Dodge Journey Search (East) LIVE updates – Day 2
I’ll be updating this page as information becomes available for the continuation of the Dodge Journey (East) search starting Sunday morning at 9am.
Be safe. Be courteous. Buckle up and drive carefully. Remember, there can only be one winner. Enjoy the adventure and make some memories. Cheers and Best of luck!
Physical Clues (in World Wide World)
Final location of the Dodge Journey (East):
16 Donut Point Ln.
Tenants Harbor, ME 04860
Final clue: Kenniston Realty in Rockland, ME
Message from phone call (paraphrased, courtesy of Spencer):
Good job, there will be no more clues. You are within 15 miles of the Journey.
Main Street Prison Showroom -> Angeliques (Antiques) Thomaston, ME
(courtesy of Tobias)
Message from phone call (paraphrased, courtesy of Spencer):
Nice work. Be careful who share this number with. 99% of the people that are hoping to find the Journey, think they can find it from their easy chair. So, don’t undo all own your hard work.
The lands you will be traveling to will have many beautiful properties where you would like to park your Journey. Look under the first rock. One will stand out. If you see it, give the owner a call.
Solution: Continue traveling north along Rte 1 to Rockland, ME and find Kenniston Realty.
Discussion: “The first (rock)” may be a reference to The First, a bank in Rockland along Rte 1, but before Kenniston Realty. This may have confirmed the direction. As this clue was paraphrased, it may have, in fact, been worded as “Look beyond the first rock.”
Red’s Eats at Wiscasset, ME -> Sign Store on Water Street for a clue in the window:

Message from phone call:
Nice work. First things first. Be careful who share this number with. 99% of the people that are hoping to find the Journey, think they can find it from their easy chair. So, don’t undo all own your hard work.
Blend in with the locals as you head north … check out some woodworking made by hard labor.
Or Better yet. We hear antiquing is huge around here, so why not do some window shopping. There’s one in particular that’s named after the owner whose name also rhymes with what she sells. In the window, you’ll find what you’re looking for.
Solution: Travel further north along RTE 1 to Thomaston, ME and Main Street Prison Showroom, then Angeliques (Antiques)

Message: Congratulations on getting this far but we can’t hold your hand for ever. This will be the last clue you’ll be able to get online. The rest will all require you get out into the real world. Head north and stop when you see the red seats. A few doors north from there, look for a sign.

On 4a now. Hoping they take this thing all the way south until it connect to 11. 4A is super long and mostly residential and private roads with no other outlet than taking it all the way to 11.
Hi Spencer and thanks for checking. BTW, did you have catch the Nancy’s Way sign. It seems to somewhat elusive. Best of luck to you!
No sign of the nancy’s way sign on 4a and we made two trips this. Morning alone. The only nancys way we could find is by way of 11 west
Hello I think it might be in Arcadia national park in Bar harbor Maine if you look at some of the clues there is a eagle lake, Saint George, light house, friendship,a loop. ferry’s up there.
Loving the blog steve. Lots of great ideas on here. Just posting to subscribe.
Thanks
Steve – Nice detective work. Do you think I’m right in thinking there are still some 265 miles of travel before the final destination? Everyone was looking for a barn in Enfield last night, but I wonder if the journey isn’t even close to over.
just woke up in white junction,vt. Son and I slept in car. No hotels available for 200 miles. I hope this isn’t a wild goose chase. Most of the trip through vt was in fog and dark. looking forward to daylight !!!
Good morning Mike! What an adventure you’ve both been on. And sleeping the car? Not ideal but you’ll remember it for sure. Best of luck and keep us posted.
thank you so much to Steve and everyone here! While we have support from home, most of the trip has been without cell service. Checking in here has helped fill in some of the gaps the home base has missed.
good morning! Steven did you get ANY sleep???
Good morning! I had a sleeping bag right next to my desk
Can’t wait to hear stories from those still in the hunt, where they camped out. But now it’s time to get ready for Day 2. Cheers!
Good morning Steven! Good idea to go to page two, or should I say page too!
Good morning! Yes, please switch to the Day 2 coverage. Cheers!
So…who are we cheering for. I see MikeK, …who else is “boots on the ground”?
I can think of at least 5 still in the hunt. Off the top of my head: AmyElizabeth, Spencer, Mike, Paul, Grimedog – Let me know if I left anyone out.
Go Team Barley! I love the idea that one of them wins and says “My name is______, and thanks to Team Barley, this is my Journey!”
Well, we decided to rejoin. It was too depressing to think our memory of the search would end with us getting home so late last night–defeated and miserable. So, count us in again, although we lost a lot of time this morning.
ok just i am getting a cup of coffee and bound to help someone win this damn thing. i have the dogde page open on utube, and FB, will post anything i see Steve.
Good luck all and drive safely
Good morning Lisa. Agree, let’s help someone win this Journey. God knows they deserved it – what a trek!! Cheers!
Morning all… my journey into alcoholism has continued into this morning, as I have woken up with a nasty hangover… Dodge drove me to this… you slideshow bastards.
Good morning all! Let’s find us a Journey today waddya say!?!
Slideshow displaying a rural road toward low mountains. This is either current footage or 1-yr+-old. The fall foliage matches up with nature.
ok anyone see the live feed there is a reflection on the top of a car with tall trees
Good AM all My Uncle is standing by in NY awaiting the return trip ???
Good morning Ken!
Wow, what a great shot of a section of road, they can stop the clues now, I’m sure that pinpoints the location. Ha
LOL Mike – You solved it
Steve,
My bro is in NH. This is day 2 for him and his wife to sleep in the car. No hotel rooms due to NASCAR or something like that. Just got off the phone with him and he sounds beat. Hopefully dodge will give is better clues today. I am his at home help. Any help from you will be appreciated.
Thanks for the checking in … this group here will continue to help out as best we can. Cheers!
Thanks steve, we are from Houston, TX. My bro is a little crazy. He went for the OK one and was half a mile away from the location, so I guess he caught the bug.
Hey just checking in to say that my wife and I are in NH. Drove from long island, ny last night into this morning. Thanks steve for all your help! Lisa, thanks for wanting to help us win as well!
Hi Jonathan. Got the bug, eh? Best of luck and keep us posted.
Round trip = 49.2%
Atlantic Ocean = 49.1%
Other = 1.7%
Game on.
What if, after going through all their slides, they say the car is located at one of the sites shown during the slide show.
Hi Bob. I guess we can’t rule anything out. I also hoping they give us a better slide or it will switch to a … you have to be there to match up the road, terrain, etc as the guide to the finish. Note: they have not showed us any real landmarks yet, i.e. a road sign or building. Cheers!
Had been on this race. However Dodge has turned this into a horrible game doing an awful job, showing really poor photos of places the journey has not been too. In sunapee, and actually going enjoy my day instead of waste it.
Hi Pam. Well at least you can say you were there and gave it a run. Sure do wish events and conditions unfolded differently. All the best!

Today’s the day!
Here’s my theory…… Last Clue was “This isn’t the End, it’s only the beginning”
They’re on their way to Hope Valley Rhode Island!! First one was found in Hope Valley Calif. this one’s in Hope Valley RI Anyone????
That would have been so much more fitting than the actual location. If there had been a clue referring to ” from sea to shining sea”, it might have made some sense. I wish they would have done alot more educational/historical places instead of street signs. the first two ended up in national parks so I think they could have done a much better job.
Hominy Pot
In the vicinity of this marker, during the last quarter of the 18th century, were built the first homes and the original schoolhouse of New London. Along this brook, developed by several men at different times, were a saw mill, a grist mill, a carding and cloth-dressing mill, a hat factory, and a shingle mill. — all powered by falling water. This industrial area has been variously called “Minot’s Square,” Harvey’s Mills,” “Trussell’s Mills,” and most lastingly, “Hominy Pot.”
THIS MARKER ERECTED BY THE TOWN OF NEW LONDON AUGUST 1974

LOL, they are following my frustrated route home last night! I remember passing that 89-ends sign around 11:30 PM.
LOL indeed Jen – You were heading the right way
On its south end, I-89 connects to I-91 near Concord, NH– Good Morning Patty
@ intersect of Interstates 89 and 93
Next slide is up! By the next sign south on 89: Yellow sign reads “89 Ends 3/4 mile”
Its gonna “End at the Beginning” I’d be heading for Hope Valley RI!
I like the way that sounds. Let’s “hope” they were that thoughtful and clever

Battles of Lexington and Concord were the first military engagements of the American Revolutionary War (where it begins)
Almost looks like they’re off to the races
Looks like they’re headed north to the White Mountain National Forest area.
Ack I was wrong. They showed route 106 and Pembroke
Next clue should determine if north or south on 106.
it appears to be a 1939 ford turtle back with a split window best guess

Had to sign in, this is great! follow the Plymouth to Plymouth?
4 / 202 / 9 sign.
I know this is a stupid question due to the way this hunt has been going but how many are thinking Albany. and if so i am going to start searching horse stables in the state parks in the Albany area
Ken–thats what we were thinking……we can never compete with the locals in order to get to nh. Anyone invested in the game to date is in the ny/vt area and nh is 3-4 hrs drive.
ice cream cone sign open
That is for Newicks Lobster House.
Johnson’s Dairy Bar
Wow Tony. You are good.
Just got back from Maine on Friday, have been going by that for many years.

east on 4 outside north wood – morning
they are either going to jog south on 152 or keep on 4 heading NE
Only way to go on 152 is south.
Or, continuing east on 4.
typo on hwy 4 it runs south east
Slide shows green “Junction 52″ sign. If they are still on route 9 then they are at village of Northwood.
Exactly, Lisa. Slide showing Jct 152 sign. May stay on 4 or right on 152. Stand by
Ack…
“Junction 152″ village of Northwood
stay on 4 lee five corners
Do you think they are staying in Northwood?
On Antique Alley means Route 4
Antique Alley. Dodge had a tweet yesterday about this search being right up someone’s alley. I knew they were connected.
Now maybe some connection to the beef jerky
“Welcome to Northwood” sign, with “antique alley” below
I’ll bet they going to the coast then south
check FB album, theyre already in portsmouth
Indeed – Looks like they have all the pics in FB, here: http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10150392272694224.409208.7346304223
One sign: Sea Shore Trolley Museum – Kennebunkport, Maine
And the two last pictures – call (one with a close up)
Cape cod is a national seashore, would be fitting considering the first was a national park, second national grassland.
Grassland – was he sewing grass seed?
Another great idea, I wonder how far from cape cod it really was.
He’s throwing around some kind of Seed or Feed in the live feed now
Journey dude is scattering something on the floor. Grass seed? Chicken feed? Cracked corn for ducks? Sawdust?? Good grief!
Chickens in the barn – he was feeding the chickens.
What is dude feeding? The mice?
chicken feed b/c chicken are eating it
live chicken in barn
can you see the chickens behind the car
OMG they are going to Maine….. look here

Chickens! See em now!

