bike trails and Horseback trails in Green Mountain orest
im in mount independence state park. found where they take the bikes off. anyone have anyfurther info?
Yes. Its not in Mt. Indepenence park. Think about it. The park closes, but the contest doesn’t.
im swimming the lake if its on the other side lol
Anyone know of a place up there that has day camp activities for children, as well as mountain biking trails? After all, there are no child seats on the back of the bikes, so they would have to drop the 2 kids off somewhere before they go mountain biking.
How long has the “2nd Journey Found” video on the Youtube site been gone? Thought I watched it yesterday but maybe not.
Hadrian
the person who found it had insider info.. he worked for the OK state troops
I knew that…but why did it take them 3 days to take it down from when we found out he had declined the prize?
Hadrian
You caught that, eh, Hadrian?
They took it down Thursday. I kept checking the site … knew it had to come down soon.
My guess is that it is near Kingsland Bay state Park VT overlooking Lake Champlain and Split Rock Mountain NY.
If there is a film called “The Paradox” i can’t find it anywhere.
Hi Ann. It’s just called Paradox (2010). That was a clue (commercials were filmed about a month ago). Cheers!
Hi Steve,
Kudos for being the first, by far, to find, investigate and post the advance pics. I believe the bikes are photochopped out of the Malta picture due to the uneven blurring immediatly above the roof. Is something being hidden….
Hi Raj and thanks. Check out the hi-res version: http://stevenbarley.files.wordpress.com/2011/09/malta-large.png I’m pretty sure that because they’re focused on the Malta sign, and the rate of speed for the Journey, they’re naturally blurred out. Even the Journey is a bit blurry, but it’s large and red. The bikes are black and thin. Cheers!
Can we find the guy walking in that pic? Maybe he knows something
Maybe we should ask the guy in the “M LTA” picture where they took it
Hadrian
I was wrong. http://static.panoramio.com/photos/original/20305565.jpg. That backdrop looks very similar to the final bike rack shot. Lake Iroquois it is.
On top of Mt. Defiance. Can hear drums from fort. Can’t see a thing.
Good luck MikeK and everyone else out there. Keep looking! Will post on here if I find anything that might be helpful.
So the bike is a high end Trek model:http://www.jejamescycles.co.uk/product-images-large/trek-fuel-ex-8-black-mountain-bike-59017.jpg. I selected this photo, because the bottom of the logo matchs the logo on the bike that the guy is taking off the Journey. Its a serious bike. Don’t know where that gets us, other than its not a bike you ride with kids in the back seat.
The first two Journeys were hidden on very small, dead-end roads that looked like they went to private property. My advice would be to pick an area where you think it’s hidden, then search every small dirt road…..unless “no trespassing” signs are posted. Respect the local property owners.
Karen,
I’m still liking the end of Bearor Rd just east of Lake Dunmore. It’s also in the Green Mountain National Forest.
Hadrian
Good advice Karen and worth mentioning: even the first property was private (rented) with no trespassing signs that were covered up.
Yes, and both places were very obscure and out-of-the-way spots. Not places that have lots of visitors annually or that would be recognizable. Hadrian, Green Mtn. National Forest looks promising, but I’m non-committal about whether the hiding spot is in NY or VT. Wouldn’t want to send searchers off in the wrong direction!
Ferry is free today.
Reference to ” like being there is not like being there” could mean you’re actually there and not “liking it on Facebook.
Hi Jason. You’re the second person to mention that … great to hear. Now, if they would just add another b/c I think they’ll need it
I dunno if you people are being intentionally funny, but some of these comments are hilarious. (MikeK, Hadrian, Ryan) It’s a great way to start the day…..laughing.
We have a great group here
with the right attitude … After all, there can only be one winner (of the car). The true reward is the adventure, the experience and the memories (and making friends too).
I was just thinking the same thing, Steven. Great group! This is great fun!
I want to hear the person that wins thank Steven after saying “this is my journey”.
I would SO do it Ann!
The location of the East Coast Dodge Journey car is ********* 261 Dynamite Hill Road Hinesburg, VT 05461 *******
http://p.rdcpix.com/v01/lc8bb4443-m1x.jpg
The house is for sale and a perfect location to stage the car, trailers, crew etc.
There is an area that I found days ago on the Northeast corner of Paradox Lake with two clearings divided by a stand of trees. It is also near a mountain bike trail head. If you look in that photo you can see him taking the bike off in an open area, but in the right hand side of the screen there is another clearing through the trees. I believe the shot of them taking the mountain bikes off of the Journey is from this location. Since it is almost contest time, I figured that I would finally share with the group. I think the Paradox reference ties to this puzzle and not to the differences in direction that Dodge seems to be using to confuse everyone. Again, I’m an armchair player like many others, or am I….that’s a paradox. Are all my posts really just red herrings, did I really figure out the efix data and the lat/long of where the picture was taken??? LOL!
Update to all just spoke with uncle, hiking , just found multiple vehicles and 2 vermont Police parked in area. Cant give much more info with out clueing people in I have been working this all morning.
That would be cool if your uncle found it Ken! Now he’ll just have to wait a few minutes more for it to “go live”, then step in and claim it!
Thanks Steve and others that can not make the trip that are spending there time and energy on this to help us that are out there having a blast getting muddy
Not puttg all eggs in 1 basket I just sent him to a area 5 miles away to look around.
Ken,
Have them take a look at 261 Dynamite Hill Road Hinesburg, VT 05461.
http://p.rdcpix.com/v01/lc8bb4443-m1x.jpg
http://i54.tinypic.com/2qxas09.jpg
Cell phone coverage is sketchey, and no internet, but I am having a blast helping my Uncle do this Hunt.
Let me see how close Dynamite Hill Road is to where we are searching
I don’t think anyone has mentioned that the very 1st scene in the original video is at Eagle lake = and they are going east? The order in the 1st video is:
1) eastbound at Eagle lake
2) vermont sign
3) new york bridge
4) uncle sam going north on 9
Does this point to a different start point, maybe paradox lake? They go down to NY city, then back up north. Maybe they end where theey started, paradox lake? Wouldn’t that be a hoot!
Hi John. See my first post on the East search clues: http://stevenbarley.net/2011/09/15/dodge-journey-search-east/ They are, in fact, traveling west by Eagle Lake. With this search, unlike the others, they have given us three conflicting directions. Cheers!
actually in the new video for the 500 mile clue, they go east past Eagle Lake first and then it looks like they turn around and go back west at some point
Car Tranporter spoted on back road
Sitting with my co-journeyman at The Hot Biscuit with wifi in Ticonderoga waiting for the videos to start…. Good luck everyone!
And good luck to you Bryan. Cheers!
besides Ken’s uncle, who else here is “boots on the ground”?
We are! We’re on the VT side right now, and staying here.
just lost service with them
How about some pics from the boots on the ground? Would like to see the line up at the Ferry docks!
Vermont police in cars on main rd into area we are searching. uncle thinks they are just watching trafic.
My uncle is using a cell phone with out tex at this point. Had to buy a car charger eairler so cell phone with texting cap. is charging
That is hilarious!!!
Just as expected…. Albany…. man we are good.
We have to find that intersection in the last shot… there is a barn in the background.
the 5th clue is at 375 miles. this one’s going to be hard.
GPS coordinates. Put it in google earth and you will see the final location. You can also see the house betwen the treeline in the final shot.
http://i54.tinypic.com/2qxas09.jpg
44°21’56.47″N
73° 5’40.37″W
My brother just looked and said he knows where it is. My husband was looking just a few miles down the road. Fingers crossed!
Kate,
So any luck?
I feel like we are SOOOO close! Not found yet though!
Well…Detroit is within the 500 mile radius
Hadrian
I got first clue – Williamsburg section of Brooklyn.
Welll Dodge is smart than we think! A barn, and a 500 mile clue!
Yeah Hahaha Probably saw how smart we were and had to do a game change. LOL
Albany, NY is first pin
That Wild West Ranch is in Lake George, NY
1st commercial…..Barn with Silo visible behind Journey at intersection. Perhaps?
any help with that intersection would be great… Thanks… A barn? 500 MILES? THIS IS GOINT TO TAKE A WHILE
We’re working on it Ken… none of the clues in the new video are new cities other than that last shot… Will keep you posted… Albany, Malta/Sarasota Springs, Lake George, Ticonderoga…. We’ll get it…
the intersection is in Vt at 74 and 73
Does anyone know why I can never get the clues to play ?
You have to select the 500 mile clue (video). Watch it to the end. The video will be replaced with a red screen with a question.
Just doesn’t work I get how to then it is just buffering, no video.
I am not getting the red screen??? why?? I am at the ti library and other groups have already left with their clues??
Never mind I just watched it here (thanks Steven).
Glad i know the place its at!
I though a lot of those shots would look familiar to you Mike
I like how it says “we left this one SOMEWHERE”
the car sitter is wearing an I love NY tshirt
An “I love NY” shirt??? That’s what I call a CLUE
Live – Cowboy is wearing a shirt that says “I heart NY.”
Boots on the ground here. Eagle lake new york. This is going to take forever. Do you think they packed up and went south? There are people everywhere here
Google street view shows that horse/wild west sign at the intersection where the Magic Forest is.
Do the gloves and the roll of black tape he has on him mean anything?
The new Wild West Ranch clue is in Lake George, Rt 9 & Bloody Pond Rd. Look at Their website http://www.wildwestranch.com/ — looks like a place with a lot of old west “staged” barns!
I heart NY t-shirt…these guys are hilarious!!
Hadrian
Need a high res still of the Wild West Ranch sign…definitely a clue in those letters.
Hadrian
New updates: 500-mile video clue; Wild West Ranch, Lake George, NY; Eagle Lake, NY (East bound now)
Hi Steve,
Yes, I see the car is blurry too. But, the spot above it is blurred at the same rate, if you will. Now, in the video, we can see the two bike shadows following the car’s roof line. So, either they are photochopped out or the camera resolution is not great enough to pick them up at speed.
tHANKS bEN
Sorry for the caps
The Final image is the turn from 74 to 73S… in VT…. right after the ferry….. 43.85681, -73.36636
Absolutely correct Ben. Just updated post.
Look at the number and shape of the highway signs in the last frame of the video compared to the location you identify in Google maps street view. They don’t seem to match.
Tha building sound small, when he shut the rear door
I hope its in Detroit or West Virginia or even North carolina just to make this thing drag on and make it interesting!
http://historicvermont.com/coolidge/barn.html
Maybe?
Maybe – but from the site : “Fortunately, the Calvin Coolidge Homestead and village received no structural damage during this current storm. However, due to road and bridge closures and power lines down, the site is temporarily closed until further notice.”
Temporarily closed to public? Might be the perfect hiding place
You can see older wagon wheels, etc., in clue #2. Those would be included in a historic barn display.
Added new intersection shot. Seems to be on the VT side. Need to confirm.
Steve, any way to get some type picture of the other side of the Wild West Ranch sign? Think there are jumbled letters on that side as well.
Thanks,
Hadrian
I think it says something about “Go Right”
Bravo Dodge/partners – the 375 mile 5th clue and inside location are great strokes. While it’s likely that it’s still somewhere where Steven and others reasoned, they could have turned the tables and gone anywhere. Really inspired.
Thanks Steve I am trying to work the letters on the sign. Might not help
It’s the turn from 74 to 73S… in VT…. right after the ferry….. If you go to 3668-4330 Vermont 74 Shoreham, VT 05770 on google maps you can look back at the turn…
I agree. Look at the fish as well.
Good eye spotting the fish on the utility pole… I’ve noticed the images from the Dodge videos are always zoomed in much more than how things appear on street view but that’s definitely it
And don’t forget. You can switch to hi-res 1080i on these videos. The fish pole is the right intersection. Verified from the other direction.
I just sent my husband down that road. On google maps there doesn’t seem to be a barn when you virtually drive down the road a ways… I’ll update soon on what he thinks. He’s got one other location near there that my brother thinks he should look at again (he did a quick drive by and didn’t see anything the first time).
Looks like a fish on the tele pole at the intersection.
if you look in the reflection of the car you can see the door is directly behind it , there are 2 window on the side and someone else is with him in the room because i saw 2 figures moving around.
There is the top of a building – a barn, perhaps? – visible at the end of the first clue. Think that’s the barn it’s in?
I get the feeling that the intersection at the end of the video is in the northern reaches of Vermont or New York…I know the guy was wearing an I <3 NY shirt, but I've gone through northern Vermont to Canada before and the mountains kind of stop, leaving large grassy plains. That's what the intersection reminds me of. It seems that shot would be looking south-ish.
Final intersection identified at end of video. Across the ferry at 74 and 73. Google street view added to verify.
Where are you seeing clues other than the one of the barn??? Please share.
Hi. They’ve added new video segments to the 500-mile clue. If you’re familiar with the original commercial, you’ll recognize what’s new. Cheers!
Ah I see you’ve already deduced that last shot. Well done.
Hi Steve, I solved the first clue and I thought I would then be allowed to see the next clue. Any Idea why this did not happen? Thanks Lawanna– Helping Patty
They wised up and are deliberately pacing the contest. Next clue will be released at 1pm. Cheers!
Steve I do not see the lift pole in your street view on the Dodge pic of same intersection
Has anyone tried enhancing the reflection from the headlight on the live shot?
I’ve watched that carefully. You can see the reflection of the immediate pole and another further back, plus part of the roof. Also, if you watch it closely, you can see people moving around
My apology, I see the lift pole in the video now.
No worries Ken
I saw interesting thought from someone on youtube that the barn was too clean/neat/same wood color, etc. Speculated this was a prop. I find that plausible, but maybe a “display” barn for some type of exhibit.
So does this mean its definitely in vermont?
There are a dozen or so farms off of 73 that would still have the view looking west from the original commercial. My guess, check whichever one doesn’t have a landowner blocking the way
Possibly in cooperstown at the farmers muesem.
I live just a few minutes from Albany and i 100% recognized the brownstones at the begining. Literally thousands of barns out here but this one looks like its used for shows. I have a couple close by places im gonna check. Im thinking 500 mile round trip. I was at Albany dodge 3 days ago hoping to see a new srt charger and there was a strange looking trailer and fleet in the back corner locked up.
I thought eagle lake was on the left going west. It looked that way in person
Clue 2 solved: Saratoga Springs, NY
3.6 L VVT
It’s in Vermont.
My guess- it’s been put on an upper floor of a barn. Notice the floor slats, plus most hay is stored in a hay loft on the 2nd floor.
It looks like there’s a reflection from the outside and that could be from the loft door being open. If you walk in a barn, go up to the hay loft!
That barn that it is in for Clue 2 does not look the same as the one in the live shot.
Saratoga Race Course
So, right Johnny
Saratoga Springs, NY second clue
Clue 1: Albany, Clue 2: Malta/Sarasota Springs, Clue 3: Lake George, Clue 4: Ticonderoga…. we’ve known this for a week… lol
maybe clue 5 is Shoreham, VT…. but seems awful close…
saratoga springs, ny
Saratoga Springs is clue #2
I am trying to find another of the “Wild West Ranch” signs and see what, if any, letters are missing. The missing ones can be a clue.
I looked at that. One one side, you had E, R T, BQ IB … on the other ?W IS, GL G, CASE … ending in IB isn’t a good sign though
They are probably scrambled. Do you know what the sign originally said prior to this? Plus, I bet they are put in some kind of order for a reason, with the spacing the way it is.
If you use just the letters that are there you can get: BBQ and Tire. Future clue references?
The sign normally has complete words on it (see Google Street View). I think that strategically placed letters on the sign (both sides) to hide some clue.
Hadrian
Well, we have about 45 minutes to give that a look b/c there isn’t anything new to work with … LOL
Added 450-mile clue and solution: Saratoga Springs, NY
I still think the car is here 261 Dynamite Hill Road Hinesburg, VT 05461
Where are you getting that from?
http://p.rdcpix.com/v01/lc8bb4443-m15m.jpg
2 windows on the side just like the reflection on the car.
Looks more like a portable light kit to me…
I’m beginning to think that the Eagle Lake run was a deviation like the Midwest drive and MB sign intersection in the Midwest search …
This is somewhat insane. Mad props to whoever finds what building it is sitting in.
Don’t you think this looks just like the far shot of the barn at the end of the commercial!?… ok wait, how do you post a picture?
Possible Barn….From hint on dodge youtube stream and web search:
http://shelburnemuseum.org/explore/buildings/?gallery#round-barn-horizgallery
Anyone near the Shelburne Museum to check?
It’s an actual museum on the inside… quilts and stuff on the walls..
Roof line isn’t the same. That’s round vs. peaked
Added google street view of Wild West Ranch to verify. Are the letters a clue?
well the 375 mi clue is going to be somewhere around Ticonderoga, either Eagle Lake or Mt. Indy. But that still leaves a 375 mi search area….. they could seriously be making the 100 mi and 75 mi and 25 mi commercials right now and they could all be in West Virginia with a horse theme for all we know! It could be a big screw U from Dodge like yep you thought u nailed it so we moved it 375 mi from the “know final destination”
I still think Coolidge Barn in Plymouth Notch.
Look at the planks on this barn.
Vertical – just like in the live view. Many barns have horizontal planking.
http://www.flickr.com/photos/kitschqueen/4065653869/
The site might be closed, that would give it low visibility.
Hmmm…the home page of the Coolidge Homestead web site features a painting of Mount Independence…
We didn’t find it there. The site was not closed, FWIW. See my Instagram pic (maldenjen) or my Twitter post @Hendrey.
did anyone see the box he put behind the journey
450 mile from radius from Saratoga race course, still leaves a lot of ground open. Id check fair ground etc. Somewhere where it is quiet. Saratoga has a lot of cars, traffic and noises.
was he just looking for a needle in a haystack?!?!
Trying to find this journey is like trying to find a needle in a haystack
Hey Guys, this page was a HUGE help for me on the midwest trip even though it didn’t work out in my favor. Wish I could be out searching myself on this one, but MO to VT is a little out of the way for me.
Anyway, I was thinking, with the engine being a “3.6L VVT”, might that mean it could be in a town or area in Vermont that starts with a V? Sort of like the 283hp lead to highway 283 in OK?
Hi Joshua. It very well could be. Also worth noting: the letters on the Wild West Ranch sign. Cheers!
Vergennes,VT is in the general area of where it could be.
I have looked at the letters… looks like ERT BQIB on front and OW IG GL IG ORSE on the back side…. is that what you got?
Towns in Vermont starting with a V.
Vernon
Vershire
Victory
Vergennes
hey zack
Including a 32 mile round trip (side trip) from Ticonderoga to Paradox Lake NY (just west of Eagle Lake), that makes it very close to 125 miles from Albany all the way to Mount Independence.
500 – 375 = 125.
They must be releasing more radius clues after #5.
Maybe 10 in total this time?
I was wondering if we are just going to get the 5 clues or if there could be 10 or 15 altogether. I’m trying to read the source code behind the YouTube site to see if that window scrolls. I can see where it invokes google maps and then the companion ad, but this script is complicated, and it turns out I can’t figure it out.
Here’s another paradox: To get people to explore the world wide world, Dodge left three Journeys somewhere out there for you to find. You find one, you can have one. (WWW versus real-world)
Ya I been waving the Paradox flag for a week now!
Crossing ferry ay Crowne Point. Then taking a nap !
Did you see me? I was the kid standing with the black hat haha
I saw you
you’re hot. Good luck, MY FRIEND.
Actually talked to a couple ppl !!!!
Steve, I sent you an email.
I have been following this site all week. Steve, do you know of another way I can view the clues? Some reason the clues will not load on my PC. Everything else is visible including the live feed.
Zack you are special
By the way Steve, Kudos for the impressive technical skills and detective work to this point…
Many thanks Paul
Steve email me at kbristol@tampabay.rr.com please