How about Suggarmamma’s Maple Farm House in Northwood?
the live feed just had the Journey’s babysitter feed chickens. actual chickens are walking around the “barn”
one of those photos is in Kenebuckport Maine….. the Trolly museum….
They’re heading to Acadia!!!
I do believe those are Rhode Island Red chickens!
They need a better chicken wrangler, though.
I say ignore the slideshow now….. and look for that last photo in their album……
Actually look at the last couple – trying to find Barnard’s Tavern – Johnson … found the Seashore Trolley Museum.
is it Johnson or Townson
The last Facebook album pics say “CALL”. Trolley museum is Kennebunkport, ME

Could it have been salt he put down? Don’t actually see the chickens eating what he put down…Salt used as a Ward. Salt has been long considered anathema to evil and demons. In folklore, salt provides protection against witches, witchcraft, demons, and the evil eye. Could they be headed to Salem MA?
solar panels….vented chicken house roof?
Exactly Jenni. All the photos are up on their FB page. Head to Maine!
I’ve been by there…..It is a bunch of tires holding down some plastic.
Picture they just put up is the salt/sand hills they use in snow/ice storms…

This is turning out to be my “Lost Weekend”
LOL Donna!
barnards tavern, then a building saying “call” was the last i saw before it went down
what the mileage from beginnning to portland maine?
They just removed the whole album from facebook! Realized they posted too soon. Everyone head toward Portland, ME! That was the last photo.
I think they may have blocked their FB photo feed!
Rockland, ME has a Journey’s End Marina
They caught wind of the FB connection and took it down. Last Image was a huge lit sign that read “CALL” on top of a building just after the image of “Barnards Tavern” sign
i still have the photos up.
Yes, last picture is the Time and Tempurature Building, 477 Congress Street portland me DRIVE!
I posted Acadia yesterday around 5pm yesterday on my FB page. Acadia National Park, Maine. Wildwood Stables? National Park, Sailing (Coast), Horses, etc.
Agreed. That’s what I’m guessing too!
Final two shots (as John pointed out) are from Portland, Maine.
http://www.flickr.com/photos/38117207@N03/5230080270/
about 375 miles
the last 2 pictures show the work “call” one of the building and the final one is a close up of the word Call.
Remember — 500 miles on a tank of gas puts you in Bar Harbor, Maine.
Acadia National Park.
You can skip the scenic route by jumping on I-95 to Portland, ME (but then what?)
They are headed to Portland – that CALL sign on the top of the one building is in Portland.
kennebunkport Maine
LOL … They just yanked the advanced pictures off Facebook – too late now!
It’s the exact same ones from the barn, so maybe they just didn’t like people immediately posting FB comments identifying the spots. Maybe they’ll put it up again after they change the permissions for the album. Guess regular people aren’t the only ones annoyed by FB’s infamous privacy settings, haha.
Perhaps so … but a lot of times, I’ll start to upload pictures but don’t want to publish until I have the order, captions, etc set … however, in the last couple of revisions, it’s hard to know (and control)
I was one of the many people who went out on this search yesterday thinking it would actually be somewhere near the final clue, in the Schroon Lake/Paradox area. drove about 5 hours from NYC in the afternoon after the final 375 mile clue was given out. by the time I got to around the area, night had already fallen. unfortunately, on top of that, I forgot my laptop charger and my laptop was dying, so had to find a 24 hour Walmart and hopefully find a charger that worked for my laptop. unfortunately the one I found didn’t carry one. I had been tethering my phone to my laptop to keep on top of the latest information from the Youtube page and this blog.
long story short, as soon as we saw that this was going into New Hampshire, while I was busy getting lost in Ticonderoga around 9-10pm, I pretty much gave up. made that long trek back to NYC and got home in the middle of the night. I have to say though, it was a fun ‘journey’ either way, this is something I won’t be forgetting for a while. to think that I had a chance of finding this once I got to the general area was pretty exciting.
Hi Kevin – I applaud your exceptional spirit and sense of adventure. You did what many of us could not, regardless of the outcome … and sounds like you made some memories. Def agree with you on the execution. On one hand, they are finally getting whoever is left into the World Wide World (unlike the last two) … but we only had history as guide. It would have been nice to know what was before you. All the best!
OMFG….. Dodge just Removed the Album
Someone at Dodge must have screwed up by posting them……
I suspect that they have someone working their social sites and in touch with the execution/production crew … and simply jumped the gun. It’s a tricky thing with FB albums – loading all the pics but not publishing … and I know they wanted individuals to drive the drive …
http://www.logsmokehouse.net
22 more pictures to go…
Facebook =
Faux Pas #2
or is it 3?
Losing count.
At least #3 David
And at least you’re just losing count … not your mind.
portland puts you are 340 miles
Consider this though. They showed two signs of the CALL sign (as if they wanted you to call)?
my last clue plugged into google maps sent me to Rockland, Tilson, ME – don’t recall whether it from a FB pic? (armchair, here)
Its to throw you off. Its no mistake.
You think Shawn. They had every other picture so far. I think it was just a logistical issue. I guess time will soon tell
Red Barn at Rockland Harbor?
http://t1.ftcdn.net/jpg/00/31/26/64/400_F_31266419_dbzjQHqlU2M4WUgNpI0CMFVTarggLkvp.jpg
that would be a dirty trick, they really are portraying it as a landlocked barn.
just past dairy barn
Call Joe Bornstein

Gouldsboro Maine, possibly Mandala Farm. The road from the first clue with the rocks on the side is in their photo album.
Yes, pics of horseback riding in Acadia Nat’l Park!
there’s a call’s hill road, dresden, ME – def takes you toward Rockland, ME (Tilson Ave).
scrap that as a destination if you are avoiding the scenic route
The green sign #6 to the last was the old time trolley museum in Kennebunkport
Where will this end?
Steven, just entering portsmouth now. Any advice?
In case you haven’t followed the recent chatter, they inadvertently posted the entire set of pics on FB (and then removed after we started to post links, discuss) – there were a number of markers for Kennebunkport, so at least head that way (last two signs were from Portland, ME)
Given the shots continue to match up, I would be heading to Portland, ME, if you haven’t already. Best of luck!
That call sign is on the Time and Temperature building in Portland Me. It is for winter parking regulations. You are supposed to call and find out if you are allowed to park on the street. The phone # is (207) 879-0300. I called and pressed 2 for winter parking, but no clues. There may be more info in the menus, I don’t have the minutes to find out.
In order for this to be an “epic” journey, I think they are going to finish with a view of the ocean. Start looking for a barn in Bar Harbor Maine area with the Atlantic as a backdrop.
Repeat from yesterday:
“Ocian in view! O! the (reverse) joy,” he wrote in his journal.
http://www.nationalgeographic.com/lewisandclark/journey_leg_13.html
i should be doing this hunt on the road instead of stuck at home…..It is a Wild Goose Chase and after all my maiden name is Goossens
i posted last night that there is a barn tour, one of the famous one is the stone barn it is in desert island ME and is around 500 miles
Look at the 500 mile clue there is a road with rocks on the side. Mandala Farm in Gouldsboro Maine has a picture of that road as their last pic. in their photo album.
The caption says Acadia Nat’l Park, which is just across the water from the Mandala Farm.
The rocks alongside the road in the last Mandala Farm photo is not the same roadway as in the 500 mile clue. Road not wide enough. No yellow line down the middle. Lots of roads have big glacial erratics alongside the pavement.
That is the placard on the Memorial Bridge.

Is this the one you are referring to, Lisa?

“Port Call” is the walker’s guide for Bar Harbor

kittery me puts you at 391 miles

It is in the white mountains it’s a three hour drive for me I have a half tank of gas, a pack of smokes and my sunglasses on. HIT IT!
Thar be chicken’s in that barn
Maybe it’s not a prop.
How about
http://www.bigchickenbarn.com/
Getting pretty close to Acadia!
Did we figured anything out with the chickens??
They’re are chickens roaming around on the live vid. For what it’s worth.
Yeah Todd. I caught that too. Either a more elaborate prop or the real deal!
The chickens are played as some kind of clue or nuance to the barn clue, because the car sitter purposefully spread feedcorn and around the car.
There must be a lot of you in/around Portsmouth. The traffic view on maps shows everything around there in yellow or red!
I recongize one of the chickens! LOL
that sub is in fort foster albacore park

barn restoration project hmmmmmmmmmm
West search: Past Lake TAHOE
Midwest search: past YUKON, Ok
EAST: wanna bet on ACADIA national park?
Hi Rick. At this point, everything belongs on the table … LOL. Cheers!
For everyone who might have missed it, Dodge put over 2 dozen images up (same ones now being played out on the live feed) and the last of them places you in …….
Downtown Portland, Maine.
Skip everything else and get there.
I still have the FB pics up that they posted prematurely. There are 44 pics, about the same as day 1. Last 2 pics are the Time and Temperature building in Portland ME. Steve has a good point: Why 2 pics, and why the middle of the biggest city in ME where there are no barns? Maybe they have a “staged” barn set up in a parking lot nearby? Acadia does sound like a good guess, but a long drive!
i should have done the east coast search instead of the midwest
OK i think i GIVE…… staring at the computer for two days gots a headache….
14 more photos
Did anyone ever find out what the beef jerky meant?
One other possibility …
Lubec, Maine. The northeastern-most corner of the continental U.S..
Even more epic than Bar Harbor.
Acadia national park is 3 hours north of portland, we def know portland…you really think it would be 3 hours more? its already sunday
Just a thought related to the FB pics. Although I’m puzzled why they would have taken two shots of the same landmark (CALL sign), they album could have just published prematurely, e.g. instead of loading a few more pictures, they pushed the wrong button. Hard to believe that Portland (inside a large city) would be the stopping point, while we hold for additional clues.
Alright…I can’t win it anyways…got to go do some real stuff. This “follow” the pictures thing sucks. No challenge to those on the ground, just be first. Bleh. Good thing I’m in florida. Beautiful day outside.
anyone ever figure out the Barnards Tavern with the name Tomlinson at the bottom
I got a hit in Kennebunkport, ME.
They obviously care not about those who have to make a return trip to NY or VT or anywhere else.
They have their own agenda now, and it is to approximate the 500 mile mark or reach the furthest point possible w/o crossing into Canadian territory.
Those who drop off this Trail of Tears are of no consequence to Dodge. They are after the larger internet audience (i.e., us) who outnumber the boots many fold.
This may well backfire on them, however.
I agree with you David. If on one hand, everyone knew well in advance that they would actually be traveling along a route, discovering it as it unfolds (vs figuring out clues and getting close to a final destination), then you could choose and plan accordingly. I do like the notion of really exploring the World Wide World (execution hasn’t be perfect though) and they are getting more mileage out of this one (it IS a marketing campaign) … but they are also missing the practical aspects for the boots on the ground. If this concludes around, let’s say 4 or 5pm tonight, it’s a long journey back (no pun intended).
I think Dodge wants their “its stil there” commercials during football today to be accurate this week. Hence, the long, drawn out aspect of this search.
they show all the commercials on Sunday football and each week they say we left it right here…maybe it is 3 more hours away as this get’s them into the football time slot.
Just a thought, mt desert in acadia is also where one of the hunts posted on twelve.org, accessible through steven’s site, is located, there is a $10,000 key somewhere on the mountain, not sure which hunt/book though.
Belfast, ME was once the chicken capital of the east coast. Just thinking out loud.
truck in York Maine?
Did Andy Dufresne nabbed that car on his way out of Shawshank?
Drove it all the way to Zihuatanejo?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zihuatanejo
Trying to ease my own boredom and inject some levity until we get to Portland on the Magical “Mystery” Tour Slideshow.
rt 1 in york, ME that car
Not a Dodge… another diversion?
Shawshank Prison car
http://mainestayinn.com/2010/05/a-day-trip-to-nubble-lighthouse/
They are at Kennebunkport.
live feed photo shawshank prison ‘car’, Thomaston, ME is one of several
Just putting it out there……Acadia Nation Park has the “Wildwood Stables” which are some new white shinny barns which can be rented year round to those with animals. Its north…a national park….and a perfect spot to hide a new journey
North on RT 1 at York???
T-Minus 9 slides.
I believe the Shawshank car is in York Main…see http://www.flickr.com/photos/53624026@N06/4956134224/
Good time for a bathroom break and a bagel.
Some of these pics are taking us much farther than portland…… up to York Maine so far…… so i guess they put them out of Order in that FB album……
Isn’t York ME south of Kennebunkport?
Which is south of Portland, ME?
Have we already seen the (two) CALL signs? Since the Shawshank Prison car is in York, ME?
Shawshank Prison car is in York ME at the Woods to Goods store on Rt 1
Trolley Museum is in Kennebunkport
I hate seeing people say oh I know where it is but I’m 90 % sure I do. Unfortunately, I’m in Central, NY and too far to drive up there now.
My biggest fear is that all the “work” we did yesterday was absolutely for nothing and Dodge played out the NY/VT scenario just to appease people who came to the area. They gave them their search and used a slide show to bridge to a totally new game (new day, new clues) beginning with a 200 or 300 mile clue noonish beginning in ME. I hope I’m wrong.
but you’re probably right
This new game does address some of the criticism from the last two … so much online detective work for the search engine of the real world, no exploring the world wide world, just a radius of about 20 miles from a predicted end point. For those that saddled up, and went with the change up, I have to take my hat off.
Why the chicken cross the road? to get run over by a dodge journey.
In the 450 and 425 mile clues you can see part of the barns trusses? reflected in the paint and windshield. I think it is an actual barn and not a set on a stage.
in maine
what if the earlier west eagle lake misdirection was simply a nod to the eagle lake that is in Acadia Nat. Park….?
Are we there yet?
Hi Vicki. And no
i think that maybe YORK is as far as the photo clues are gonna take us today….. so for the Boots on the Ground….. there is a Barn SOMEWHERE north of there with a Journey in it…… Good luck till tomorrow
Dodge is definitely punishing us for figuring out their East plan a week ahead of time and ruining all of the Ticonderoga commercials they were going to show. Plan B sux
haha (bitter laugh) – no doubt
To the folks who said Dodge punished us for figuring out the plan ahead of time…
Yup – exactly! They punished us but good.
I wasted an entire day and a couple tanks of gas driving all over the NY/VT ferry area… where the journey WOULD have been if the armchair sleuths didn’t figure out the final destination 5 days before the contest ended.
It was fun riding around wasting gas and trying to get a wifi signal strong enough to open these mile long websites and hidef videos… but… I am a little PO’ed that they moved the journey all the way to freakin eastern Maine!
I dunno if I should be thanking steve for keeping up with the journeys journey or mad at him for being a big part of the reason it ended up in far Eastern Maine instead of NY.
Here’s my pics from my limited search in VT/NY.
http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v517/esop/Dodge%20Journey%20EAST%20Search/
If the last picture is in Portland, why did they show the submarine (U.S.S Albacore) at the Maine Maritime Museum in Bath.
Remember “Nancy’s Way”! We’re a long way off from that!
It’s NOT at Bar Harbor…NOT at Arcadia….but I know where…let’s just say somewhere in between Bangor and Portland….just think logicially and you’ll figure it out
whats special about bangor?
look at all the old cars they have shown…. there is an antique car thing up the coast of Maine. that one car is park outside a museum here is a web page with a list of the museums.. i think this is an important clue, they also happen to be heading toward acadia and there is a museum right smack near there called Sea Cove
http://www.nytimes.com/2008/02/20/automobiles/collectibles/20-museums-northeast.html
We are ahead of the clues now. Beading towards portland? Do you think well overshoot it if we go to portland/
They are starting to add the pics back on FB (slowly) …
man do i love ezpass
Amen! MikeK. EZpass is important going through CT,NH,MA,CT
bangor is 469 miles
I just found out my wife knows someone that lives where it is so I am biting my tongue now
Kinda cruel…its just a race now- mind as well tell…or at least give clues- whats special about bangor
opps 489
The drove it 500 miles and when it ran out of gas, they left it there, literally. If you find it you can have it.
…And we left it, right there…and if you find it, you can have it…if you bring a gas can.

They are up to the moose sign pic. Next is another sign (I can read it), then the two pics of the Time and Temp Building in Portland. I wonder what clues we’ll get after that.
That’s the BIG question Barry. Did they publish the album prematurely (and we have more slides) or do we get to Portland, ME and then ???
maybe it’s in China Maine…afterall isn’t that where most American cars are made.
just got in from the real world so are you all saying that they are headed to MAine??? Someplace???
Indeed they are Mike …
As I said b4. Its no mistake.
Why do they insist on torture?????
http://www.bigchickenbarn.com/
between bucksport and ellsworth maine
THANK YOU VERY MUCH
Plymouth, ME? It’s also near Detroit, ME…a street near Moosehead Trail…i’m just grasping now. lol
I just figured that out too.
Not in China Maine but you are closer
Ok Mike spit it out…
US RT 1 494 miles go there and look people
I keep asking my wife if I should tell you guys where it is haha
Mrs Mike don’t keep us in suspense!!!!!
Get it on record Mike. You don’t want to be one of those “I knew where it was all along”
… shoot me an email if you’d like: puzzles2crack@yahoo.com I’ve received a number. Cheers!
Check this out:
http://oharacorporation.com/marina.htm
Someone just shared this barn pic: https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-RJZ1fSwPwG4/Tn8_p0uI-jI/AAAAAAAAFvM/QgShBGwlj6k/h301/barn.jpg
Not the same barn. Live feed has at least 3 horizontal slats.
So, pic’s roof is not high enough.
Did they say where that barn is?
Where is that Barn…..????
Get ready for new video clues at 12:00. Round 2. First clue will tell the tale.
okay so in front of the slide show they just placed a piece of wood? Maybe to signify a marina or something similiar? Or a forest? Any ideas?
The dude just put a log in front of the screen and the “call” slide is still up
Very funny, barn guy: you’ve dodged us everywhere and now you’ve “stumped” us…
You typed it quicker than I did. I tried.
mike and i close, i am in illinois so it don’t matter but if i help someone find this one they better help me if they drop it back in the midwest
And now, the Dodge guy just told us we went from “needles in a haystack” to “stumped”.
I was afraid we were going to get another timer!!! AGH!!
Portland, Maine: “Call Joe”
Downtown Portland, Maine: the sign on top of this building kept saying “Call Joe.” I’m right here!
I think the live feed is preparing to project a phone number.
I don’t think they can do that Jane … because there are so many traveling (it wouldn’t be fair to someone say, right there) We’ll see. If they throw that clock up, I’m going to scream
Call if your “stumped”??? Number please….
, 1-800-CALL-JOE, our new advertising takes us high above downtown Portland atop the Time and Temperature Building
@KaaDeg: The building, being one of Portland’s tallest, can be seen for many miles around. Many Portlanders depend on the Time and Temperature sign, as it has become a popular landmark on the skyline. Over the years, different sponsors have had messages flashing from the sign, including Portland Savings Bank, WMTW-TV, and most recently, The Law Offices of Joe Bornstein (with the message “CALL” “JOE”). Also, when there is a snowstorm, the words “PARK” and “BAN” flash to remind people not to park on the street during snow removal.
Now what if they’re running a message just for the travelers … CALL ??? or other clue?
That is the same stump they used before (last night to place the clock on) … they had better not switch to a clock and that chalk board :/
Im with you Steven….I will scream!!!