anyone have anything to say about the reflection in the hood on the second clue? the barn seems to have some weird ceiling…
Maybe the key to the letters on the sign is finding what it used to say.
On the back side:
Top line: TONIGHT
Middle: Second word is RIDING?
Bottom: HORSE or HORSEBACK
No luck on the front side yet.
Change that. Top line can not be TONIGHT.
I also think it has something to do with horse, and the fron side BBQ Rib?
The reason it’s a 500 mile clue is because in the midwest search, they said that the journey could make it 500 miles on a tank of gas. I wouldn’t read anything more into it than that. They are sightseeing for a day, then headed somewhere.
Did someone find the neighborhood that the beginning shot was taken from?
Any more thoughts on where it could be? My husband searched the road from the video and couldn’t find anything. He is now a few miles away at the location my brother first said walking around (he said he got out because the was a volvo from VA blocking the road to the back of a barn). He walked and found nothing, except lots of barking dogs! Help him find it and I’ll let you take it for a spin!
Is it my subwoofer or does anyone else hear a loud, steady sound in the background?
I thought that I was getting some kind of feed back.
I believe it’s ambient noise – not picking up any fluctuations….or, it could be time for my meds…..again….
I am now thinking there might be as many as 15 MORE radius clues “in the can” and ready to be released.
If they stick to the minus 25 miles each time (or less), which makes sense because they will not go back to 50 at this point, they’ll need appx. 15 more to get you down to the 5 mile mark.
I would think they’ll need to have at least the 25 mile radius clue ready to present at some point if the search goes on longer than they expect. They’ll need to hone people in to bring it to conclusion at some point in the game. Same is true for the 5 mile clue (or, perhaps they’ll leave this one sitting out at 10).
The point is, this could go on well into tonight and then, for safety reasons, they’ll probably not give out the remainder of the radius clues until Sunday morning.
That’s how I would do it, anyway. A contingency master plan that covers a potential two-day “mega-hunt”. It’s setting up this way.
Added possible clue from 450-mile video: 3.6L VVT – V? VT (Vermont)
Maybe Route 36 too?
yes – there is a route 36 in Vermont.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vermont_Route_36
What if it is a 500 mile round trip on one tank of gas and the family heads back home and it is in a barn outside Albany… they did the trip for a day on a single tank of gas and made it back to grama’s farm at the end of the day outside Albany… Or something along those lines
Don’t rule this out:
Heading south at TK Bridge might indicate that the family is heading back home to Albany after their day/weekend trip is over.
I can see the side trip to Paradox Lake making sense but there is no logical reason for the vehicle to be headed south over that bridge unless they are making their way home.
Can’t explain why they leave from a row of townhouses and it ends up in a barn in relation to this theory, but that’s what we have Steven for. To explain the inexplicable.
Steve what do you think of our theory? I think a barn so no one can spot it from the air or a helicopter, and like I said maybe they went to gramma’s house at end of the day which is a horse ranch outside Albany???
I agree about the barn. With the west search, someone saw enough to know, just about, where it was … (after about 16 hours a detective work) But, so far the radius searches have just been as the crow flies, moving along or progressing along a know route (never extending beyond 20 miles). We do suspect they’re throwing more twists at us, the different directions, Paradox(es), etc. (And I think the Albany southbound shot could be a video edit error, like Sayre OK) Can’t rule anything out but I’d still have to go with somewhere with 20 or so miles of either Ticonderoga and Mt Independence. If they double-backed, that would be especially evil (even thought about them looping towards Green Mountain Nat forest area to be somewhat consistent with the last tow) … but for either of those southbound scenarios, a lot of people wouldn’t be very happy.
Lake George it is…
Another possible Barn in the area.
http://www.uvm.edu/morgan/?Page=locate.html
Not sure if that is right. I went to school at UVM. I don’t think they would put this on campus/near campus. Especially since Burlington is so crazy as is. Just my 2 cents.
Added 425-mile clue video plus solution: Lake George, NY
Lake George “Queen of American Lakes” on jet ski.
Lake George to the Ticonderoga ferry is closer to 50 miles…
wonder if we’ll get a Sabbath Day Point clue next…. Ticonderoga being clue 5… not 4…?
You beat me to it, Nick.
Must have been typing while you were doing the same. Great minds ……
Probably a two-day family trip though, with all the side routes, covering 500 miles. Sleep over in southern VT (Green Mountain area) and then back home on Sunday afternoon.
This fits with my earlier conjecture that the clues will “drag out” over a two-day period.
I agree, did you see my post that they are probably in the works right now for making the 100 mi and 75 mi ect commercials as we speak, and maybe they will be on way back home the long way back through Vermont????
I like Mendon, VT for final spot where there is a “Journey’s End” Road…what do you think?
What is in front of the Journey in the last seconds? Kind of looks like a counter with an antique cash register on it (maybe).
Looks like they’ve skipped over PJs BBQ – that newspaper article killed them
yeah I was just going to say that…. It looks like maybe they shot something today to take the place of that clue maybe.
the whole darn barn thing could be in reaction to far too much press and far too many leaks…
I can not drop my man on google earth to look at a road
…cuz (BION) Google Street view is NOT everywhere….
Alright, So we passed the intersection for 73 in VT right past the ferry off point. There was a sign on the side of the road from Dodge that said,
“This isnt the End
Its only the beginning
We cant wait to share
Where we went next
the journey is within 350 miles from here”
Thoughts?
Is that an “on location” report? Could you take a pic to share? Seems like you’re on the right track …
http://maps.google.com/maps?q=43.24556,-72.807346&um=1&ie=UTF-8&hq=&hnear=0x89e04e00d9612093:0x1161eb68cb554478,%2B43%C2%B0+14'+43.93%22,+-72%C2%B0+48'+26.44%22&gl=us&ei=9B9-TrDcCpCitgeC-t1u&sa=X&oi=geocode_result&ct=image&resnum=1&ved=0CBsQ8gEwAA
whats this supposed to be Justin???
I’m using gpsvisualizer.com to draw concentric circles around each waypoint and I have to say, we still have all of New England within range. White Mountain still looks good to me.
You know… I thought the loud noise on the live feed was the rain. But now I think it might be generators for the lights and camera equipment.
You may very well be right … I can’t really watch the live feed … already have two laptops, one with dual monitors, etc … LOL (it’s fun though)
LOL wow
500 mile round trip might even mean a journey into New Hampshire for the night before returning to Albany.
You’d have to go that far east, really, to tally 500 miles total.
Or, they cross back over into NY on a ferry in mid- VT and explore the Adirondacks before returning back to Albany area. Poor kids. That’s a lot of time to be sequestered in the back seat.
But we’ll probably be told how plush those accommodations are in a Dodge Journey in a future radius clue!
David the 500 miles just means its WITHIN that area….. NOT indicating that’s how far away the journey is….
He is wearing a captains hat and dusting the care with a duster in the live feed now.
*car – sorry – typo
it looked like a naval officers or a captains hat…. He has black tuck tape, black gloves, 2 way radio, and a flashlight clipped to his shorts too.. Don’t know if those items are a clue either.
Hi Robin. Could very well be a reference to the ferry or location, to be sure. Cheers!
not a very good actor… He lookeddirectly into the camera just as he exited to the right.
Not sure if it’s a clue but the guy is cleaning the car on the live shot right now and he has some sort of boating hat on.
I agree Brian. That would be a clue
as would cleaning off the car because IT’S DUSTY IN A HAYLOFT
Hi– what live shot are you referring too??? Thanks Lawanna & Patty
hat has to have something to do with the ferry crosing
I would tend to agree with you Ken. Cheers!
Wow i wondered where everyone was…. thanks for the link Steven Barley…
And many, if not EVERYONE, is here. Site traffic has exceeded 14,000 view today alone, and it’s just approaching 3pm …
Cheers!
Great tool for drawing your own circles with mileage:
http://www.freemaptools.com/radius-around-point.htm
im liking Mendon as well…. Journey’s end road….
There was a logo on his hat. Vermont emblem? As opposed to his I LOVE NY shirt earlier?
I’m guessing the barn is pretty big. The live shot and video with jet ski look like different parts of the barn. Also, with this much secrecy they might want to store all vehicles and equipment inside since there was so much discussion about people renting planes or helos. You can hear the sliding barn door on a track when he comes in and out of the video, which is probably just another section of the barn. Just used efixtool on the third video and it had conflicting dates either May 11th or it was just shot yesterday at 1:28:42 in the afternoon. My guess is that some of the shots were done back in May, but because they had contingency plans, they just shot the barn with jet ski video yesterday and edited that portion in to prepare for the live game today. Editing was done on an Apple PC according to the metadata.
Someone said it also intersected with a road like dodge rd? but i dont see it?
Journey’s End and Dodge Rd are in Francestown NH. Next to Haunted Lake.
i just notices in the 3rd clue….. the reflection in the truck ….. it shows the barn door is OPEN…….
Just saw that, too. There goes my theory about a big barn. Unless…there are multiple barns on the property, stalls, separate tack barn, etc.
has anyone checked Mt Independence FARM????
checked already.
My husband just reported that he went to a location and at the entrance there was a sign that said “sorry, no dodge here”. It was hand written on a white board. Hopefully they wouldn’t do that just to throw people off and it really is there… cause he left!
Someone else just pointed out. In addition to the Captain’s hat, he had a VHF grade marine radio, blue flash light and gapper(sp)/duck tape.
Chalkboard!
He just setup an easel with a chalkboard – says “For photos and videos of everyone in the real world looking for the journey, follow the #Journeysearch tag.
More clues to location possibly hidden in what they are supplying?
how do you find that #Journeysearch tag….. where do you input that to search….???
That’s for Twitter Jenni (and not a lot are using). They (Dodge) did ask for people to share videos and pics via Twitter, but I think they’re kind of busy
Friends Lake – next video clue.
the Hat -http://lakegeorgesteamboat.com/index.asp?lg=1&w=photo&phcat=6&phid=73
Thanks Tim. I included that on my post. Cheers!
4th Clue Friends Lake NY
Well now Eagle Lake is on the WAY to Ticonderoga… haha
Steve the flash light tape and radio have been on his person all day the capt hat is the only thing diffrent
OK. Thanks for catching that. I haven’t been watching the live feed. Cheers!
They say “find your way back” in this last clue. Wonder if it is possible they are now headed back towards Albany?
Friends lake, above lake george, near eagle lake as well. In a small town called Chestertown, Ny.
chestertown, ny
next pin
i think the next clue will either be Eagle Lake or Paradox NY
agreed… then across the ferry into Shoreham area… but no way they keep up 25 mile clue increments… we’ll be here 17 more hours! finishing up tomorrow morning?
Agree …
Twitter feed said one more after this clue the te search moves into the real world. Live?
“then the”
Friends Lake, NY – no Vermont yet
Added 400-mile clue with solution: Chestertown, NY (Friends Lake) – Looks like they’re not continuing along route 9 and Lake George to Ticonderoga. Rather, they should move farther north, then take 74 east towards Eagle Lake and to Ticonderoga (and VT).
Understood, Jenni, but earlier in the post we were examining the possibility of a round trip based on the fact that the Journey is heading south back over the TK Bridge.
Circles could continually adjust and shrink throughout the trip, leading you back to the Albany area once inside 50 miles.
Conjectures are based primarily on the idea that the vehicle can travel 500 miles on a tank of gas (announced in the Mid-west search) and the TK Bridge anomaly.
It would put a fitting end to the entire contest if the final family made it home (perhaps to a nearby relative’s place) in a rural location.
Enough conjecture. Bring on the facts!
see steven….. i said paradox aweek ago…… maybe they hit PJ’s on way back steven! you dont write me anymore… are we breaking up??? LOL
LOL Nick. Paradox is a def destination or pass through point … but they got to get to VT (I expect they’ll pass it and Eagle Lake on route). Cheers!
Why is he wearing an earpiece? Like the second time I’ve seen it on him. And any idea whats in that box by the barn wall?
Do you think vermont is the place to be looking steven?
Right now, I’d say it looks pretty likely. I think they’re going to be resolving Eagle Lake soon (in fact, they gave us an eastbound shot with the first clue today) … then another beyond the ferry turning south towards mt independence.
Dodge on Twitter: 4th clue is live. One more after this and then this search moves into the real world. <– What does that mean? Hope they don't shutdown everyone playing from home
Or will they move the Journey outside?
Friendslake inn? http://www.friendslake.com/
It fits what they did in CA.
How so Tim???
Well as for my theory of heading back home, Green Mountain National Forest ( National Park consistant with past hiding spots) is basically back outside Albany on the Border of NY and VT…. Steven how many miles is it from Albany to Paradox to Independence Mountain then back to the very bottom of Green Mountain National Park? would that be to many miles?
Google maps is your friend.
I’d love to get a report from anyone on location regarding this:
So we passed the intersection for 73 in VT right past the ferry off point. There was a sign on the side of the road from Dodge that said,
“This isnt the End
Its only the beginning
We cant wait to share
Where we went next
the journey is within 350 miles from here”
That would be the first I’ve heard for having a waypoint, physical clue. Movement into the real world?
http://t.co/onKwBCWr
This might be your sign.
This was posted on Twitter.
So, right … and that’s from Jered. Cool. His mom is on the hunt
And take a picture!
http://www.newmarketpressvt.com/news/2011/sep/12/shoreham-celebrates-250th-birthday/ Just a confirmation of what’s been written.
Okay – Journey dude is back – new chalkboard message.
Later tonight, we’ll show you some photos from our journey to get here. Stay Tuned. #JourneySearch
Makes me think that no one is close.
How can we be close… still 400 Michael away !
From the McDONALD’S in Ticondaroga
Dodge’s latest tweet says “…then this search moves into the real world.” Does that mean the remaining clues will be found on location only? Looks like they’re cutting out the online hunters.
I sure hope they don’t Edward
That would be an unfortunate move … esp now that they have a near critical mass. Of course, they could be planning to simply move the vehicle out, but I just don’t know. *fingers crossed*
don’t worry – you know us foot soldiers will keep you posted…
Appreciated Brian. Please do.
I bet they are going to the physical clues. Oh well….
Did you see this? There’s a sign below the fish: http://twitpic.com/6pzscb/full
Yes, someone reported seeing it a while ago and I wanted them to take a pic. First physical clue they’ve used …
I’m glad they’re putting signs out there. Maybe they used my suggestion! Someone tweeted the link to the Dodge YouTube page, but I can’t quite read the smaller words on the sign, can you?
Someone reported the full text here at 2:24pm
Now we have a pic …
did you take that pic???? do you have a better one of the sign???
I’m not out there on the road. Someone tweeted the link to the Dodge YouTube discussion, but the messages scroll off the page within a few minutes. I’ll keep watching it for more.
1. I will preface this with saying I am actually one of the ones in Vermont. However 2. Can you imagine the pandemonium that will ensue if/when people drive to the Dodge/Journey intersection, NH or somewhere FAR east only to have the “round trip” theory pan out? Maybe it’s the nerd in me but I get the mental picture of the Lord in Braveheart/the Orcs in LOTR/ when they get that look of TOTAL shock when he realizes he advanced too deep into the “good guys” ranks and now they’re royally screwed to make a retreat lol. Yea can you tell I got 2.5 hours of sleep last night? Lastly (and more importantly) please please please take this for what it is, it could be completely unreliable. But I’m sitting in a coffee shop in Middlebury right now and there’s a bunch of college kids with me. One of the employees and I were shooting the breeze (me not telling him why I was there only that I was from out of town) then he offers up that there’s been a lot of tourists around this way looking for a car. He said he hopes the car is nearby cause around 4:30 this morning (when he was on his way in for his shift) a large caravan of a f-150 carrying a 30ish foot unmarked trailer flanked by two black durangos came through heading north on 7 and took the exit to 125 east. AGAIN, this could just be a college kid thinking he can get a laugh at my expense, but I thought I’d share this with the forum as imo we’re all in this together
What’s the kids name at the coffee shop? and the name of the place? I’ll call them right now and ask for him… Tell him he is right… totally blow his mind…
Someone from Dodge probably paid him to say that….
good luck Jeremy
LMAO….. ya dude little nerdy! LOL… but I guess I m a nerd too cuz I knew exactly what you meant! LOL
Why would Dodge use a FORD F150
My father just found it!!!!!!!! I appreciate all the help from you guys. The paper work we signed wont allow us to say anymore at this time. I will report back later!!!!!!!!!
Hi James. If he found it, wouldn’t we see him on camera. However, if that’s in fact true, congrats!! We should still see him soon …
What???? come on …. no way already???? at least say what area or what state for that matter!!!! i think this guy is Bogus!!!
“Real world” might not be as fun for the onlines, but it in a way would be a neat twist and a nice gesture to those on the road who migh not be as well-equipped or located to keep up with all the web traffic -
Found a place east of albany and saratoga and it has old barns on site that they hold wedding receptions etc in. Planks on wall match up well as do the still old looking floors. Heading up now. 31 mins from my house.
this seems like they obviously switched its location the other day and dont have commercials for the rest of the journey. so they are gonna release some clue photos and then post signs so people have to figure it out in the “real world”. it makes sense with their campaign, but i don’t think they originally intended for it to be like this.
I would tend to agree with you Bobby. This is first, and foremost, a marketing campaign. They want max exposure. If they cut off the online world … it would be unfortunate
These Dodge folks are being EVIL this time.
Just saw this on Twitter – not sure if it is a hoax or not, but they say they have found it.
http://twitter.com/#!/shotweets
Says the final location was at Battlefield State Park.
Isn’t that in New Jersey??
Like I said – might be a hoax.
They don’t get that actual Journey. The guy who won the first one said that.
Journey dude is back on the live view – new chalkboard message.
Yeah, Leo seems right up your alley.
RT@intothetouch: Hey @leolaporte – have you been following this?
What in the world??
That’s a tech guy (I follow him on Twitter) … and right thereafter, they’re cutting off the tech and online world … LOL.
The twitter photos they will post tonight just might indicate they really did go to a Plan B and are using the photos as somewhat impromptu additional clues…
The “later tonight” reference certainly indicates to me that they plan to go on for a while. BTW – anyone else lose the live feed?
The Journey guy left another comment–> Yeah, Leo. seems right up your alley rt@intothetouch: Hey@Leolaporte – Have you been following this? #Journeysearch
yeah…. what the heck does that mean????
Leo Laporte is a blogger / podcaster in California. I think Dodge is encouraging us to pay attention to the tweets, is all.
leolaporte does twit.tv – he’s a big twitter celebrity guy
nothing weird going on here…. just trying to get more exposure.
Maybe ALLEY has something to do with it. Bowling Alleys? A road named Something Alley?
Wow…I didn’t see him do that until 4:05 -odd.
This could be a long shot, but if you check out @leolaporte’s blog, you will see that he is a Ham Radio guy too in addition to his podcasts. Any chance they are moving the clues over to that source?
Video Clue #5 – Adirondack Marathon
Schroon Lake, NY
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adirondack_Marathon
whoa….. there is a LaPorte Road in Morristown VT
If there was a LaPorte ALLEY, . . .
Hey look at the barn on 623 rt 10 Chester, Vt what do you think?
After solving the 5th clue, the screen states that the Journey is within 25 miles of that location. A mistake?
They are probably going to head east to Paradox, then to Ticonderoga, into VT, and where it’s been discussed for days. I think they are just trying to drag it out. However, in doing so, I am officially bored and have places to go and people to see so I’m outta here. Enjoy!
That 25 miles within the finish was a typo right??? Inconsistent with the 375 in the tab.
Last Clue: This isn’t the end, this is only the beginning.
http://www.adirondackmarathon.org/_2011_2019_Marathon_Course_Map_9.12.11.pdf
Map of the marathon.
Adirondack Marathon clues: the first runner’s sign on the seat with the duffel bag is number 87 and the second one is number 74 with “Lake George” below it.
After the 5th clue pin was placed, I thought it said the journey is within 25 miles of here (Schroon Lake).
Did I read that correctly?
That’s what I got. Could be a bug. Probably not. We’re closing in.
Correct.
Yes. I saw that (and I would believe that too).
Yes! you saw that correctly!
http://a7.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/293538_649939778515_20402897_34262595_807262363_n.jpg