check out the map…you take Detroit Ave. to get there. Can someone find out what it looks like?
listen ladies and gentlement….it is in Rockland, ME….zoom in on google and look around…you’ll see what I’m talking about. I’m too far or else I’d walk in and say My Name is Mike and this is my Dodge Journey
Ironic or not it could be in Dexter, ME just saying
Somebody CALL already!
ha
Any leanings at this time oh great prognosticator?
I am in the mood for a nooner.
Clue, that is.
I say look in Plymouth Maine….The beginning is the end!
call joe is a law firm that is currently close
What if they have a physical clue or message on the Time and Temperature building for the boots on the ground? That would be pretty cool …
maybe we should call dodge because we are all stumped on not knowing the location….
207 CAL LJOE = 207 225 5563
Seriously what a tease all this is. I think they did change it. Drove to ME and took all these weak a$$ pictures. Then they showed them to us over many hours claiming they were clues.
my live feed is stuck on that damn call sign…. i keep refreshing but nothing what is in the live feed now
Searching for web cams in Portland ME that might be pointed at the building …
Journey’s End Marina!!!!!!!!!!!!
With a barn? Maybe … can’t rule anything out.
I see it in Rockland!! I hope someone checks it out!
It sounds good, but with birds chirping and chickens and no other noises in the background on the live feed I doubt it is at a marina. It is isolated somewhere.
previously I noted there is a marina called “journey’s end” in rockport, me.. just saying…
oops think I meant rockland
Just ready for those hens to lay an egg…
http://oharacorporation.com/marina.htm Read their logo!
Oh my!! someone chekc the Jorney’s End Marina out in Rockland!! The end is just the beginning…………….
Wow….i wish i was up there…..that logo seems wayyy to convenient. The chickens throw us off….but could be a boat house?
tried calling dodge but no additional info.
It might explain the loud background noise…wind and surf.
Too bad I live in Syracuse, NY
lol: http://names.whitepages.com/dusty/stump
To any of the boots on the ground – If you’re in close proximity to the Portland, ME Time and Temperature building – let us know if you see anything worthwhile to report. If you want to keep it confidential, email to: puzzles2crack@yahoo.com
http://oharacorporation.com/marina.htm Read their logo! It’s probably not a barn. They just threw in a few chickens to throw people off. And, everyone said it was too clean. Think of the captains hat.
Good point on the Captain’s hat …
Steve, I took the long night hall to Acadia State Park to be here at 8 am……. not so sure that was the best idea at this point….I did in fact see exactly where the bikes were take off the roof….it was here and also if you look at the large stones along the side of the road from the 500 mile clue those are here too….Oh Man I hope there is more I am not putting together….I give this 2 more hours tops and then I have to get home for work tomorrow….Dodge has a nice e-mail coming from me…
Hi Paul. You headed up to Acadia State Park? Have you been following the slide show clues? Portland, ME with a number to call …
Yes I called the number… It says “Congratulation on getting this far. This will be the last clue online that you will get. We can’t hold your hand forever. Go North until you see a Red Jeep the go a few doors north and you will see a sign..”
there is logging places near ellsworth maine
I really think the Marina is just too POPULATED someone would have seen it…….
From Street View, a building there that has sliding doors like we’ve been hearing. Doors are open, but can’t see inside – too dark.
Don’t see windows that match up, though.
My money is on Albany, Maine, south of Bethel. Fits the paradox and beginning/end clues, the distance is about right, and hay is a crop in that area. (The guy in the live feed yesterday was spreading hay like it was a clue.) There are tons of old barns of that type in the area.
Rockland ME has a FB page about backyard chickens…
Captains Hat, A trip to Journey’s End is just the beginning, The Marina Post in front of the screen. It’s too perfect. Must be the Marina!
Captain’s hat….captain’s “log”
I knew it was at that marina 5 hours ago….too bad if I started driving then I’d only be slightly more than halfway there from where I live
wood in pic = wood pilings (as in at the marina)?. I’m still thinking it’s further north, (Acadia), but what do I know?
coulda woulda shoulda MIKE
Having fun controlling this cam: http://www.streetsofportland.com/mscam.php
Here is a list of some in the area… havent found the building or the car in any of them yet
http://www.wxnation.com/portlandme/webcams/
CALLED NUMBER SAID HEAD NORTH TILL YOU SEE THE RED SEATS A FEW DOORS DOWN FIND THE SIGN
yep, that’s what I heard too!! go get it boots on the ground!!
Is the area code for Main 207?
a number on the live feed!
“congratulations on making it this far, head north until the red (?), a few miles after look for the sign”
207 420-8706
207 is area code for that number It is the maine area code
mUST BE ON THE GROUND AND THE PHONE CALL WAS THE LAST HINT PERIOD
Okay – 207-420-8706.
I called and got through.
Said last clue – have to go to real world.
Said to head north – look for a red something.
Two doors down and look for a sign.
I tried to call back and figure out what he said about red st______ – but now number is busy.
Will keep trying to call.
GO GO GO GO GO GO
Head north and look for something RED!!!!!
seats
last clue,
i think it could seriously be back in ny.
the journey was travelling 87 south in the commercials, the guy was wearing a i love ny shirt. maine nh vt all the journey but now they are back from it and parked it in a barn near a lake. maybe a farm near great saratoga lake or on of the ones already mentioned??
same thing but will add that they said “they can’t hold your hand” for you, please…
no more online clues
clue drive north and stop when see the red ??? a few doors north from there look for a sign Last clue Can’t “hold your hand forever”
Stock up on jerky. Jerky was a staple on ocean voyages. Is it on a ship or barge of some sort?
It said:
Head north, and stop when you see a red Jeep (I think).
A few doors north from there, look for a sign.
This will be the last online clue.
head north till you see a RED steep. couple doors down you’ll see a SIGN !!!!!!
head north from portland?
i CALLED AGAIN … HEAD NORTH STOP WHEN YOU SEE THE RED SEATS HEAD NORTH A FEW DOORS DOWN TOO THE RED SIGN
head north on 295?
207-420-8706 red seats
I think it says stop when you see the red “seeds” Hard to understand that word but I have listened about 5 times and thats what I am getting.
red ‘feet’??
Congratulations at getting this far. but we cant hold your hand forever. This will be the last clue you will be able to get on line. The rest will all require you to get out into the real world. Head north and stop when you see the red seats, a few doors north of there look for a sign
Call the number and get a recording saying this is the last clue you’ll get online and some other stuff I can’t remember. lol
Hadlock Field – Portland Sea Dogs
red seats
Why is he using so much duck tape???
LOL – Once again, Dodge, nice homework…. 800-420-8706 is an ad for a sex line.
LOL CZ … jeez, you’d think they would add the zip … and probably will soon … they have been monitoring (to their credit).
Try the Maine Area code 207-420-8706.
hadlock field is not north of the time and temp building
What if it said Red Eat’s?!? There is one in Wiscasset, ME!!
It follows highway 1…..ends at water…..
but a few door north of red’s eats puts you in the river!
oops!!
I feel stranded.
Where are you at David?
Anyone in Portland that figures this out and needs someone in Acadia….e-mail pr4779@gmail.com
Has anyone checked out the Journey’s End Marine yet?
It’s what gaffers gaff with, Nan.
California.
Just emotionally stranded, Steven, now that they have cut us onliners off.
Does anyone have a link to a Facebook page that might provide pics?
~ D
Here you go: http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10150392371379224.409240.7346304223
And yeah. Not much for us to do except try and figure out where they need to go … a bit cryptic.
How about Red’s Eats in Wicasset, ME ?
Could be deedubyah….. its right off of the hwy 1 its quite possible
What about Peaks Island, ME? It is near the CALL sign town of Portland, ME
I’m getting red STEEP.
Wiccasset makes sense On My way! GPS says 3 hours….UGH!
I distinctly heard the word red
not Red’s.
Though it does move you closer to the coastline.
David, You are correct is does say Red which takes me back to Red seats…..
The barn door is open
but im thinking if the barn door was open and near the coast….the wind would blow around the hay.
is that sound of a chicken…or a seabird??
Doesn’t that sound like a seal in the live feed?
someone please check this out Big Chicken barn off 1 and 3 and in a dead end place
it is so close
http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&rlz=1C1CHNV_enUS365&biw=1440&bih=785&um=1&ie=UTF-8&q=big+chicken+barn+maine&fb=1&gl=us&hq=big+chicken+barn&hnear=0x4cb01dde1d538ad5:0xd679cc6f6720a8d0,Maine&cid=0,0,15106512208711868852&ei=QlV_TvSkIOHi0QHcteQb&sa=X&oi=local_result&ct=image&ved=0CAQQ_BI
I live in Maine, and my money would be on Red’s Eats. The recording said “Stop when you see the red seats”–same string of letters just split differently.
But then it says, a few doors down …
Actually, it says “A few doors *north* from there…” and north on a street map would bring you a few doors up on Water St (Red’s is on the corner of Water and Main)…?
Final Clue: Call 207-420-8706
Message: Congratulations on getting this far but we can’t hold your hand for ever. This will be the last clue you’ll be able to get online. The rest will all require that you get out into the real world. Head north and stop when you see the [red seats?]. A few doors north from there, look for a sign.
Steve-O – whats your email? i’ll email you the phone message – i recorded it
the part where he says “Red..??Seats??” is just not clear
Hey Ben: puzzles2crack@yahoo.com (and thanks!)
Drove out to nh from PA finny got a signal and realized you guys were already in maine. Sighhhhh… I give up
Your not that far off Megan…. keep going don’t give up
Hi Megan. Yeah, that’s been one of the problems … a real world adventure that requires connectivity to the online world
Cheers!
I have friends that live in Bangor….. wish i was there right now…. sent them a FB message to look at those photos and see if they can figure out anything
Reds Eats 41 Main St Wiscasset ME
Read Eats is also on the corner of water street and the message if from Michael c hall…Like the sign from earlier too. A few doors down is the Wiscasset Old General Store…..BTW on the comments below There is a Seal harbor in Acadia too? Coincidence?
Authentic Timberframes, 108 Raspberry Lane, Bridgton, ME,
What about this?
Was that a seal I heard? North of Seal Harbor in Acadia = Wildwood Stables….
have not seen any air flow jiggle the projection screen…
What mileage are they at?
ok someone needs to put this together seal harbor is near the seal cove antique auto museum which is near the big chicken barn, even if it did say red eat’s which is in wiscasset ME they are all in proximity of each other. don’t forget TEXACOLA but there is something about the chickens in the barn
I don’t see where the barn door is open.
Looks closed to me in the reflection off the car (just above the left front tire and on front bumper).
The shiny lights above the left front tire and elsewhere are probably from the crew’s lighting set-up itself.
Well, my 6-yr-old is begging me to get back out there. We’re 2-hrs from Portland. I won’t have an adult navigator with me… What do you all think? Steven, do you think it’s pointless, or should we take a chance?
get out and go for it
Hi Jen. That’s really a personal decision. I’m still trying to piece on what road you would have been on, going through Portland, ME from Kennebunkport … that you would then need to continue with phone message clue??
Right now, you’d be heading up to Portland, without knowing where to go next
Now i feel like jumping on a plane and renting a car…… but knowing my luck it will be found just as my plane lands
I do, however, see what appear to be three windows reflected in the front bumper (just below the left headlamp) with shadows of people occasionally crossing.
First, do we know exactly what road or route they were on that would take them by the markers in Kennebunkport and to Portland, with a view that matches the first call sign (the second is the same angle – just zoomed in)
if they stopped in rockland to bucksport to ellsworth they are at about 490 miles
What was the mileage of where they stopped last for sure?
If you’re on the ground, I’d be looking for extension cords across yards and at least 2 crew members: white T shirt and cowboy in black T.
red picnic tables “red seats” right as you cross bridge into wiscassek
go…..Go….. GO William & Stacy
Red’s Eats is a restaurant in Wiscasset on Route 1, on the corner of Main and Water streets.
Not so much a restaurant as a snack bar actually.
Why are comments getting all out of order again……???? Steven have you noticed this???
the chicken barn, antique cars are a clue that area have logging, antique car museums and a chicken barn…lol
Ok, here is my last guess… I keep missing clues, but I went north on 1 with google street from portland maine, there was on odd red sign that I couldn’t read, but shortly from there is this location??? It doesn’t fit the aquatic clues, but I wanted one guess in print.. Good luck for all who kept looking, wish it was around Lake george, when I had a fighting chance.
From the owner
Gilsland Farm Audubon Center and Nature Store
20 Gilsland Farm Road, Falmouth, ME 04105-2100
(207) 781-2330
Somebody, perhaps a male with a green shirt, walked in front of the camera on the set. There might be someone there. (or crew)
I think they came up the 95 and took the 295 into downtown Portland, Steven.
So, 295 north again I would say.
Have not confirmed this.
sounds like someone just got there. Did you hear the engine?
Red Jeep perhaps?
these places are all around acadia natl
http://ouracadia.wordpress.com/2011/07/25/include-mount-desert%E2%80%99s-celebrity-barns-among-%E2%80%9Cmust-see%E2%80%9D-sites-near-acadia-national-park/
red SEAT!
dying to know what the sign will say, anyone scared it will tell you to basically head home??
Red’s Eats….he’s eating….
I have a feeling someone will find it soon! Maybe before 1 p.m.
he is eating on a red chair….red eats sounds good….still think it could be Journey’s end marina in rockland…slogan “the end is just the beginning”
Lobster rolls!
Must be a lobsta’ roll… yum!
is he getting ready to eat a lobster roll
Can someone find the address for the phone number?
41 Water St., Wiscasset, ME – (207) 882-6128
The number posted in the live feed…
lobster roll?
Lobster po boy?
Red’s Eats! He got his lunch there! A couple of doors north is a Sign Shop!
he brought in a red chair
Reds Eats Lobster Rolls…..mmm mmm Good!
omg its red’s eats and Red seat
anyone else think dodge dude has alittle OCD? between setting up everything for the overnight last night and taking apart his lunch…. just saying hahaha
Not OCD, per se, just conscious that a qazillion viewers are scrutinizing his every move. Would you want to eat in front of that camera? Not me. He does seem a little nervous about the chickens though. Being from LA, he might not know that chickens don’t attack you when you eat lobster.
Usually.
Looks like the Dodge guy is eating something now. Just a plain white bag though …
http://www.roadfood.com/reviews/overview.aspx?refid=2959 This is what he’s eating!!!
It does look like that …
its definitly reds eats home of the lobster bun thing
OMG on The Red’s Eats web page is a photo of a Lobster Roll
Is he eating lobster rolls from red eats in wicasset, me?
and they are wrapped in foil…. with a little cup of dipping sauce
Can anyone make out what the reflection in the headlight now? It’s much more clear than it has been. I can almost make out another building – like a log cabin – and I swear it looks like 2 people standing next to a 5′ tall sign?
http://www.roadfood.com/reviews/overview.aspx?refid=2959
that boy eats FAST
A few doors down from Red’s Eats is a house with a possible garage that could be staged inside to look like a barn – Shin Bone Alley/Water Street on Google Earth street view.
heard the sound of small plane flying over just now
theres a small airport close by
plane just went overhead..where the car is….anyone hear it?
William & Stacy are you Boots on the ground….or at home on the computer
cmon people….find the sign….this is making me nuts…
…said this earlier…there’s a Sign Shop a couple of doors north of Red’s Eats
could they be near the beginning of the appalachian trail, baxter state park,
The next on the ground clue is probably to be found in or near the Ancient Cemetery, a “few doors” down (really up/north) from Red’s.
what is the total mileage to Wiscasset where Red’s Eats is?
call Red Eat’s and tell them – yeh – i was just in there- scruffy guy, black tshirt, tool belt… i think i dropped a tape measure… can you have a look for it?
see if he was there lol
Now I want a lobster roll!
How can the people in that small town not know, and if they did, why wouldn’t they be finding it? I have to think it’s got to be somewhere remote.
John the reflection on the bumper is the prop spotlights. The reflection in the headlight is the same. Pay attention to the sunlight in the backround that keeps re-appearing. Its pretty consistant as it moves accros the prop barn.
OMG>.. Who in here is on the Street in Maine????
If you go North on Commercial Street, you run into a Perry’s Grilled Hot Dogs, which I think is where he got the Hot Dog he was eating eating.
Just found this on the dodge YouTube page… its on the water in wiscasset… want this SO badly.
http://i.pbase.com/u26/dawnb/upload/19612533.Day4hJourneysEnd.JPG
That link won’t work for me. Disabled?
i think this is a red herring…. i saw pics of red eats and there are no red seats in front of the restaurant they are plastic white chairs…. this texacola
i think you all need to rethink this again. acadia natl park barns chickens antique cars….
But wouldn’t he have to be near there to have gotten one of the lobster rolls that look exactly like the one in the photo?
also wiscasset is also shy of the mileage
i hear the chooks clucking….. the first time i have heard anything…..on the live feed
you don’t think they have lobster rolls anywhere around there and wiscasset is south of the area i am speaking, whose to say when he got it
I think it is on Bath road between reds eats and airport
Dodge has really messed this up. Both of the prior searches stayed in the same state. Going as far as Maine appears to be a reaction by Dodge to the online sleuths who figured out many of their clues. The 5 slickly made commercials are a far cry from these random pictures they are using. They could have hidden the car somewhere else in NY or Vt. Still don’t understand the 25 back to 375 thing.
as im sure you all could identify, we could use a new car so badly. ridiculously badly. however, if we dont get it, we really hope it goes to someone who deserves it.
that restaurant its at a marina, i really hope we made the right decision coming south from acadia
i think people who are walking around should be looking for the red chair he was sitting in
Anyone notice the barn behind 60 Water Street?
Journeys End Marina…. Check out their website: “A trip to Journey’s End is just the beginning”
Hmmm…
Someone check camden hills state park. Google street view from route 52 with the lake just to west. Also looks like there’s two clearings just east of the road that could be the spot
Did anyone find the sign?
Does anyone know what kind of chickens those are?
Arg… Reds eats is 1 hour from Portland according to gps
i KNOW WHERE IT IS http://www.mofga.org/Default.aspx?tabid=799 this barn clos eto airport and reds eats
It could all be a set up. This is what they have shown us. As soon as you think you are closing in, they sent you running in the other directiion. Will they send you another 350 miles when you find that sign in Maine? I hear the planes pretty constantly, perhaps near an airport? or are they the sounds of boats going by?
chicken just walked through the live feed, guess it is the red chicken barn!!!!!
i wish we werent driving behing tweedle dee and tweedle dum
I called and listened again – he is definitely saying this:
Congratulations on getting this far.
But we can’t hold your hand forever.
This will be the last clue you will be able to get online.
The rest will all require you to get out into the real world.
Head north and stop when you see the red seats.
A few doors north from there, look for a sign.
It is red seats definitely!!
rockland is 70miles short of 500
Do not ignore the fact that the West search began (essentially) with a shot of the Pacific Ocean underneath the Golden Gate Bridge.
I would be very surprised at this point if we do not reach the Atlantic.
From sea to shining sea. That is the real journey ……. across the entire swath of real estate we call America.
Steve – can we confirm red’s eats?
http://www.portlandlobstercompany.com/video.html watch video
10 min from real world clue
What Real World Clue???
On street view there are red tables and benches just east of Red’s Eat’s. There is an unpaved road that goes north from there right along the railroad tracks – and Street view doesn’t go down the road….
I agree….red eats…..red seats in the back to sit on….its just finding the sign…..and as said above its rumored that there is a sign shop
Every lobster shack on RT 1 serves up lopsta rolls. As for the Dodge Journey….ask the locals and they’ll tell ya….can’t git tha from hea
hope whoever finds it splits it with me! i broke the clue, kick me down a hundred bucks for helping figure it out!!
Guys, help me figure this out.
The first… East of the Mississippi
Journeys End Rd
Mt Vernon, ME 04352
acadia first national park east of the mississippi
495 miles
Where does it make 495 miles?
So I wasted time and money. This became a game of follow the leader until the end. All because OK guy cheated. I will never consider buying a Dodge. good luck everyone.
Arcadia National Park! The first Natioanl park east of the Mississippi!!! Go!
He just walked past camera carrying a orange and white life preserver…its by the water…rockland Me Journey’s end marina still looks good
LOL. I thought there weren’t going to be anymore clues “online”. What a crock.
Couldn’t agree more … but at least those of us at home have something to do … LOL (watching a webcam!!)
OK he is hanging a rescue life preserver that says ME on it….. so its a harbor in ME
As has been pointed out, there are a number of places to pick up Lobster rolls on the main trek. Red’s is very well known however.
North from Red’s from there would be Water street, you have (from what I can tell: Wiscasset Old General Store, 49 Water Street, 207-882-6622 – I did call to confirm that they were next door)
After that: Water Street Antiques: 207-882-9700 – no answer.
I’m somewhat tempted to call someone there and ask them to step outside and look for an out of place sign. Thoughts?
do it
im tired of waiting
On street view there are red tables and benches just east of Red’s Eat’s. There is an unpaved road that goes north from there right along the railroad tracks – and Street view doesn’t go down the road…. (copied from my earlier post).
Or it could be a sign advertising another place …….like say in a travel agency window or somehing like that?
Great idea Steven, the sign may be on the other side of the buildings though as well
life preserver says “ME” for maine.
huh? is it over?
or are you quitting like me? I was soooo mad last night when they ended the clues for the night. Babysitters, gas money, hotel,,,,,I want to burn my own dodge now….that wont help will it?
keep going Shannon and Tim! You can do it!