Hi Ben. I used your screen cap and added to my post, hope you don’t mind. (My memory is too corrupt to screen cap – too many things open … LOL) Cheers!
Yes, but there was also a button on there that said “View Final Clue”. I clicked on that and saw another graphic that said the exact thing that was on that sign that was photographed.
I think that’s an artifact left in there by mistake when they went to Plan B.
and on that road is Farm Resort Golf Course……and just down from that is Rydervale Stables and The Stowe Equestrian Center
Might be worth noting that north of Schroon Lake is NY-74, and the race bib number is 74…
Right. Def a reference to their eastbound track along 74, pass Eagle Lake and towards the Ti Ferry.
By last night I was convinced the location was Schroon Lake because, in looking at the the route clues, since directionality doesn’t seem to matter, the important thing is the routes themselves–and they intersect just above Schroon Lake.
Also found the Adirondack Marathon bike trail last night.
Yeah I think they just forgot to take out the 25 mile thing on the web cast they had already made previous to this… hahahahaha i think they just messed up maybe? but even still they could have changed it still since they made that little graphic saying that at the end
Seems like too massive of a leap —– from 375 to 25 miles.
?
Contradicts everything we say play out in West and Mid-west, especially OK where the entire radius was only 200 miles.
I agree David but I think they were trying to control pace by 1) release each clue on the hour vs unlocking as they’re solved; 2) keeping all options open with the (very) large radius. However, we still have a pretty predictable progression, from Schroon Lake, east along 74, past Eagle Lake, then to the Ti Ferry, into VT, and then to ?
I think it is about 20 miles from Schroon Lake to Ticonderoga. Why the Vermont pictures if we aren’t going to Vermont? There is a highway 74 there in Vermont.
Yes, there is.
Hi Deb. 74 can be picked up near Schroon Lake, passing by Eagle Lake and towards the Ti Ferry and does continue as 74 on the other side. Cheers!
HEY Steven…. Im starting to think the ferry at Fort Ticondaroga is the MB ranch sign to throw us off!!!!!!! Bet they never leave New York…. and they put a physical sign up over there to even throw us more cuz they knew everyone would be looking over there today because we all thought it was the “Final location”!!!!!
Nick … I liken it more to the Texola two-step than MB ranch (which was still in the correct direction of the primary route).
Still think we’re headed into VT.
Hi Nick. It’s possible but in addition to the welcome to VT shot we had, they gave us the turn south on 74 (after the ferry) to 73. So, we would have two clues pointing in the wrong direction … but, you can’t rule it out
“This isn’t the end, it’s only the beginning” is a pardoxical statement. We’ve seen “The Paradox” on the movie sign and we’re right next to Lake Paradox.
I’d still be at Mt Indy…
At the end of the video it does say 25 miles… but only after the first time you watch it… fun!
http://a7.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/293538_649939778515_20402897_34262595_807262363_n.jpg
I wish they would beep the horn or something… then maybe my husband would come bursting through!
On second thought – the road sign said 50 miles from that point and we have 25 miles from Schroon Lake – does that mean we will be going west? Someplace like Vanderwhacker Mountain Wild Forest?
ok so Schroon Lake is where they run the marathon….. paradox lake is near there….. but also after you solve the 5th clue it says this is only the beginning….we can’t wait to show you where we go next…..So do ya’ll think the next clues will be in the twitter #journeysearch feed…. the did say on the chalkboard earlier that they would share photos of their trip tonight…..
Perhaps. We will probably see pictures along the route we already know (like the two advanced shots they gave us) then continue to add a few more that do not extend beyond where “on location” hunters are … probably going as far as the Ti Ferry (we already have that)
Twitter: Dodge
Good find, Mom. Nice real world detective work. @jaredlyon Look what mom found! #JourneySearch twitpic.com/6pzscb
73 it is
http://www.panoramio.com/photo/39335666
Anyone ever see this for the Hoffman notch photo for final location? looks familiar to me
that is where they take the bikes off the car..
Did anyone ever check out the Champlain Orchards? It is near the intersection of 73 & 74, has recently built a storage barn, and has a music festival going this weekend. The Dodge folks could be hiding in plain sight. (Only could….) In theory, this could be the spot.
If you look closely at the end of the “barn “is a counter with stools, a large crock, and mugs/glasses. Maybe its not a barn but a country bar or dance hall.
If it’s really within 25 miles of the final clue, perhaps it’s near the 25 mile point of the marathon? http://www.schroon.net/course%20map.htm
so does anyone think that Laporte Rd. in Morristown VT, is of importance at all???
Not really. I think they were trying to engage a very influential blogger.
Does tend to correspond with the information from above about the coffee shop. Location and route may lend credence.
http://lakeparadoxclub.com/facilities.php
any thoughts on why they have no clock running the elapsed time like they did in OK?
That’s good observation and question Karl.
I’m having trouble understanding if Dodge meant it was hidden 25 miles from the sign, or 25 miles from Schroon Lake? What do you all think?
Should be 25-miles (as the crow flies) from that pin (Schroon Lake)
Steven what do you think of the Hoffman Notch Photo I posted? it kinda looks like the ridge that was behind the guy who took the bike off the top of the car….
Couldn’t break away. Is there a photo gallery in a barn anywhere near that sign by the fish that says “Gallery”???
HAHAHAHAHAHAhahAHaaa!!!! love it!!! you couldnt get away from it!! ME EITHER!!!!
The orchard with the concert going on.
any guess why it would say lake george under the 74 in the last clue?
That’s a good catch Matt. I’ll have to give it another look. Cheers!
Just comment on this whole process….I am imagining a remake of the movie “it’s a mad, mad, mad, mad world” ..
Steven Barley, we need someone to play you in this movie….
Mt. Independence, VT is my guess
Mt. Independence State Park, VT is my guess! Anybody close to there?
As common as that guess has been over the last week, I would venture to guess there are a couple hundred people in that general vicinity
Hadrian
My uncle has checked every barn in Vermont , NO LUCK i AM SENDING HIM BACK TO Tic ferry. does anyone know when the last ferry crosses the lake back into NY
I think it is 6:45
Since he’s in the area, has your uncle checked Norton’s gallery? It’s on route 73 in Shoreham with views of Mt Independance and the ferry. From thir web page looks to be in a barn.
Remaining or Residual Clues –
Dodge “guy” wearing a captain’s hat like this (Perhaps a reference to the Ti Ferry)
V VT: Either V? Vermont or 5 Vermont
Letters on Wild West Ranch sign
“The Paradox” – letters on Marta Drive-In sign
What else am I missing?
the 6:23 time on the GPS
and its tuned to channel Sat 10
The biggest paradox yet is that we have a 25 mile clue with a 375 mile radius drawn.
I think VVT means variable valve timing. Not a clue.
The image has not been altered, that’s for sure. Here’s a shot (found online): http://www.sousinch.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/07/2011-Dodge-Journey-Engine-590×442.jpg
why is the c missing in Adirondak Marathon? Missing letter theory continues…
It would be slick, but beyond their scope I think, if you could piece all together to form a clue – and perhaps, we’ll get a bit more as they release pics this evening
Hammond Pond Wild Forest just outside Paradox
So, Steven, do you believe, then, that it will indeed be found within a 25 mile radius of Schroon Lake?
How does this fit in with the “it’s only the beginning” claim, in your opinion?
Would seem like a major faux pas on their part if it was a mistake:
faux pas – A SOCIAL blunder.
Hi David. Yes. They’ve been pretty consistent on that … they give us route (and don’t add too much with the radius clues) and we’ve been left no more than 20-miles from the final location (but that’s still a lot of ground to cover, esp in area like NY/VT) I think by stopping at 25-miles, they want to more fully engage the “boots on the ground” – a new beginning for them, new type of clues (physical), not online, in the real world
I’m hoping some of our community, who are on location, continue to send in updates. I’ve been in touch with about 20 or so, but they’ve gone quiet … and I fully understand why
my bet is that they are at the john brown farm in lake placid. they went west instead of east.
could it be as easy as in the barn in the background where the Journey turns right on 73 the next dirt road brings you to the back of the barn which is near the water it just crossed on the Ferry……
Why is there no “C” in Adirondak on the marathon bib?
Hi Craig. You’re the second to catch that. Missing letters seem to be a theme.
Yeah, as soon as I posted, I saw someone else had mentioned it previously. Has anyone mentioned Paradox Bay in Lake Placid?
once they turn right off of 74 on to 73 the next road is a dirt road to the right which goes in behind a barn and the river they just crossed on the ferry and the mountains are in the background!!!!!
Has anyone been able to positively identify all the letters on the BACK side of the Guided Horseback Riding sign? I think I can make out G L ENT S I G ORSE
Hey anyone look for horse ranches in Ticonderoga area???? I found a few… but hello… ya its gotta be on a Horse farm or Horse breeding/ boarding ranch, or some old historic one right?
Go to Google maps and type in Dodge Journey….. that’s where I think I’d be looking. Its 22.7 miles away from the Schroon Lake pin
It’s definitely past that because they get on the Ferry heading East on 74. Then they take a right onto 73…I believe the barn is in the background.
I took a photo of the car at 1:30 and now looking at the ‘live’ at 5 PM, there is no change in the reflection in the headlight so I think that is interior lighting. The only change is the ‘windows on the bumper’ that are growing dimmer as night falls up there.
Also my guess is that it is a packing house for apples, etc and not a animal/hay barn unless it is a ‘museum exhibit’, just too clean. Hay is a distraction…maybe black box is more of a clue…
ONLY 1 HR TO THE LAST FERRY CROSSING BACK INTO NY. I TOLD MY UNCLE TO STAY ON VT SIDE AND WE ARE SEARCHING MT IND AREA NOW
Thanks for the update Ken!
Ken, have him check the barn in the background where they turn off of 74 onto 73…please I actually turned around in front of Jones Energy thinking it was private property at 12:30pm last Saturday!! I guess you tell I’m a little aggrevated I didn’t take the chance of some crazy person telling me to get off there land!!:)
This place is about 25 miles from Schroon Lake….
Leerkes Farm Inc
260 Delano Rd
Ticonderoga, NY
Anyone check it?
GOING TO BE DARK IN A HR OR SO UP THERE BE CAREFULL UNCLE RON AND ALL
Ken, if he hasn’t already, have him check on 73 where it turns sharp left, just south of 74. I thought that farm was where it would be since Thursday, but I figured people would have been all over that area by now.
Stupid question…but what’s all this about dropping a PIN?
Hi Charles. It’s a reference to Dodge’s YouTube page, where you get the radius clues (watch a video, answer a question about location by dropping a pin or marker on the spot using a map) Cheers!
That 73/74 intersection in the first clue is inside the 25 mile radius of Shroon Lake.
So what’s up with remaining clues?
At the one mile mark from where that fish gallery sign points down hwy 73 is a huge farm…. maybe something???
Still not found the Gallery yet though
Supposed to be 1 mile up road on lake side of road.
The gallery is a woodcarving gallery found just before the sharp left on 73. I saw a sign on Street View.
journey’s end farm…Ticonderoga NY? It’s a Quarter Horse Farm….with barns!
that sounds like it SHOULD Be there….. anyone close by there GO NOW
wonder if they are talking about my brother. I sent him to the circle B ranch around 1pm Eastern time and the guy told him he hated Dodges…….After he left and was on to another horse place, I thought maybe the guy was trying to throw him off.
He was about 8 miles away when I lost cell contact on his return trip
journeys end farm is in Pennsylvania
Yes, but also in NY! The NY one……http://journeysendfarmqhs.webs.com/
That would be a fitting, final location
And North of Ticonderoga, along route 9, not east or west along 74 – but that means they gave us several shots related to VT as misdirection (video: VT side of ferry, video: 74/73 intersection, turning south; picture: on ferry, heading to VT) Regardless of the outcome, that’s a cool find.
I know, right! My first guess was Mount Independence State Historic Site, it follows the right turn on 73 after the ferry in Vermont and about 25 mi from Lake Shroon. My guess seems to be being blocked from the Dodge site too….interesting! And yes, I agree….there are no coincidences in life!
Also one in Ticonderoga, NY
is anyone near the 73/74 intersection?? have you checked the farm in the background it looks out to the water and the mountains……check it!! I’m in Texas!!
There is a Journey’s End Farm in Ticonderoga… off 9N no less…
1550 NYS Rt. 9N
Ticonderoga, NY 12883
next to the Adirondack Park Preserve
but i’m calling them horrible horrible coincidences ;/
Jethro on NCIS says there’s no such thing as coincidences … but yeah, I would be bummed. They would have duped us with the 3 VT clues.
The Adirondack marathon is held this weekend – a 26 mile marathon.
http://www.adirondackmarathon.org/
Course map: http://www.adirondackmarathon.org/_2011_2019_Marathon_Course_Map_9.12.11.pdf
I also looked at Schroon Lake on WIkipedia.
yhey just had a sign up for sec
new chalkboard going up i think on the live feed
1550 NYS Rt. 9N Ticonderoga, NY 12883
For the Google Maps location.
As stated before, these Dodge folks are EVIL this time.
Slideshow of the Journey’s path starts at 6pm (Twitter, hashtag #journeysearch)
From Twitter, last clue is indeed 375 miles, not 25.
Slideshow of their path along the way at 6pm – just put up on live feed
it says “Take a Seat and grab some popcorn. a Slide show of the Journeys path along the way starts at 6pm EDT #journeysearch.”
Dodge just tweeted Dodge Dodge
When you solve the 5th clue vid it gets you within 375 miles of the Journey, not 25 as was written. More to come. Stay tuned. #JourneySearch
Ouch!
Do they have the balls to send people searching around for a random barn through the night? Technical errors… 375 miles not 25… 350 miles from 74/73…. This is getting out of hand
I think the 25 v 375, change to the ground game is starting to confirm a plan b
However, I do like them extending this (to tomorrow). It was kind of silly to see the Midwest clues last Sunday, during the games, when it had been found. However, for those in the physical hunt, they have to make plans for the night and be prepared for a new hunt tomorrow.
Worth noting: the west search ran 16 hours.
Yes, Steven, I think the videos all related to Plan A. What follows at 6:00 (and the sign on 74) begins Plan B. Boots, start hiking toward New Hampshire.
Does anyone know why everytime he puts up a sign it only shows half? is that just my computer? any ways of fixing it if so…. thanks people! ofcourse i just moved out of VT after living there for 7 years last week, ugh!
Hi and it would be your monitor or display, check your settings. Cheers!
I noticed when I tried to make my display smaller, it did that to the feed. Try holding ctrl and rolling your wheel mouse to see if it changes?
thanks i fixed it in the settings by right clicking the video feed and changing the setting to 10 mb
ohhh that journeys end farm is right on the edge of anirondak preserve
Interesting they mentioned the marathon in NY today. It’s probably not related, because I haven’t put anything else together to support going here, but I want to be the 1st to post this about a 50 mile BIKE + 50 k Run marathon tomorrow in VT:
http://www.vermont50.com/html/race_description.html
At this point, it’s anybody’s guess.
I’m 30 min from the journeys end farm. Could this also mean the slideshow is back at the Malta drive in?
This is huge from Dodge on Twitter if true = “When you solve the 5th clue vid it gets you within 375 miles of the Journey, not 25 as was written. More to come. Stay tuned. “
For the record, it does say within 375 vs. within 25. Since the final video clue said the 26.2 miles (obviously a reference to a marathon), that still fits within those parameters. Also, Steven, you should start a hangout or huddle on G+ to keep up with this lol.
Little sad. Husband is calling it quits soon. Once it gets dark he’s headed home. Gonna be disappointed if it was anywhere near the area he is in.
Sorry to hear that Kate. I’m sure many hoped and expected a fairly quick find like last weekend (perhaps forgetting the first, lasting 16 hours) … but tacking on another 375. Ouch!
Uncle just pulling out of Mount Ind, exhausted every inch, many signs saying Journey not here, and another sign saying road closed and blocked by tractor but sign read feel free to walk down to field ( nothing there ) all private properity
Kate my uncle is calling it also heading back home to Elmira Ny, may be a clue to check on his way home???
Dodge Still time to join in. RT @NorvTBR I am way too wrapped up in this Dodge Journey treasure hunt. If you live in VT you should check it out.
Sep 24th, 2011 2:44 PM
I’m not sure what to make of the times showing in the tweets on the youtube/dodge page. I’m thinking they must be Pacific time? Either way, this is what they just posted a bit ago.
live is setting up screen
I’m looking forward to the slideshow.
Part of me is wondering if the “this isn’t the ending, this is only the beginning” paradox is actually referring to the ordering of the clues. Maybe that sign in Vermont was the beginning of the Journey’s trip en route to Albany (and as it traveled to Albany, went through the video clues in reverse order)?
That would be incredibly deceptive, but fit the paradox. It would also extend the search since a lot of people were already up in the Vermont area last night.
Regarding the missing “C” – Adirondak Loj at Heart Lake? Check these driving directions out – Take the Adirondack Northway (I-87) to Exit 30. Turn left on Route 73 toward Keene and Lake Placid, continue on Route 73 for 26.5 miles. Turn left on Adirondack Loj Road (High Peaks Trailhead sign). It is five miles to the Loj. 26.5 miles referenced in the marathon clue. ??
WHOA….. where does that end up???? thats pretty amazing!
LIVe is getting ready to show slide show
You Guys if I was in the Area I would Def GO TO Journey’s End Farm in 1550 NYS Rt. 9N Ticonderoga, NY 12883 NY!!!!
Its a Quarter horse farm for God Sakes!!!! and its on a Adirondack Park Preserve!!!
Its also just off route 9 which they seemed to be following this whole time.
One thing to remember about true slideshows, the slides could be put in backwards making the images reversed.
Hardrian
PS – did we lose the sound on the live feed?
Sure hope they throw any of the hunters a bone (like a clue in the slideshow)
how many sldes they show so far….. i had to run to the grocery…???
Welcome to Vermont.
Bring popcorn because the slideshow is gonna take forever… lol
Steve – you snap shotting each slide?
I have it on large screen and will cap anything we didn’t already have … *fingers crossed*
is the live feed stuck?????
See a ‘Fish’ gallery sign?
And before they added their sign below
Sadly it is not stuck. This is it, real time.
What is that scene??? its hardly ledgable…
thats pretty useless
ok thats just a view of the signs at the hwy 73 turn off
LOL … power lines and a street signs at night … oh boy.
Boots on the ground here in VT. A very long day, and locals very tired of out-of-towners. Ran into multiple fellow searchers at any oasis with wifi.
Thanks for checking in Paul. We’re watching a so far useless slideshow on the live feed. Hoping to capture something that may be of use. Any other physical clues or signs?
Have seen no other physical clues and have covered a 20 mile radius of 73/74 fairly thoroughly. Lots of potential private property sites, but no sense getting shot without more specifics at least.
can anyone read that sign
_______________ _________ AHEAD
If you’re referring to the brown (I think) sign that looks like one of those movie cut markers, no
think its a sign for one of the mountains or something they are usually brown and white or yellow
is that a pic of the barn???
These are the crappiest pictures in the world
That white building was….Orwell town Hall. on 73? too bad I am in Florida!
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/8/8d/Orwellvttownhall.jpg/250px-Orwellvttownhall.jpg
i thought the sign was brown maybe a state park sign??? with a mountain towards the top
The picture of what looks like a courthouse is the townhall in Orwell, VT! http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/8/8d/Orwellvttownhall.jpg/250px-Orwellvttownhall.jpg
Great find Megan! Orwell VT
That was the Orwell Vt town hall.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Orwell,_Vermont
Via twitter, that building was the Orwell, VT Town Hall!
found it on street view Orwell town hall
LOL…so we know it was Orwell, VT for sure!
ANY one look here or around here yet? Journey’s End Farm in 1550 NYS Rt. 9N Ticonderoga, NY 12883 NY!!!!
Its a Quarter horse farm for God Sakes!!!! and its on a Adirondack Park Preserve!!!
Its also just off route 9 which they seemed to be following this whole time.
Maybe they’re throwing people off for tonight, so they can move it in the dark to a new place!
so is it just me or does it look like the slide show is going in order…… ????
I think that the first white building was the Orwell Town Hall in Orwell, VT http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Orwell_vt_town_hall.jpg
the new building looks like an old shool house or church
I like the road sign. We can track that down
7 and 73, Brandon VT
Charles…. you have been the quickest lookup in during the slide show….great work!
Is anyone timing the time between photos–ie driving time??
Orwell to Brandon is only 14 miles. 21 minutes by trucking software.
Is there a clue at the gallery? It is at 51 Vermont 73, Shoreham, VT. As usual, PLENTY of Barns. (EVIL Dodge people?) 1 mile south on 73 from 73/74 junction.
bunch of these in Orwell… on 73….
the horse crossing sign is as well…
That last one is Brandon VT for 7N and 73
Church was in Sudbury, VT
oh oh oh i found the second building….. it is Sudbury congressional church….
VIa Dodges twitter:

We’re posting the greatest hits from the #JourneySearch slideshow. Here’s the first: http://pic.twitter.com/8lrpSrS7
Maybe we will see ALL of the pic’s clear soon
Their going to post the pics on twitter…thank god…. better res
http://www.vtcucc.org/churches/Sudbury.html
7 South would take them back to Albany! hahahahaha
There’s a 7 in VT that shares 73 in Brandon VT
However, the 7 sign is a square/rectangle … unlike the signs in Brandon
Will wait for the Twitter version.
73 ends at 100….
7 South gives them a lot more room too extend this…
350 miles from 73/74 has me…
it’s only 300 from that intersection to NYC….
at this pace though… it’ll end tomorrow….
did they post clues and have the live feed over night for the West?
I think this is the only time i disagree w u Steven, I think the sign has a shield shape like the ones in Brandon.. and where else does 7 meet 73??
I won’t disagree with you Nick. Crappy resolution
If you say it’s a shield, then it’s a shield … LOL
photo/1
The pics are much better on Twitter. First one whas the Ferry…
photo/1/large
Obviously, these are in order…
the twitter pics are different than the ones on the live feed…..
Same pics, just better resolution.
photo/1 Post by Dodge I don’t know if anyone said this but yeah.
Okay nvrmind hahahaha
I think it said 7 South and 73 East Business when the video cleared up for just a second.
Hubbardton battle field is where us army retreated to from ft ti/indepependence…
omg… brandon VT… seriously…. ????
Hey Steven – Since there have been so many letters missing, do you have a comprehensive list of what those are… maybe all the “missing” letters will spell something in the end.
Rt 7/Rt 73 merge in Brandon, Vt
Fyi My uncle spent most of the day in Orwell
Sounds like he was on the right track! Is he going to keep searching tomorrow?
Been in this area all day. Definitely drove 73 to 30, but then turned north onto 30 (passed the church). That was at 1215 or so after first clue. I got lost trying to backtrack to the ferry. I also ended up turning left onto 73 from 74 missing the sign (but I noticed people near the pole – didn’t think anything of it)… Hoping its turning toward my current stakeout.
Photo 2 is up, confirming town hall.
Nice cool night here in TN, I’m glad I am playing from home, Just had a big fat cheese burger, still got a full tank of gas, watching a little Dish Network, you all got me so tired, Think I’ll take a nap, catch up in the am, all have a safe night, and thank you all for pumping monery into the economy, The USA really thanks you, so this was the Obama plan
If that’s the final picture, it’s downtown Brandon, right side of the road, just before the church tower that’s on the left. Hard to see the highway signs in Street View.
If that’s where it is, someone should be there shortly.
I agree with David. I think I matched the house at approximately 20 Conant Square, Brandon, VT. Go to street view and move up the hill to the right away from the back of the truck.
OK, so I was trying to figure out is the letters on the Wild West sign mean anything & I noticed there are different letters missing on the other side of the sign, but I can’t make them out… can someone get a high res still from the video?
Google Earth shows a building in the back which could be a two-story barn.
Then again, maybe the feed was hung. Guess we’ll find out when they get back to that picture.
If it actually is 500 miles from albany, and they didnt just change the distances to throw people off from vt, its probably northern maine on the coast. The guy in the live feed is prob sailing on the atlantic.
i think that guy was right earlier about the cafe waiter in middlebury…. he said they went 7 north to 125
45 Conant Square, Brandon, VT is where the 7 & 73 sign is. If you look around the sign area you can see the fence.
That’s just the address that Google maps tries to associate the view with. 45 is on the wrong side of the street. If you type in 20, then go to street view, it puts the marker on the house. Try this and confirm if this is the house that you think it matches, too. Thanks.
I checked out that area. Let me look again. Thanks Dennis.
there are a few bed and breakfasts in town may want to check them
They very well could be headed to White Mountain National Forest
OK, rolling again.
Are all the clues a paradox?