its somewhere facing the water.. they had the jetski.. the lift perserver.. and the reflection of the boat in the headlights yesterday
what if it isn’t a barn and its a boat house????
Yes or building at a marina! I think it is time to head to the water.
They are searching for this Red’s Eats – I think that is wrong.
He clearly says – red seats.
Now he is nailing up a buoy under the “LIVE” sign. Along with the red seat he was sitting on while eating, so much for “no more online clues.”
Forget the vehicle. I am thinking false advertising litigation may be more profitable. Just kidding, Dodge execs. Or, am I? Could be a little misdirection on my part.
collective action lawsuit for gas of eveyone who drove to vt, commercials clearly state “we hid thee dodge journeys across the country and left them there,” not towed them another 350 miles.
Still thinking RED BARN @ Rockland ME
PIC: http://comps.canstockphoto.com/can-stock-photo_csp6016097.jpg
wicasset puts you all at roughly 464 miles so that means scour the water front
Interesting …. Wicasset to Rockland is 33 miles (really close to 500)
Can’t help but feel it’s near the Journey’s End Marina in Rockland because of their saying about it’s where it begins.
albany to rockland is 346 miles
I don’t feel sorry for the complainers. It was a fun challenge, and of course people had to drop out. Think about how many people were in Vermont yesterday, and didn’t make this trip to Maine. Did you really want it to be so easy? Sorry, I think it’s great that it turned out this way!
I’m right there with you, Barry. I flew into ME yesterday, drove a gazillion miles, flew out this morning on 3 hours sleep and still had fun.
I would have been a lot more disappointed if they hadn’t switched things up.
I also think the live feed dramatics are brilliant. Sort of an “un-subservient chicken” digital event.
Now that I’m back to being a digital voyeur, I especially like the fact that they’re playing with real clues on the ground. Anybody who made the drive from VT or NY really deserves the advantage.
from reds eats east on US1 about 3 miles is a DODGE RD
Think you may be right, Charles. The windows seem like they could be a match for the three that are reflected in the front left bumper of the DJ.
i just checked price line i can’t get a flight till tomorrow noonish…. but i can get a filght and a car for $600 from home to Bangor…… just debating weather i should or not….
But it i probably wounldn’t get there till near midnight so someone will surely find the Journey by then
Only prob is i don’t have a smart phone…… i would be cut of digitally….. ARGH Decisions Decisions…….
I just saw this post on Facebook – It’s at Journey’s End Marina in Rockland Maine. A coupple of doors away is Landings Restaurant. They have red plastic chairs (seats).
I know..people have been saying Journey’s End Marina for hours. We don’t know if anyone’s been there, do we?
Why do people keep thinking it’s in a ‘red’ barn? Was there a clue that said the barn was red at some point? Barns come in all colors.
I agree. I don’t believe there’s a been anything to indicate the color of the barn.
Nothing indicting that it is “Red” in color, that’s just what the picture is called. It’s been restored, it overlooks Journeys End Marina, and is out of the way (No accidental driveby’s) Could be a blue barn for all I care. Looks like the vertical siding also. Google maps shows it run down, but the picture I posted from earlier this year looks restored. On the water?
http://g.co/maps/5q96n
Streetview, Barn is in the distance. On the water, but out of sight.
I’m liking William & Stacy’s suggestion of Journey’s End Marina in Rockland. I’ve been trying to make out the reflection in the headlight, and to me it looks to me like a pier or wharf with lobster traps/fishing gear on it.
my mistake is it 464 to rockland not wicasett
That still fits the radius, doesn’t it?
Thanks Michelle…I’ve been saying that for hours now…frustrated b/c I couldn’t go and be there. Its fun. Good luck to all of you
You’re welcome! Sure makes sense. I could try to get there (only about an hour away), but I feel that others have been in this so long that it wouldn’t be right to jump in now. Plus I’m having such a good time trying to figure it out, and thinking that we might have helped in some small way is a great feeling!
it could be a boat house but why chickens in it at a marina
i still don’t quite get why they have chickens in there ?????
Maybe because it is inside – if you were out walking and exploring an area, you would hear the chickens.
I think the chickens are so they don’t have to have the timer to show that it’s a live feed…And it’s probably not truly “live.” I bet there’s a 10 minute delay – since that’s the amount the timer was “off” last night when they set it up.
Journey’s End Marina, 120 Tillson Ave., Rockland, Maine, has buildings on the docks (pair of docks?). As we’ve said before, it could be a fake barn as a prop. Maybe that’s part of the paradox.
Teh PAradox was in the first video, which apparently was “plan A”. We are on Plan “B”, so I think anything you saw in the first video is useless. my .02
Yeah, I agree with Charles.
Just saw someone mention this on Twitter. In Portland, ME – Portland Lobster Co (on 1) near the water. Google street view (near there, on the water, a little shack (red sign) and red seats?? http://maps.google.com/maps?oe=utf-8&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a&um=1&ie=UTF-8&q=Portland+Lobster+Co&fb=1&gl=us&hq=Portland+Lobster+Co&hnear=Portland+Lobster+Co&cid=0,0,14412865014580894912&ei=ZGp_TojOH4r10gG08ZHoDw&sa=X&oi=local_result&ct=image&ved=0CAQQ_BI
But hadn’t we already determined from the photo clues that they went farther north as far as YORK, ME……????
Portland is north of York.
Jenni. York is south of Kennebunkport: http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=york,+me&aq=&sll=44.00294,-69.664135&sspn=0.07458,0.180244&vpsrc=0&ie=UTF8&hq=&hnear=York,+Maine&ll=43.162368,-70.64827&spn=0.150005,0.360489&t=m&z=12&iwloc=A
Time and Temperature building is on Congress. Lobster company on Commercial (NE of T&T building). Didn’t someone already find the sign in Wiscasset?
http://www.portlandlobstercompany.com/video.html
The only thing about the marina I can’t shake is that there would probably be horns blowing, at least occasionally.
i was thinking the same thing..and just posted that! GMTA!
I see what you are doing– me too!!
ok i need coffee, made a type wicasset is before rockland, taking the route from albany to rockland it is only 430 some miles give or take a few.
i have a feeling that are messing with us, as i recall on the last leg we drove to elk city to get a clue further from where we needed to go only to pull us away from Black Kettle Grassland. If anyone noticed in the last video he was peeling potatoes which could have referred to kettle potato chips. so what the hell do lobsters and chickens and barns boats and horse drawing equipment have in common
@big dizzle why did you bring up the clue..”the first…..east of the mississippi”? That would lead to Acadia National Park.
karen, we so just plugged that in to the GPS. just hoping we have enough gas to get home to our little boy. oh no!!! too much driving! lets check it out, GPS says we are 18 miles from there
If your going there, check out the Red Barn overlooking Journey’s end Marina as well. It’s down by the water, and may be hard to see from the road. 654 Main Street, Rockland, Maine, United States
Apparently, there is an access road to this Barn across from Dunkin Doughnuts
charles, if you are right and we find it (if these drivers in front of us can learn where the gas pedal is) we are so buying you a drink
Out of curiousity….is anyone posting here actually in the Rockland/Portland area looking?
Hi Mike. I don’t know if we have anyone in the area, but there are a number in the hunt, in ME or northbound. Cheers!
Steve,
There is a sign shop at 51 Water Street – “Fairfield of Wiscasset Signs”. Just 2 doors from Red’s Eats. I would look in their window, if they have one!
Red Seats = Red’s Eats
Steve, this person is right. It wasn’t at an antique shop, it was at a sign shop.
Thanks for catching that and sharing. I’ve updated the post. And if you’d like to help fill in any holes, feel free
I haven’t had the time to sift through everything yet, e.g. I don’t believe I have the antique clue or message nor Rockland location.
All the best!
Just curious…at this time, is anyone on this board actually out physically looking for the Journey??
I believe Paul is…
also, it is just too quiet at that barn/boathouse for it to be at a marina though???? it must still be in a real desolate area and the production crew must be staying far enough away or being extremely quiet??
Hi Patricia. Yes, but you’d have to define “on this board” – I’ve heard and corresponded with several that are still in the hunt, on route – and receive updates via their mobile phones (either email subscriptions or reading through the comments) Mike, I’m pretty sure was already in Maine. Cheers!
Has anyone considered the “Red Barn” in Rockland Maine… near Journeys End Marina?
I first brought it up @ 10:25 this morning. Almost 4 hours ago.
The only thing we know for certain is that its in Maine, in something that appears to be a Barn from the inside and somehow he got Lobsta rolls for his lunch… So if ya’ll were me would you book a flight now……??? cuz i gots the time just not a ton of money or a smart phone??? $600 would do the flight and car….
if you said this lastnight i would say yes, but at this point someone will find it at any min. i personally wouldnt
No. What if someone finds in while you’re on the way to the airport?
i think ya’ll are right….. especially since i wouldn’t get actual flight times til i pay for the flight…….. thanks just needed to hear it outside my own head…my heart don’t hear my head to clear sometimes
Hi, Jenni,
You mentioned you can’t get a flight till tomorrow? I think at this point I’d hang on to your money. Feels like someone might be getting close–or Dodge could send everyone off on another leg altogether.
Charles has the best idea.
654 Main Street in Rockland. The long red barn sitting on the water/ocean.
Go and get it.
what does this have to do with the message given with the phone number..nothing to do with red seats or red eats or red jeeps and no signs
it looks like in the reflection in the bumper that a half circle window is above the three windows
Maybe they are waiting for at least two groups to find it. In case there is another Oklahoma type incident.
My thought was that he was sitting in a red seat AND eating Red Eats because the real clue, the red Jeep, was out on the street a couple of doors away from the sign.
What if it is not an actual building. What if it is a stage – like a set – that they have put up for this? I mean could that be possible?
The other two were out in the open – so this would have to be right? Kind of hiding in plain sight?
I wouldn’t think they would have it on private property. Would have to be something with at least public access?
So it is sitting in a set on a soundstage? That would be so messed up.
If it was not an actual barn, i.e. a prop or set, I would be disappointed. Someone mentioned a boat house. Possible, but then where did they get the chickens?
I didn’t think it would be out in the open this time since there were rumors of having someone flying overhead to find it.
hope this helps with the chickens…lmao
After World War II, however, the Belfast economy was driven by its poultry industry, including 2 of the state’s larger processors, Maplewood and Penobscot Poultry. Waldo County farms supplied the factories with up to 200,000 birds a day. The annual Broiler Festival became a popular summer event, attracting both local people and tourists. But the poultry business collapsed in the mid-1970s during a national recession, devastating the city and surrounding towns. In the early 1980s, the defunct chicken-feed silos that once fed millions of chickens at the foot of Main Street were demolished.