Downtown Brandon, VT
7 & 73 signs almost across right across the street from St. Thomas Episcopal Church on Conant Square.

http://www.vtcucc.org/churches/Sudbury.html
East 73 and South 7 would be the junction at Brandon, VT.
New England Maple Museum would be in Pittsford – south on 7.

north on 7 to Pittsford based on looking at sign
Killington, VT next slide – east now on route 4
Another slide show pic shows route 73 and route 7 on the same pole. Brandon VT.
Now in Killington on route 4.
From the current clue, good place to be.
This is turning out to be much more of a challenge than the other two. I was watching on Sept. 10th when the first Journey went live at 9am California time, and I tuned in again just in time to see the winners drive away in the car. They found it about 4 pm California time….so the West search lasted 8 hours. Everyone keeps saying it lasted 16 hours, but the 16 hours is from the time the winners first saw the commercial on TV Friday night, until they found it on Sat. afternoon. See http://www.foxreno.com/11at11/29268067/detail.html
The “live” search on 9/10 only lasted 8 hours. And the Second Journey search, on 9/17, lasted about 5 hours. So this one is definitely the hardest!
it’s not harder… they are just intentionally dragging these new clues out longer than the first 2, because we figured it out before the damn thing even went live….
I dont think they want this thing solved tonight….
still on 7 new killington maple museum found it in street view the exact sign
You are so good at finding things! Thanks.
So the clues are now up in Killington now?
MENDON | KILLINGTON
The statue photo is in Brandon, VT. Sorry, I can’t pull the picture from Google Earth. The coordinates are 43 47 53.38 N 73 05 10.44 W

Another slide – sign showing Mendon and Killington. Cannot tell if they are directional signs. Might be a clue for a side road?
maybe headed to woodstock there is a ntional historic park place over there that was maybe a farm or so.
The historical park had some big wood cutting event today. Would have been crowded.
Did it go overnight with the first Journey?
Only 145 miles from Albany. Does that mean another 350 miles?
Pittsford is where the maple museum is
And another slide show of the Killington sign. Heading east across Vermont.
Now they’re just playing with us. Journeys End Rd is off of route 4 near mountain cemetery and that appears to have the mendon/killington sign.
Back to PJ’s
loose caboose bbq in killington vt which is right by mendon vt where there is a road called journey’s end
Does anyone have all of the slideshow pics?
anyone found where that rainy pic is yet ….. there is a statue in the middle of that roadway triangle……????
Yeah Downtown Brandon VT
Actually there is a house at the end of Journeys End Rd with what appears to be white fences possibly surrounding a riding area. The barn could be in the trees. Can’t tell.

This thing is going straight to Coolidge State Forest – I am telling you it is at the Coolidge Barn in Plymouth Notch!!!!!!! I said that at 1 pm today
You did indeed, and still on track – but wonder, can they use a public historic site for a private commercial venture?
The Back Behind Saloon Restaurant – Killington, VT on Route 4 — is the barbeque joint
West Bridgewater
where the heck is East Hwy 4???
Beaver Valley USA – Fairfax, VT
Found it Bridgewater corners is where 4 east and 100 south meet
Wow! What a Journey … West Bridgewater now.
no way to figure this out till the last picture is shown….
we’re about 70 miles from Ticonderoga now…
280 to go? ha
I’m with you Ben. I’m just adding to the top of my blog a city and town progression. See if I’ve missed any:
Ticonderoga Ferry -> Orwell, VT -> Brandon, VT -> Killington, VT -> West Bridgewater, VT
looks good
now woodstock
moving east on 4
I hope people are getting good screen shots of the stream.
Given that they are streaming these in order (and are slowly releasing on Twitter), I stopped screen caps … We just need the end point (or somewhere near)
does that sign say bridge water park??
Same exact picture found paste this text into Google image search, 3rd picture. “covered bridge bridgewater, vt”

OMG there is the Statue from the rainy pic
billings farm?
House near 12 and 4 sign at 547 East Woodstock Road, Woodstock, Vermont.
Two words: Faux Pas
Two more words:
Round trip
Don’t they have to turn around at some point David? LOL …
Not yet.
Not if it’s 500 miles round trip.
250 puts them comfortably in NH for the night. Perhaps even ME.
This family is putting the journ in sojourners. Mark my words.
so much for 25 miles from clue #5!
Yeah but they pretty well omitted that was an error (on Twitter)
Steven, my new and good friend, were you trying to be ironic in this particular reply?
You are the best, hombre.
They’re heading north on 12 now.
I’m happy as long as they don’t stop at the historcal park in Woodstock. Researched that place for too long last week until I found out that they had an event today. Then I started wondering if the noise we kept hearing was the saw display.
What are all of these pics supposed to represent? Where they went today???
OMG yes William & Stacy…. they show a pic of that grey barn with white trim it is Billings Farm
thats white river junction. you’re about to find out, SB. I say East.
Road signs are in Taftsville, VT.
east on 4…. closer to Quechee
Arghhh! Maybe it is 500 miles driving in circles – while watching boring relatives vacation slides.
Sorry – been here since noon.
I feel your pain N J
think about those hunters in the Ticonderoga, NY area.
yeah,,.,,that would be us!!
i bet its at billings farm……
agreed NJ Deb… they are worse than my holiday pics!
Exact location of signs, 2 East Woodstock Road, Taftsville, Vermont.
Any Boots on the Ground near Billings Farm in WoodStock VT????
Franks alot…come again!
Hotdog place?
This could be far fetched, but…
I bet we’re on our way to White Mountain National Forest in New Hampshire. It’s a large area with a lot of places to look. Judging from where we are in the slideshow, Bridgeport, New Hampshire is on the way. There also happens to be an Woodstock and (my favorite) Albany right next to the forest.
It support of my thoughts, check out these driving directions from Albany to Albany. I added a marker for where the final video clue was.
http://maps.google.com/maps?saddr=Albany,+NY&daddr=43.11806,-73.74424+to:43.87794,-73.71377+to:Albany,+NH&hl=en&ll=43.397065,-72.405396&spn=2.187266,4.938354&sll=43.49876,-72.850342&sspn=1.091801,2.469177&geocode=FaPTigIduJGa-ylL-0_MNAreiTHEKOegEmOh4Q%3BFeztkQIdkMCa-ykvS6VILTfeiTGosqqYuNGOWg%3BFTSGnQIdljeb-yk5nw2tjrPKTDE2dcIPV1Eawg%3BFU_FngId_s_B-ynDymTsqXSzTDEvnNaAZOqeRA&vpsrc=6&gl=us&mra=dpe&mrsp=2&sz=9&via=1,2&t=m&z=8
Compare the slideshow route we’ve been on thus far to the directions above. So far, they’ve been very similar.
If it is a working farm/barn, it might explain there being no sound. The horses might now be in for the evening.
Why the heck are the photos going around in circles it seems
Got a feeling this is a 500 mile road trip, not a 500 mile radius…
the river is:
700 East Woodstock Road, White River Junction, Vermont
Looking down at Quechee Gorge on East Rt 4.
white river junction, vt in picture now
back on rt 4 quechee gorge
this feels endless
Yeah Jenni. And I just keep thinking about those who are in hotel rooms, etc in Ticonderoga area – tough decision in the morning. How bad do you want this?
agreed, the whole thing is getting pretty silly now…. and way off track from the original TV ads.
they are pushing this real life search thing.. yet if you leave a computer, how the hell are you supposed to keep up?
thankfully – if one lucky soul out there is in a car with wifi and youtube up… they arent moving too fast with the pics that you cant keep up in car….
just dont pee or run out of gas…
LOL Ben!
Current map of VT highlighting Quechee Gorge on slideshow can be found just east of the gorge itself, in the parking lot of Quechee Gorge gifts.
nh here we come? yawn
Exit 19 at junction of 4 and 10 – West Lebanon and Hanover.
New Hampshire (4 and 10) ….
here we come.
Lebanon and Hanover are in New Hampshire. Dartmouth is in Hanover. Been to both places.
ahh, now in NH, way to mislead us dodge
According to Google Maps, exit 19 is 2 hrs and 30 mins from the ferry and it’s taken them 2.5 hrs to go thru the slideshow. I don;t think your really supposed to “Guess EXACTLY” where it is, I bet they lead you to its’ shiny red 4 door yumminess.
After this form of watch our family vacation slideshow torture … that’s the least they could do. It’s going to be a race in the morning
Enfield NH – The Baited Hook
http://offbeateats.org/2008/10/baited-hook-lebanon-nh/
Macoma Lake
spent all day (i live in 12870) out, went over the ferry, up to mt indy, around vt and back, waaahhhh! LOL
You’re a trooper Jon. I don’t think, in our wildest dreams, they could have pulled this. (I’m sure everyone had expectations of somewhere near the last two searches)
Baited Hook Restaurant in Lebanon, NH
The Baited Hook. Baited Hook Restaurant Route 4A Lebanon, NH 03766
baited hook in Lebanon on rt 4
ok – going for a sleep, think I will be headed to Maine tomorrow!
The Baited Hook is a restaurant in Lebanon, NH.
Baited Hook….Wordplay! Think about it!
HI!! Still going here!!! ;D Kids finally about to sleep.
Um… can you tell how often the live feed is updating and SB,… how long are you staying up to keep these updated?
Hi Amy! Great to hear from someone still in the hunt
My hats off to you. I will stay up and continue updating for as long as needed. Cheers!
The feed is done Amy. Trying to get a lock on the very last location. All the best!
Clearly…this is a very poor plan ‘C’,,,most likely contrived by the crew a couple of days ago. There’s no way they could have filmed anything new…but driving around and tking pictures, that would be no problem and not noticed by anyone. At this point following the slide show, one town at a time, is ridonkulous. The video clues were not connected at all to this search. The fun part was watching the video and deciphering those clues…not watching a crappy slideshow and figuring out which way they go based on road signs…really!!?..any 5 year old can do that!
there is a baited hook enterprizes at 429 NEW BOSTON RD
Norwich, Vermont 05055
Baited Hook Restaurant, Route 4A Lebanon, NH 03766
Nancy’s Way
Wolfeboro, NH 03894
too much of a jump. they are heading to Andover NH next
Nancy’s Way, Wolfeboro, NH though there is also a Nancy’s Way, Raymond, ME.
It seems like the slides are going in order so probably NH
WHAT???????? No More Slides??????
Where was the college / private school (white buildings) located?
I believe it was Norwich University
and…. slideshow over…. now something fun?
Was Nancy’s Way, the last one?
that Nancy’s Pkwy sign…. There is a nancys pkwy in Wolfboro NH
Anyone still driving around deserves not only a Journey, but a medal of commendation and sainthood!!!! Kudos to you, whoever you are!!!
NH 4A in Sanford, NH?
OMG! There’s more? *SMH*
but wait…. there’s more!!!
they need to wake up Michael C Hall and record a few extra voice overs by phone…
this silent slideshow $#!T is gonna make us bonkers….
back at 9a EST…
good luck to all those still on the hunt..
OK, now I am STUMPED!!!! LOL
OK is everyone as confused as i am????
lame, over?
LOL Jon!
Zillow.com Lists a 14 Nancy Way in Enfield, NH.
ok, so there’s a 10 minute delay on the feed?
CLOCKS A LITTLE SLOW/
I thought the slideshow was actually a clever way to get us through VT and into NH.
And, as I kind of thought, they would not carry this on tonight into the dark hours for safety / legal reasons.
Sweet dreams, everyone. And, remember the TK Bridge.
If not that, then reaching the Atlantic Ocean sometime tomorrow afternoon is my 2nd guess.
Last thing I saw was south on 4A… I’m guessing that’s from hwy 4
That was after Nancy’s Way?
Yeah, it was just a pic of a road sign that said south 4A
My map showed that to be true.
So, here’s the thing. They’re going to start the slideshow again tomorrow, when everyone that is still in hunt should be well on their way to the last stop in the slideshow, where they’ll have to sit back down and watch more?? Ack!
Done. made it all he way to last clue. But time is not on our side, and we must end this chase. Nothing like we expected.
Roads in VT were very bad. Repaired somewhat, but large potholes and torn up sections. That, and many, many BAD BAD drivers who were passing on double yellows, cutting us off, tailgating, and the whole 9 yards. No prize is worth a car crash.
Wow. You’re the first I’ve heard from that got there. Can’t believe they have more of this nonsense planned for the morning. Where exactly did you end up? (and thanks for checking in)
At the end of 4A in Andover, NH. It heads toward Concord. More revolutionary stuff.
OK. Thanks. Where was the Nancy’s Way sign? (And are you done or just calling it a night?) All the best!
Anyone else nervous that this route has the potential to end at 95?? It could be anywhere.
So… that means we still have no clue correct, since this turned into a wild goose chase.
wonder why the clock is 10 minutes behind on the live feed?
(As Steven’s fingers go numb and all the skin falls off from updating his webpage…He remembers one of many comments from today……”Dodge is EVIL!”)
To those driving, Stay safe.
Actually Tim – my neck is as tight as a board and arms are borderline numb
But I agree, for those boots on the ground, drive safely, get some sleep.
Journey’s End Farm is just outside of Providence, RI, where Leo Laporte used to live. How’s that sound?
The Baited hook restaurant in lebanon NH is on Hwy 4A
Interesting in that I just went to their website and the link to JEF Pictures is broken. Hmmmm…
The barn has been redone and is completely remodeled with wall windows and Sheetrock paint and a Chandler. http://acquiredobjects.blogspot.com/2011/06/details-details-details.html
Been driving for 20 hrs. Have visually seen every clue so far. Talked to the wood gallery owner just off the ferry on 73.
I have my laptop tethered to my cell phone for internet…..God I love being a nerd. This is for my wife’s B-Day Present. And BTW if you follow the clues to this point to Providence it is still only 400 miles give or take a few. I found this site and saw the clues I worked on had been here but Steve I found PJ’s 2 days sooner….but I love this blog!!!
I was able to keep up with the slide show clues thanks to the wife while driving and lack of cell service…but my roaming fees are going to be rediculous…LOL spent about $250.00 on this trip so far.
Good Luck Everyone!
Hi Paul (and fellow nerd
) Sounds like you’ve kept your spirits up – despite the weather, reported road conditions and major twist. Best of luck to you!
We will continue coverage here: http://stevenbarley.net/2011/09/25/dodge-journey-search-east-live-updates-day-2/
Cheers!
4A is actually in Sanford ME, (not HN) and runs both NE and SE out of town.
Who ever woulda thunk that they were gonna go to New Hampshire
Well, the same state theory is, without a doubt, debunked (and we expected b/c of VT indications)
Going back to our b&b. Left our clothes and already paid.5am comes early! Who would have thought….not me!
500 mile Journey. First 110+ miles get us to through the video hints, and down to the 73/74 split and the slide show (Note that the Journey ends within 350 more Miles). They take us another 100 miles tonight in 3 hours. Tomorrow, we have 250 or so miles left to go. Hmmmm….
so with the sign that Dodge put up when you get off the ferry in VT, it states that the journey is within 350 miles, 350 miles from that sign could be Portland, ME
maybe it’s bad weather… or a planning miscue… or a last minute production change… but i hope with the night to work out a better solution than a slideshow… we get something fun and exciting for the finale….
not a barn….
and please God, not another state policeman… ha
Just speculating. Rt 4 would take them right into Loudon. And there is a horsepower race there tomorrow.
Steve, Do you think they would double back to Independence it would be very close to 500 miles
Hi Ed. As a general FYI – the clues have always been radius clues. Max distance as the crow flies.
I almost shudder at the thought of that though. No idea really at this point. What they’ve done today has me baffled. Everyone, I’m sure, expected something along the lines of what we have seen in the last two searches. So to get everyone tout and start exploring (like last Saturday), dragging out the clues for most of the day, and then, after a long day, show them more travel will be required (while they’re trying to get some rest), and knowing there may be more travel tomorrow … and then, sending them all the way back, just cruel (of course, sending them far from their arrival point, can be viewed equally the same). Suffice it to say, I’m conflicted
Thanks for all the help, The miles work if you plot a to b to c, I think last week was the same if you plotted each clue but it ended to soon the radius is to big from Canada to Pennsylvania, I thinking patriotic and horses Mt. Washington NH. or Paul Revere in concord MA. I live on the MA. NH. border so if is close I’ll go. After the race I would like to talk to you about Masonic Temples thanks again Ed.
It seems like if all the boots would have put $100 in a pot, you could have gone out and got a new one and raffeled it off
P,S. YOU SHOULD ALL SEND $1 to SB FOR ALL HIS HELP, after all his eletric bill is goning up using all his cpus, laptops etc
Thank U Steven, & Good nite
maybe we should all pledge it to SB – in case one of us finds it!
Baxter
Steve I am out there in nh where should I go possibly?
Hi Megan. Wow (I may as well roll the dice
) They’re in the Lebanon/Wolfeboro NH area in the slide show and will continue tomorrow. If you’re going to run for it, and depending on where you live, you could either start near the last know locations and move out as we, collectively call it, or after they get to a stopping point, head out (if you’re close). Your call, though. Whichever is best …
Really funny – the Youtube crowd told them to fix the clock – and they did. Gave the crowd a thumbs up.
They were trying to move the slides closer to the camera earlier at the netizens request.
So much for NOT running the search on the internet. Maybe that is what is really messing them up – the East Coast crowd is a little more wired (in more ways than one!) for action.
Who has two thumbs and long ago predicted White Mountain? THIS GUY!
There is a barn there. Russell-Colbath Barn http://www.fs.fed.us/r9/forests/white_mountain/recreation/rog_r-c_barn.pdf It also states in the pdf that a generator runs electricity into the barn for lighting and audio-visual equipment, which could be the steady loud sound I commented about earlier today. Also, it is rented out for a daily fee.
Plus, this barn looks (and is) fairly new.
That is a real possibility. The planking on this barn is similar to the “live barn shots” and it would explain the window reflections mentioned earlier that we could see in the paint job on the car.
Yes, that barn does look good. The only problem I see is that in pictures of it on the web, it appears to have a concrete, not timber, floor. ?
We spent most of the day touring the White Mountains, and the surrounding area, just in case, and did not find the Journey!
Not if they’re going south on 4a
Doesn’t 4A run southeast too?
Acadia is on the coast
Dodge has all the slideshow pics up on their Facebook page… FYI!
Could the Wild West Ranch sign refer to NH route 1B on the East coast near the Maine border?
I believe the video clues, made weeks or months ago, were made obsolete by them moving to a new location in the last few days. So I wouldn’t put any more stock into anything in the videos.
Let me change that a little. I think all of the shots in the barn were shot within the last week to take the place of shots that pointed toward the Mt. Independence/ferry area.
Notice there is no family anymore in the barn. It’s “Live Guy,” who has never been in any clue videos before.
http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10150391628629224.409025.7346304223&saved
That’s how they should have done it in the first place. Thanks for checking David!
Really enjoying this blog. Here’s my $.04
I think the third Journey was supposed to be in Vermont but since it was functionally solved before it went live, Dodge decided to drive off with the car to a new spot to make it more difficult.
-the shot of Brandon, VT. I was there today for a wedding, about 2 blocks past that intersection. See the little scarecrow on the bottom right – those have been put up recently as harvest decorations. And that weather? That’s recent too – could have been this morning even – foggy and rainy, then again could have been earlier in the week when the weather was similar. In other words, the commercials footage was done some time ago, the new photos, in the past week.
-I missed something in the continuity – the east coast Journey had 2 bikes on top and now, no bikes, but a jetski. How did that happen and why? Or is that not relevant now (kayaks on the river out west – was there something in the midwest, I don’t recall)
-The 5th clue initially said that the radius was 25 miles then that was fixed. That would indicate to me that the idea that they switched gears in the last couple of days has merit.
-If this contest all pulls together neatly and coherently, then cool, but if Dodge has enticed people to come to Vermont and spend their weekend hunting for this and then at the last minute they decided to add some new wrinkles and make the search last longer, then I think that’s a pretty crappy thing to do.
http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10150391628629224.409025.7346304223
Was out there all day, muddy orange element. didnt want to have to drive to maine because its a 12 hr drive home and another 200 in gas at least to go look for a barn that literally could be anywhere. Took a simmilar route they are taking now to mt kathadin me in baxter, even went through woodstock vt, didnt have gps then. They are likely heading there or acadia which is on an island though accessible by bridge. Jet sking anyone?
So, 4-A is in New Hampshire still (as indicated by the icon on the road sign itself, and that means we are probably running SE out of Enfield, NH.
Past Mascoma Lake.
Theories?
Enfield Shaker Museum is popular theory at the moment. Fits with the NH 4-A South Clue. EXCEPT…..The only Nancy’s Way I can scrounge up is in Wolfeboro, NH. This puts that clue out of order, or it is a private sign (on a driveway perhaps) that someone driving would have had to recognize.
Steve it was unsafe and insane this evening. We came up 89 to 4 this morning, sat at a nice wifi spot waiting for the 12pm start, based upon a hunch we spent the day in and around Brandon. The clues were crap. 500 miles to start and 375 the last. As you know nothing there to help. And then this insane slide show. Cars were flying down 4E from Brandon to Woodstock. Cars passing on flood damaged roads. I about had a heart attack. I won’t be out tomorrow following a slide show like a dog on a leash with crazy drivers. Not to mention we could end up in Virginia Beach. A great idea gone way wrong.
Totally agree. I’m sorry this is long, but I am so exhausted and upset. We came west from 89 on Sat. morning, headed for the Green Mt. Forest area. Discovered Routes 100 and 107 were terribly damaged fyom the floods–totally closed off in some places. We took a detour that was itself full of hillside roads whose outer edges had completely given way, with 20′-60′ drops to the rivers below (the rivers were a complete mess, too–banks covered in a thick tangle of trees and flood debris). We checked out a few lakes and various spots. At 7pm we were leaving Hubbardston, back to Brandon. Our home-based partner called when the slide show came on. We took a pic of “downtown Brandon” and headed back toward 89. Lots of out-of-state cars were driving very aggressively. To the driver with the mid-sized car with Florida plates: if you kill yourself, or someone else, you will not be driving a Dodge or anything else!!! We had seen how bad some of those roads were, but we felt sure many of these other drivers were clueless, may e having come from the little-affected NY side. It was NOT cool! We called it quits at about 9:20 in Lebanon, NH, only to find that there was literally not one hotel room available anywhere around (Days Inn told me it’s Parents’ Weekend” at the colleges there. Perfect.). Having driven for 14-hours -already, this precipitated a complete blow-up from my traveling partner. A lot of angry words later, we arrived all the way back in Boston at half past midnight–exhausted, angry, and needlessly out-of-pocket for the rental car, gas, and unpaid day-off from work. Hey Dodge, there is a huge freakin’ difference between not winning something because another player played better than me, and not winning something because it wasn’t possible to win it in the first place. I really have no words right now, except for these 7: I swear I’ll never buy a Dodge!