Jones Landing Marina on Peaks Island? Just south of it are a bunch of red picnic tables.
(barn in middle of pic?)
https://marinas.com/view/marina/1647_Peaks_Island_Marina_ME
What does Rockland have to do with teh message we got on the phone- that was a huge clue
Not sure yet, but why would you go all that way and NOT go to Journey’s End Marina (Rockland, ME), on the Atlantic Coast, after starting on the Pacific Coast?
YES!!!!!OMG….Journeys End Marina’s website says….A trip to Journey’s End is just the beginning!…That’s gotta be where it is!!! Somebody go there!
was that hammering i just heard on the live feed….???
One other possibility in Rockland.
50 Tillson Avenue, Rockland, Maine, United States
Journey’s End Marina itself with a structure large enough to house the vehicle and crew.
The red barn just to the north, however, is the best bet. Damn it, Scotty, beam me down!
how can you tell thats a barn?
less than 3 miles to get to the address charles gave us….
Good luck guys!! We also had to bail on the trip to get home to our son…Hope your guys find it!!!!!
Go Paul!!! I hope I am right! Wish I was up there, and not down here in Florida.
not there…
boo! walk around listen for chickens
Here’s my guess…
43 Mechanic Street, Rockland, Maine
The Red Barn is from the 18th century
Looks about the right size.
Google Sreet view shows it
am i blind i dont see a red barn what is wrong with me???
just curious, has anyone looked for or found the sign referred to in the telephone clue?
I think the reason dodge says it is the most important clue is that is says “CALL” and below it is the phone number on the little display.
can anyone channel chickens?
THE RUMBLING STOPPED IN THE LIVE FEED
I don’t hear anymore chickens! silence!
sound gone. Some finally find it?
Perhaps. The sound is gone …
Don’t think so – I still see the chickens walking around, and the sound just came back on.
Wonder if it’s Paul?
If Paul finds it, I want a Shout-out!!!
they would show it if it were found wouldn’t they
They didn’t show it right away last week. They just cut the sound and shortly put up hat it was found.
Audio is Back…someone is there???
In the headlight reflection, it looks like there’s also a larger-sized black SUV parked outside the building…?
i see shadows of movement
The only reservation I have about the red barn on the marina is the lack of noise (and wind). Disturbing.
Can anyone make out what is says on the life preserver in the live feed under the ME.
Does that say Rockland? Has this been discussed?
feed was on a 10 minute delay last night…
don’t think Paul is there yet…
would be 10 minutes till we know
sound is back :/
If you go to Rockport, Maine which is 25 miles East of the last clue (which was Journeys End boat narbor which is in Penobscot Bay (website actually says its not the end of the journey, its the beginnign) then go to Reds Eats (famous Lobster shack in Rockport) – then head a few doors north and look for the sign you’ll see “Route 1″. If you go North on route 1 and go 300 miles you’ll just barely be in canada… but at the end of route 1 is Fort Peck, and Monument Park (287 Miles away) so its approx…. Along the way you’d see another “Eagle Lake” and another “Acadia park”. It is the “beginning of the end” of the longest East Coast highway that runs all the way to Key West (the furthest southern point in the US). If thats not it, then I would be surprised – but it sure sounds logical. Wish I was near maine, but live outside DC and have no hope of getting there. If someone else actually finds it there because this happens to work out it will be 2 days of searching “well spent”.
Sounds good to me! Too bad i’m located near DC as well! : (
And now the sound (including chickens) is back …
paul???? You still out there?
I cant believe how many things are named Journey’s End…. its nuts…
hey carsitter dude, honk the horn a few times.
I know right!
the life preserver is coast guard colors
OMG….Journeys End Marina’s website says….A trip to Journey’s End is just the beginning!…That’s gotta be where it is!!! Somebody go there!
http://oharacorporation.com/marina.htm
I said that over an hour ago, lol. Lets hope its there and end this madness!
Crap, not at the Red Barn…
Journey’s End Marina??
Just north of Portland Lobster Co. (red chairs) is Casco Bay Ferry….
Ahhh…. the good ol’ days when the clues were easy and straight forward like HWY 283…. the truck has 283 horse power…. oh highway 283 goes to Dodge City and there is a small National Park there… oh no brainer…. now we are looking at chickens…. LOL
Amen! West coast had it easy!
wasnt at journeys end, now headed to mechanic st
sounds gone and I dont see anyone moving….wth..oh I see a chicken…..its still moving….
Tell Paul to blow the horn and maybe we can hear him and let him know he’s close.
by the way, this is pauls wife, lol im navigating
is there gonna be another “Real World” clue like the life preserver???
someone is rolling a pipe on the floor?
Hey cowboy-graffer, those chickens need some water after eating all that corn, grain! Don’t let PETA get after you!
Why do I feel like I’m watching The Truman Show??
OMG!! Hysterical!!! Thanks, I needed a laugh!!!
LOL
it looks to me like there is a big white truck backed up to the door….kinda like the one in the crew photo Steven showed us a couple of days ago…… i wish i could freeze frame that live feed and blow that area up high rez
they do have a Class C motorhome that could be backed up there. It was in that photo also
belfast me was a huge chicken processing place at one time it is also off rt 1
look for two docks “pair of docks = paradox”
great one, Paul! The suspense…the drama…all from my sofa – Go find it!
We think we hear a bell or a flagpole in the distance
…maybe..
There is a chick’s marina in maine
Still in the game here but I’m stuck. Not heading to Journeys End because there’s been no connection to the phone clue and going deeper 40 mins to be one of hundreds wandering around looking at this blog on their iPhone for the next step doesn’t sound like a great idea.
I’m going to sit and think on this phone clue. Not sold on eats or seats anymore.
I think going to Red’s Eats and then the red seats is the right thing to find the sign. It include’s the phone clue and the red chair clue. Just to the east of Red’s Eats (maybe 100 feet) across a little road, not paved and (not named )and RR tracks are red hexagonal bench/table seats. That little road goes north and it’s not paved so street view doesn’t follow, but there’s only maybe five individual places on the west side of that little road.
Mr.T is approaching Wiscasset. Anyone got any info on the sign?
It is possible that the sign, a few doors north of “the red seats/eats”, will say … now go here (and it had better be an address, no more clues, there’s been enough exploring)
we are headed to reds eats. the 3 marina areas with barns we looked in were all a no-go.
Gotcha Paul – don’t jump to a barn. You need to find “the red seats/easts/whatever” then a few doors down, find the sign – the sign may tell you where to go next … but if you can find the red seats/eats, and then a sign, you may not be in the right place. Best of luck!
Chicken Lobster
LIVE SHOT JUST BRIGHTENED UP LIKE A DOOR OPENED
has anyone actually confirmed the message as red eat’s or red seats? i think we need to go back to that because if that isn’t correct you won’t see a sign to lead you to the next clue. i am not on the ground so i can’t physically look but seems important to confirm. he was sitting on a red seat eating a lobster roll, but the red eat’s place doesn’t have red seats….
I’m throwing this out to whoever before I got to leave this party – My guess is Gilsland Farm, just north of Portland ME on Hwy1 and off Providence Ave. Why? From (Ralph) Gilles, just subtract a few letters (we’ve seen that already) to get to Gils-land. And from the Leo LaPorte reference – born in Providence RI… Oh, if I wasn’t 3,000 miles away.
GILS can be spelled from the letters on the Wild West Ranch sign.
Report from someone on Twitter that they are on Water Street.
tempted to go to a dodge dealership, start jumping up and down next to a red journey, and yell ”
I FOUND IT, I FOUND IT!”
Lis-tradamus prediction!… Paul Rousey will find the Dodge Journey and the Steelers will kick some serious butt tonight!
Keep your eye on the prize! We are rooting for you!
Who’s a STEELERS fan??
(I am – feel sorry for Indy)
COME ON DODGE THROW THESE HUNTERS A BONE, A HORN HONK, A DOOR SLAM, START IT UP…. SOMETHING PLEEEEEEEESSSSSSEEEEEEE.
The barn looks staged to me, but I think it really was a horse barn at one time. Look through the life preserver. See how the vertical wooden post looks chewed on the edges? When horses are locked up in stalls, they get bored and chew on wood. It’s called cribbing. The damage looks just like that. The stall fronts are gone, but the Journey is backed into a stall.
ok lets help paul, where were we before the message on the phone about the red seats. it said a few doors north from there look for a sign,,,, we need to get him to that point
I agree!
From one of the guys on the road with the Journey… http://twitter.com/#!/greg_rutter/status/118034029030289408
Someone on the group try the Maine State Pier/Casco Bay Ferry area…in Portland just north of Portland Lobster Company (red seats)