What a crazy day. Thanks to all and a hugh thank you to you Steve… My uncle is almost back home in Elmira after I talked him into this wild ride today, but he is not upset he said he saw a lot of beautiful scenery today and thought it was neat to see the hand written signs reading Journey not here. Thanks all cant wait to see what happens tomarrow
The buildings appear to be part of the Enfield Shaker Museum
Just received an email clue from Dodge (first one today!) Shows the last pic (4A South) and a link to the complete set on FB. Cheers!
How many miles has it gone so far?
That first FB slide: That’s a white rearview mirror, not red as is the Journey supposedly travelling through the contest videos and also it does not appear to be a rearview mirror of a Journey. Sigh. Guessing it would be from the truck hauling the Journey to a new location. Can someone ID what kind of car that mirror is on?
The white rearview mirror in the first slideshow pic is off of a Chevy Impala I am pretty sure. Apparently the Journey wasn’t reliable enough for the “family” to make their trip and they had use a Chevy! Ha. Check out the photos here:http://www.edmunds.com/chevrolet/impala/2012/ I would guess it is a rental, but you’d have thought they could have gotten a Mopar for the job or, heaven forbid, used a red Journey!
http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10150391628629224.409025.7346304223
I’m thinking it’s going to end in Acadia National Park, ME. It’s about exactly 500 miles from Albany, a National Park…and follows along with the other contests (and car competitors- Tahoe, Yukon, Acadia). Also, there’s an Eagle Lake right in Bar Harbor, ME. There’s also an Eagle Lake, NY right next to Paradox Lake…
More likely acadia, northern woods are timber land, ie no farm barns, acadia and the coast or more simmilar to the rest of rural new england, farm houses and the like
Found the Google Street View of the museum-type white buildings.
It is on 4-A South
Caleb Dyer Lane / New Hampshire 4A, Enfield, New Hampshire, United States
Address is approximate
Its on North Shore road
On Paradox Lake “The Pardox” on the sign
East Side of Schroon Lake
go there to find it
I would but im in Orlando
Hi Dino. No, they’re in New Hampshire right now. Check my post re: Slideshow clues to get the latest. Cheers!
Not sure about the Nancy’s Way pic. It seems out of order. Here’s the Enfield Shaker Museum on 4A. http://maps.google.com/maps/place?hl=en&sugexp=pfwc&cp=11&gs_id=17&xhr=t&gs_upl=&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.&biw=1220&bih=747&um=1&ie=UTF-8&q=enfield+shaker+museum&fb=1&gl=us&hq=enfield+shaker+museum&hnear=enfield+shaker+museum&cid=5579503798933332171&ei=-4p-ToKfEuWMsALE6qkF&sa=X&oi=local_result&ct=photo-link&cd=1&resnum=1&sqi=2&ved=0CEwQnwIoADAA
It was a wasted day there was zero chance to find the Journey based on the clues that were given today. After 14 hours on the road we have zero gain. I could have spent the entire day watching my grass grow and I would have the same knowledge I have at this point. And I don’t want to hear “it’s about the Journey”. Why wasn’t the west or the Midwest a two day gig? Or if dodge intended to shake it up, they could have warned everyone. I feel bad for the folks that spent many hours getting to VT, like a chap and his daughter who drove all the way up from VA.
I completely agree with you. They’re actually punishing individuals who had expectations of the last two, although the West did take 16 hours … but that was to try and track it down in a fixed location, not a moving one. And there’s more tomorrow? Geesh.
inside of the barn…
http://www.popeyexpress.com/2009/09/exploring-kancamagus-hwy-nh.html
the slats don’t match up inside that barn :/
and the floor is wrong
4-A South terminates just west of Andover, NH.
Tomorrow, we’ll get a good early idea at that juncture if they are heading further east (into Maine and the Atlantic Ocean?) or beginning to double back home to the Albany area.
No coincidence, I think, that we are sitting appx. 250 miles away from point of origin in Albany tonight.
Those of you in NY ….. I suggest you stay put.
Think about that David. If they (Dodge) make them run all the way out to NH (force them into a night’s stay, plus meals) and send them back, wouldn’t you be a bit put off? (and you still need time, once you get into the general area, to search – that alone can take 3-4 hours, and some luck)
I agree.
But, I think they are bent on “proving” this thing can go 500 miles on a single tank.
Whether that means actual east coast or back to Albany I don’t know. Though the TK (southbound) Bridge image still haunts me and has since the moment I first looked at that treeline.
What is better, Steven? To lead all of those hunters from the NY area deep into Maine on a Sunday night (and expect them to get back before the work week starts) or to “drive” them back toward the Albany / NYC area?
What makes the most sense, perhaps, is that the barn is not too far away at this point in Enfield. Maybe another two to three hours worth of clues in the morning. It’s found by noon-ish, giving time for the vast majority of folks to journey home before nightfall (again).
By the way, I Google mapped the trek to date and it ran right around 230 miles.
Ha, ha … maybe so. Gotcha on the TK bridge but we still had that West bound shot by Eagle Lake too. And you know what, you’re right … I suppose it would be better to send them back to the start … to search in the very region they spent most of the morning and afternoon in …
My dad lives very, very close to where these pictures were taken. I guess I should have dropped in for a visit this weekend.
some notes for those who can get good resolution shots to confirm locations for slide show;
nancy’s way street sign – (in Gansevoort, ny just north of saratoga springs and east of I-87
south 4-a sign – aka gansevoort rd north of country road 32 per mls directions)
west on route 4 & 10 to W lebonon hanover (exit sign) on I-87 at Baliston spa, ny) pass this exit to get to Malta drive in sign? Malta road is pretty close
Friendly reminder to any boots on the ground: if you do look in a barn, make sure to check the hayloft too. Most barns don’t have wood slats on the main floor. My $.02 as a one-time farmhand
Sorry to sound ignorant, but how would you get a car up into a hayloft?
I didn’t say it wasn’t a stretch
Some barns have a lift, similar to a cargo elevator without the walls, that could do it. Or it could just be a ramp in the barn that you could drive up. The weight of the car wouldn’t be an issue at all.
Some styles of Barns use the slope of the land or a ramp to allow you to drive into the upper level.
Depends on what the “ground floor” is. My Grandfather had a barn that you drove onto the second floor from the road, there was a “basement” accessible from the base of the hill, and it had a hay loft also. The floor you drove onto from the road was wood slat. And no, this isn’t my Grandfather’s barn, unless the end up in Ohio!
Hadrian
What is really sad is that contrary to what Dodge said the only way you could get to the last clue was if you used the Internet. It’s not like there were any roadside hints or clues. Everything had to be relayed or picked up from Tweets.
I’m using the 3.5 hour drive home to discuss today’s activity with my son and we are both in pretty foul moods.
Thinking about it, I guess this didn’t make for safe driving or energy conservation.
Wasnt the idea behind this to get people outside, not trying to break inside of barns on private property? The world wide world: its in a barn.
The adventure is getting arrested for trespassing on private property and the adventure continues Monday when you have to drive back to Vt. Monday morning for court.
LOL (and let’s hope that’s not the case)
The missing letter theory….maybe it’s a stretch…anyone notice a missing D, I, and A from any clues?
A- Missing letter from “Malta” drive-in
C- Missing letter from “Adirondack Marathon” bib
A- First missing letter when he begins to type “Friends Lake” into GPS
D ?
I ?
A ?
That theory is so crazy it’s probably right!
Diamond Park in Lake George?!?
May not be a bad theory. If you put in all the clue points and then after Enfield, NH, put Acadia National Park as the next stop (in Google maps), it is exactly 500 miles from Albany, NY through all of those midpoints to Acadia National Park and they continue to travel along .
Maybe the missing D-I-A clues are in things that we will see tomorrow.
Also – we saw a clue for Beaver Country USA – and the Beaver Log, is Acadia’s annual newspaper. Journey dude set the clock in front of the easel on part of a log.
Google map updated. Revised initial route, departing Albany, NY to Ti Ferry (on Vermont side) – Approximately 125-130 miles.
Expanded route (Slideshow clues) added approximately 110 miles.
First checkin today. My general takeaway is that today was the production companies way of saying “screw you” to everyone for posting the final location. Seems a little juvinile to me, lots of people were left out in enfield nh to try and figure out what to do tonight. Lots of cars driving on roads they are unfamilar with.
Just my 2 cents
Im very dissapointed that it has devolved into a game of follow the leader and not too much thought was needed for the slideshow clues
Hi Daniel. Yeah, it was a very long day
If in fact the “final” location was exposed, you’d think they could have just relocated 10, 15, even 25 miles down the road. Taken about 5 or so, cryptic shots, that would require some research, and then, as has been the case when you get close, just start searching an area – and then done, call it day, head on home.
If this is there way of exploring the World Wide World, they should have let everyone know in advance (that we have some “special” planned for you)
Cheers!
I doubt that they COULD have moved it 10, 15, 25 miles. Remember how many people were going crazy about every enclosed trailer they saw in western Vermont? They almost had to take it far away, because so many people were camped out at suspected locations.
And it probably isn’t easy to find a property that is available for rent or purchase that is out of the way enough, even without people crawling all around.
I just wish they had announced that they were moving away from their plan.
I think that was mostly within 5 miles or so of Ticonderoga but I get your point. Still though, I’d be surprised they couldn’t find land, an abandon lot, somewhere about 20-25 miles away … set up shop and resort to the skill-based tie-break then
Kinda pissed about running all over VT this morning & afternoon wasting gas while the real hunt did not begin till after 6:00pm. I mean if you got kids, no hotel etc.. etc.. it was kinda what the?
I can only imagine Sam. I just don’t get the execution on this at all … and there’s more in the morning
We started in Lake George to Ti, to the ferry, back to Eagle Lake and Paradox Lake, all around Schroon Lake ( and then got the clue that we were not within the 25 mile clue, that we were within 375 miles) and headed back to the Lake George area…It was a long but fun day and we got a kick out of running into many people parked on the side of the road with their maps, laptops and phones spread out. We did get out and peer into some barns, but no Journey..lol…We may try again tomorrow hoping they double back, but I feel bad for all the people heading to Maine….This is crazy, and it is a game and a challenging one at that…
Hi Patricia. Thanks a bunch for reporting in. All the best!
I think most pretty well expected a 10-15 mile regional search, max … not a drive across the country.
The buildings with all the windows – Enfield Shaker Museum.
http://www.shakermuseum.org/infogreatstonedwelling.htm
There is a Nancy’s Way street in Enfield.
There are MSL real estate listings for it.
It must be a subsecondary road, closest I can get it to is by George Pond on South on NH 4-A.
Robin,
Thanks for the updated information. That clarifies a point we were not clear on earlier.
I think that is actually brilliant, Jamie. Kudos to you.
I mapped it out and came up with:
497 miles 11 hours 13 minutes
from Albany to Bar Harbor, Maine (Acadian National Forest).
I’d be even more inclined to think it is correct if the C (Schroon Lake clue) and the second A (Friends Lake clue) were not out of geographic / chronologic order.
But if we make it all the way to the Atlantic —
“Ocian in view! O! the (reverse) joy”
Except, of course, for the multitude of people who now have a day’s drive to get back home. Expect a further tanking of the stock market on Monday as half of the East coast calls in sick.
At least I am signed up for the CNBC million dollar challenge
Steven -
Probably best to take Wolfeboro, NH out of the list at the top of the blog page.
For now ………
Got it and thanks David. I didn’t think we settled on Nancy’s Way.
Zooming in on the green street sign using Google’s Street View looks correct for Wolfeboro Corinthian Yacht Club, Nancy’s Way, Wolfeboro, NH
Meant …..
Acadia National Forest earlier (not Acadian).
I’m out on the west coast in the comforts of home and apparently getting tired. Can only imagine how taxing that day was for anyone actually out there in the World Wide World.
Although …. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Acadians
Just kidding. I don’t think they would steer us into Canada. Or, would they …….. ?
Robin Hall is correct. There is a Nancy’s Way in Enfield. Google Map doesn’t seem to know about it, but there are a number of addresses listed on that street in Enfield, VT in straight-up Google. Wolfeboro, NH isn’t indicated by the path.
In Enfield, NH, sorry.
Anyone near Maine…go check out Wildwood Stables in Acadia NP…that barn looks big enough to hide a car.
http://www.carriagesofacadia.com
Not sure it is here. My family is from that area- it is way up in Houlton, Maine.
Thought about that – scoured the internet for pics of the inside of the barn. They have some photos on their FB Page.
http://www.facebook.com/pages/Carriages-of-Acadia/184612330792?sk=photos
Also did a Google image search with their phone number and came up with a few more photos, but nothing really set to match.
It looks as though they have boarding stables as well – that could be a possibility I suppose. Maybe they have rented a stable, taken down some of the stall dividers. There are those square holes on the post on the right side in the live view – those could be for stall dividers.
Just grasping at this hour! LOL
I think we will have to wait until morning. But if the route starts heading to Maine, I think this is a real possibility!
On the road since 7am, musta did a gazillion miles, I know every inch of Snake Mountain ( don’ t ask LOL) and got home at 11pm. Gonna wind down and back at it in the AM.
Thanks for checking in. You survived … and that’s a good thing. They’re making someone earn this Journey, that’s for sure.
How did you get to Andover or Wolfeboro?
Hi Douglas. I removed Wolfeboro (we were still trying to pinpoint the Nancy’s Way sign, had a hit there but it’s off route). I’m going to remove Andover as well. They show us 4 south but not how far they travel (and we haven’t matched the sign). Cheers!
I can’t find Nancy’s way in Enfield NH. and I can’t get a good pic of google earth in Wolfeboro NH.
I think it is one of those subsecondary roads and Google Earth cam did not get it. If you Google Nancys Way, Enfield, NH – you will find MLS real estate listings for that street in Enfield, NH. They point to an area near George Pond on NH 4-A South, just south of the Enfield Shaker Village that is a confirmed photo from the slideshow.
http://www.shakermuseum.org/
You have to check regular Google, not Google Maps, for Nancy’s Way, Enfield, NH addresses. It won’t pop on the Maps search.
I am in Illinois and was on the Midwest search, 25 miles away when it was found, I am totally enjoying this but now I am getting irritated with Dodge. I have never been this far east, but has anyone thought about Barnstable, MA area or the tippy tip of Cape Cod Providencetown, from Albany it is 70 miles shy from 500 miles. Just a thought, them sticking it in the middle of nowhere.
We met another “team” searching all the way from Iillinois! Good luck to you all!
I really appreciate this page, Steven. I hope tomorrow will bring a new one with new comments as the scrolling is now almost as hard as the searching.
That’s a good idea Marilyn. Thanks
yea start a new thread, Part II. its impossible to drive and scroll through 1000 comments on an iphone, takes like 5 min.
I can find property for sell on Nancy’s Way in Enfield, but I can’t actually find Nancy’s Way on Yahoo Maps or Googleearth. As I recall the Route 4a reference came after the Nancy’s Way reference so I think they may still be in the Enfield area, notWolfesboro. Also a lot of barns in snow country have drive in access to the hay mow or 2nd floor in case of,well, snow. Look for a dirt/stone ramp on one side with a short bridge to doors on the 2nd floor.
The post with the LIVE sign on it seems to show lots of wear/age.
The post to the right has an unused mortise in it that probably wasn’t cut in the last 50 years. However the siding strikes me as being newer so it may be an old barn thats been refurbished.
Spent half the day looking through the back roads of the lake Paradox area, the other half searching e very farm in Vermont rand then a two hour drive through Vermont into new hampshire that felt more like a rally car race. Now were sitting on 4a waiting for the sun to rise with no place to sleep on a dead end journey into the new hampshire backwoods. Ill just say this: if I don’t win this car im officially never setting foot in a dodge again and I don’t ever want to hear someone complain about that texola clue again
Hey Spencer. I’ve been in touch with one other in that area (and another who stopped near Lebanon). They’re definitely making you earn it … Geesh. (And I’m completely with you on Texola … that was a lollypop
) Get some rest. One way or another, this is wrapping up tomorrow.Cheers!
Steve, based upon today’s activities, how can you even guess it ends tomorrow? Based upon what clue or tip from dodge? And thats the rub, you could have said the exact same thing yesterday. And if all they do is put up more “slides” folks could be chasing the clues all the way to Virginia Beach, VA
I can’t. All we had before this morning was history as a guide. That set expectations. I don’t quite get the slides, esp when they said after the 4pm clue that they were switching to the real world clues, no more online clues. But they were all online (slow during the live show, slow via twitter, then finally bundled as a package on FB as an album – we all could have waited) And as you put it earlier, everything had to be relayed to you. There was one physical sign that I heard of and no more. If they wanted to change it up and engage everyone in the World Wide World, they could have switched to a set of signs, and markers with in a 5-10 mile radius, keeping the contest length at a reasonable length. (I know the west search ran 16 hours, but it stayed in the same region) I did think last week, from a marketers perspective, they would have liked to have this run a bit longer (they were running the Midwest commercial during Sunday’s football games … and the car was not still there) … but this confounds me. All the best!
agreed on the dodge boycott!!!
I was out there all day that was crap. Enjoyment for the people not actually playing
Where did you guys get andover vt and wolfeboro from? I’m just trying to figure out where the south 4a sign is.
Hey Curtis. I removed Wolfeboro (we had a Nancy’s Way hit there but it’s off route) and Andover, NH too. 4A South ends there, and someone else went that far, but I haven’t found the exact sign yet, so all we can say is hit 4A south for now. Cheers!
Steven…I’ve been fascinated by this competition since I heard about it last week. Yours is the first site I found with info that matched my first attempt to figure it out (saw the Vermont sign in the video from last week) and I’ve been glued to the updates today when I could take breaks from work – here, and twitter and YouTube and Facebook. Being in the mid Atlantic and working all weekend means no searching for me…so thanks so much for providing this as a way to help the rest of us live vicariously! I agree with the prior comment – any chance of a new page for comments? Scrolling on the iPhone is getting rather cumbersome.
. And thanks again!!
Thanks Amy and I will have a new page set up tomorrow morning. All the best!
Route 4a splits off Route 4 west of Enfield NH and runs ESE until it rejoins Route 4 west of Andover NH.
another idea, someone mention acadia national park in ME, there is a historic barn tour, one on the list is the stone barn it is in mount desert. it is also around 500 miles give or take a few depending on what roads they would actually take. well i wish everyone luck in the morning. i am hoping they drop the one back in the midwest again so i can search
There is a Nancy’s Way in Lower Shaker Village, Enfield. It should be on page 10A of the tax map, but the map appears to be out of date. There was a town resolution to change the street name in 2007.

There is no street sign for Nancy’s Way on the route. Even if it exists, it would be visible from the highway.
Found the South 4a sign on google maps…its just passed Chrystal Lake Rd…and that is the end
That may very well be it Kristina. I’ve been street viewing my way down 4a, but wasn’t down that far. Cheers!
I’m pretty sure Kristina is right. Excellent eyes, K!
If you look closely, you can see that the telephone pole has the same kinds of darker colorations and the two wires that support the pole seem to be extending at the correct angles.
Wonder if the “family” stayed in Andover for the night?
This the 4-A sign you are talking about?

Yes, I believe it is. Posted a similar response below before going back and rereading. Oops!

This is an interesting page, but Im def glad this car is nowhere near where I live else I’m afraid i might be one of these suckers out there searching for it.. You know in the end some schmo is going to turn on his tv, spend 5 minutes on this site and realize that its right down the road from his house and claim it..
EXIF data from south4A.jpg indicates that the picture was taken on Friday, 9/23 at 8:38am. (That could be west coast time).
Sitting in albany, NY on Madison ave as i type this at the Dead Presidents Lounge tattoo shop. Told all my buds about this and the 5 of us agreed that if one of us finds it we will be giving it to our friend who is expecting twins in the upcoming weeks. I have a strong feeling it will be back in this area tomorrow. Well at least the clues will be. Id love to see this go to Monday morning when everyone has to get back out of my home town for the most part and head back to work. I live east of Albany in a smaller town called Averill Park, NY. Not to far from the MA, VT and CT borders. Found a couple spots online ill be checking out in the morning to see if i have any luck. Thanks for the hints and tips on here, please make A new page tomorrow so i can check it again from the road. Thanks!!
Good luck Glenn!
We’ll do our best to help.
Can’t see them dragging this on till Monday.
Dodge sticks doesnt do much Monday morning advertising…
far too may network syndicates to deal with..
Less than 200 miles to go… is about 8 hours…
we’ll be looking for this to end by 5p EST tomorrow…
stay tuned
the distance seems to be acadia, maine
i am not going to drive from where i am to there, but my guess would be the stables in the park by jordan pond

Steven, you still up? I’ve been thinking about the missing letters. Sorry if someone has covered all these. But I think we can add an “H,” here’s why:
On the Wild West Ranch sign, I think all the missing letters on the front side are to catch your attention. On the back side, there’s a lot missing too, BUT, the word ” orse” is clearly there. Your mind automatically wants to make it “horse” because of the sign. So clearly definable, missing letters, in order, of what I (and others) have found:
A -Malta
H -horse
C -Adirondack
I can’t find any other missing letters in the in the videos (that remain missing). They may try to do something with the Friends Lake – but they don’t remain missing like the others.
its definitely something im working on tonight…
but – being in the biz services industry…. i can see why they would drop the C in Adirondack to not infringe on any copyrights – ive called wild west west ranch a few times… no answers..
far too many letters missing on their signs
but BBQ
RIBS
gelding
mondays
fit in far too easily on their missing letters….
and we dont know if that A is actually missing from Malta…
we need eyes on from TODAY
I’m just going with stuff that Dodge has put up with missing letters, not street view. I figure if Dodge put it in the commercial, then they intended it to be that way. It’s possible the missing letters are just accidental or a red herring, especially since they moved the search off to farther east, but I’m looking for puzzles to solve, not slide shows to stare at.
Don’t you think the BQ are too far left to be able to fit another B in front?
My thoughts on the missing letters it The end is now the beginning….The 1st Journey started in CA and the only two TRUE MISSING letters were C and A….Maybe a coincidence but what was in CA that is in Maine?
The route from 4A in Enfield to Wolfeboro might make sense if you were on your way to Albany. Albany, NH, that is. http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/23/enfieldtoalbany.jpg/
Try http://img23.imageshack.us/img23/3366/enfieldtoalbany.jpg if that didn’t work
Cape cod is a “national seashore” and is within the radius
Did anyone check the West Meadow Barn in the Enfield Shaker Museum ? That’s where the last two slideshow pics are near
In the last video (325 mile clue) when the guy opens the car door it gives a pretty good reflection of what is off camera. I think you can see out the door. Anyone have the technology to slow that down and go frame by frame?
how does one enter as a “at home participator”
Hi R.A. There is not an official designation, you just play along (now). Visit Dodge’s YouTube page for more: http://youtube.com/dodge Cheers!
Check Google Street Level for “South 4A” sign at Rt 4A & Shaker Hill Rd, Enfield, NH…look just south of intersection. Is this the sign/pole combination?

I know everyone has done their fair share of complaining, but I am also just a bit bummed. I drove up from Philly Friday morning, camped out (while getting poured on all night) and was really excited to explore the country for a while and see what happens. To know that the small moments where I thought I was close and excited, I was actually possibly 350 miles away makes me feel stupid. I mean I seriously put SO MANY miles on my Jeep. I can’t go all the way to Maine now though. I guess this was a really poor backup plan. Whoever finds it, you have truly earned it. As for me, my emotional stock in Dodge has gone down. I need sleep. Good luck everyone. : /
Dang Adam!
Sorry you feel that way!
Hope you at least stopped to “Smell the Roses” along the way!
GO DODGE!
WTG! You really Nailed it for sure!
You peaked the interest for serious buyers for sure!
HUGS!
Hi Adam and you have every right to – you were in the same boat as everyone else, so chin up. I’m still scratching my head on this dramatic change of events … but at the very least, you can say that you were in the very thick of it. Where this winds up and how is anyone’s guess right now. All the best!
Just saw a NEW commercial again! LOL It included the new East clues this time…I am watching the History channel.
Too funny! Told ya they were shaking things up!
This makes the Enfield Shaker West Meadow Barn Even more plausible, doesn’t it? “Shaking things up” hmm…
Not sure Matt… When I posted my find about the commercial before the current hunt went live, the Journey was black. I have only seen that original commercial 2X and I think both were on the Travel Channel. This new one was Red but was without a doubt New… It showed a quick clip of a slideshow moment.
No matter what…Enjoy your Journey! Be it by car or the world wide web!
Check the west meadow barn in the shaker village in Enfield NH. It has a lower level so the 2nd floor is floor is wooden and can be driven into.
Question I thought it was a 500 mile round trip. So i dont think it would go into Maine.
Im in KY so good luck all
They did renovations to this barn so beams are very old but walls and roof are newer.
worth a look. Shaker Village Enfield NH. West Meadow Barn
So do you think it is safe to say that this was definitely not the original trip? If that is the case, I wonder if we will ever know where the original location was.
Weeelll….I just had the pleasure of driving all the way from Philly to VT and back for nothing, solving NY-area clues that meant nothing, and realizing all the fun I thought I was having while searching was sheer mindlessness because the car was never anywhere near me and wouldn’t be found by me or anyone else participating today. Shame on me for thinking this one would be run like the first two.
After an awesome West Coast search, this is two giant black eyes in a row for Dodge. Clearly they were figured out and scrambled together this ridiculous Plan B. Even the tiniest hint, something like: “This search might take a lot longer than the other ones,” would’ve helped out the planning a lot, and the money spent going up there for nothing could’ve been saved.
Oh yes, these grapes are sour my friends. Sour indeed.
My thoughts:
1. We were right about Mt Independence, and they did have a backup plan or made one up real quick (someone said earlier the 4a sign photo was taken on friday)
2. They aren’t gonna wake up at 9 am just to get this thing over with… it will probably last until the race.
3. It’s not in Maine
4. I’ve ranked my new possible locations 1. Loudon NH (it’s raceday and the dodge execs will probably be there for the chase race) 2. Boston/Plymouth area (what fits the independence theme better than this?) 3. Albany (paradox/end, beginning stuff 500 mile circle etc.) these are all pretty equal though and ive searched alot of images tonight for barns stables etc that resemble the one in the vid.
5. Dodge is totally f’d up for making people unexpectedly stay the night, however I am glad they changed it up from the others.
6. Good luck out there!
With that floor, it is probably a site for a barn dance. Hope someone has time to check these sites:
http://www.contradancelinks.com/newengland.html for Conn, Maine, Mass
http://www.ceder.net/resources/view.php4?StateId=29 for all states, look at dance halls
Good luck to all.
Good Morning from Sunny Florida. Wish all of you the best of luck.. Steve thanks for everything. Make memories and take alot of pictures. What an incredible JOURNEY!!
Good morning! Thanks for the kind words and I’ll echo your best wishes to the boots on the ground
A quick note to all subscribed: As requested by a number of our boots on the ground, I’ve created a new post for Day 2. Let’s continue the discussion here: http://stevenbarley.net/2011/09/25/dodge-journey-search-east-live-updates-day-2/

Can anyone make out what the reflection in the headlight now? It’s much more clear than it has been. I can almost make out another building – like a log cabin – and I swear it looks like 2 people standing next to a 5′ tall sign?

Hi Nicole. Sorry to hear that you were that close but it sounds like you kept everything in perspective. Now come on back to VA (it’s raining here