Okay – that is about as light and clear as I can get the capture of the live shot with a screen.
Does not reveal a lot on the reflection in the headlamp. Are those buildings out there?
im not sure we are getting a good reflection from the actual headlight…could be distorted by the light used to highlight the car, or distorted by internal shape of headlight reflector…might be better to use the reflection in bumber/fender area

@big dizzle why did you bring up the clue..”the first…..east of the mississippi”? That would lead to Acadia National Park.
Does anyone know the answer to this? I thought it was the physical clue sign … down from the red seats. Am I wrong?
Minor tweak … north from (vs down from).
Thanks Steve for correction!
The reflection in the headlight is the light prop not an open door.
Yes – Agreed. As he was cleaning in the live view, it did not go away. So that reflection is not anything at all.
Steven,
do you know what the red scissors on the sign with the statues of liberty and 12 stars around it means?
ok someone is really close he is wiping car down he did that last time
Am I hallucinating or is something on his one boot?
Yeah. Piece of hay … LOL
PAUL AND OTHERS HE IS GOING TO SHUT THE HATCH I A FEW LISTEN FOR THE SOUND
Found one of the stickers online that is on the life preserver…… it only has ME on it nothing else in the Oval outline
http://www.cafepress.com/thesharpfork.481819309?pid=15766866
Gotta be near water, in the end, b/c of the life preserver. I still say it is on the ocean somewhere.
Did y’all notice how he wiped the ‘reflection area’–not once, twice but not 3 times. LIke it is showing us something!!
As to the bumper–those are windows as you could see ‘night time come’ last night. Someone figure this out–the windows were dimmer this AM and now brighter this PM so which side would those windows be on?? West?
meant he wiped it 3 times.
maybe they read my comment about the windows and the half circle one
I don’t want one of these Dodge trucks, you have to dust it off all the time…
i just want to find it, so my life can be 210000% easier, and get home and make a warm meal, shower!!!, and hug my 3 year old. come on dodge… we’ve been at this since 6pm friday
Big Dizzle asked for a riddle solution at 1:32. What do you make of this Steven? It sounds like a clue leading to ANP. As the kids say, that question was kind of random!
I must have missed it. Where did the question come from? (but let me search through the comments) Thanks!
Good find, Jenni!
The sign shop on Water Street, 3 doors down from Red Eats, is where the sign should be. Can anyone confirm that they are actually around there? Im armchair quarterbacking now after driving homw from New Hampshire with serious road burn. I was convinced they would take the route all the way back to Albany….Im seeing Im wrong…trying to help anyone at this point I just need the agony to end!! Someone has to read that sign
Yes, I agree. The clue should be at the Fairfield Sign Shop at 51 Water Street #C, just up from Red’s Eats. Look in the window, under the mat, on the door, on the sign for shop, if they are open today, go in and ask. I believe it will be there.
ok we are about 20 miles north of wiscasset, the reds eats. behind the slowest people in the world. any ideas of chicken farms in the area? any ideas on the “clue sign”? thanks for the support. we owe you guys a drink, or a few!
if you are riding around and see us we’re are the exhausted couple in the really dirty acura with mass plates.
I still cannot figure out those blooming chickens!
Just vision candy for us, rather than yesterday’s clock!
Anyone actually finding that sign near Red’s is most likely keeping it to themselves at this point in the game. I know I would not divulge after this marathon effort if I were there. Too close to the terminus point.
LOL – I would take the bloody sign with me!!!
Rockland Chickens
http://www.facebook.com/pages/Backyard-Chickens-in-Rockland-Maine/220167294670167
I saw that a while back, but didn’t find any clues. Maybe someone else will.
Am I wrong or are those horse collars on the wall?
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Horse_collar
That would mean working horses, right?
Like here:
http://buckwheatblossomfarm.blogspot.com/
in Wiscasset.
They also have chickens.
Yes, those are horse collars. All the props are consistent with working horses. Yesterday, the guy on the feed also made a big show of cleaning up “manure” behind the vehicle, like it took a dump on the floor. The manure fork is still on the back wall on the right.
yes, those are horse collars… albeit old ones but definitely horse collars
Buckwheat Blossom Farm (156 Gardiner Rd, Wiscasset 04578) uses their horses to plow. But from the looks of the photos on their blog, it would seem like the collars are too small. There’s a barn in Google maps that might match and shots of their other outbuildings show similar post and beam construction.
It’d be pretty darned funny if some of those chickens jumped up and Shat all over the Journey…….LOL
that would be really crappy… (im sorry i had to lol)
Paul i stated Rockland Belfast area is know for chicken farms, but i don’t know if that fits
there is a state park near you
Backyard chickens is a website for chicken owners…it really has nothing to do with it, there is backyard chickens for New York too, we belong to it, The sign shop on Water St is the ticket people. you need the next clue,
Did anyone out there actually check the structures that rest directly out on Journey’s End Marina?
Journey’s End Marina
(207) 594-4444
120 Tillson Ave, #1, Rockland, ME 04841
Probably too noise there to be the correct location (with all of the watercraft out on a Sunday) but worth a look if you’re already in the neighborhood.
Anyone here from Michigan?
I live in NJ, but consider myself a Michigander
Have I missed something? Has anyone found the “Red Jeep” from the phone clue?
yes that is horse equipment for them to pull a plow or drive a cart
Does anyone recall seeing the Item ( Blue ) hanging from his belt? Maybe a key holder for a water vessel?
This just up on Twitter –
Dodge – Someone is within 15 miles of the East coast Dodge Journey. Stay tuned. youtube.com/dodge #JourneySearch
I was just going to ask the same thing. They are getting it from a blog or their live chat feed.
Dodge has to have people watching the physical clues to make sure they don’t walk off.
I bet they have spotters out there to relay info… Probably somebody is watching that sign too so make sure nobody tampers with it
According to the rules, if you tamper with a sign you could be disqualified. They should have someone sitting there watching those signs, and when someone takes one down, they should write down the plate number and nail a new one up.
there was a person there b4
I am sure they are reading your site!!! Could it be Paul?? You also stated someone else was on Water Street….
that 15 miles away must have been on a slow road to china….. cuz that was over 1/2 an hour ago
Steven the comments are all mixed up time wise again…….
Yes. Out of my control. Threaded based on replies. So, if you reply, then reply to a reply … well, you get it.
Ok all, remember, hit reply on last post.
“woodworking made by hard labor”…there is a facebook page for a chainsaw artist named Josh Turner, Route 1, Wiscasset, whose nickname is “Chicken.” http://www.facebook.com/pages/Chicken-AKA-Josh-Turners-Chainsaw-Art-and-Fire-Shows/116883141688911

#JourneySearch everywhere we go there is a phone # with a new clue, for those following me. I don’t want to give any away! Sorry!
Interesting. Is there a third audible clue?
Maine State Prison Showroom in Warren, ME, en route to Journey End Marina….
Sorry Kathy I thought you were on the road. Zen do you think your in the front of the pack. This is the first I’m hearing of a 3rd audible clue. How close do you think you are?
Not me – I am in my easy chair.
There was music playing – nothing I recognized. I thought someone might be close outside and they didnt want us to hear
I’m sure it means made by prisoners. They do great woodworking and sell it as part of the prison industries.
Ah, good point! I had forgotten about that. Thomaston Prison Shop, 358 Main St., Thomaston, ME
Thomaston is outside the 15-mile radius from Wiscasset, so is the final location somewhere between the two…?
They never said the clue was within 15 miles, just that somebody was within 15 miles.
Ummm. Somebody there? Journey’s end? Hello???
Dodge We hear someone is very close. Stay tuned. youtube.com/dodge #JourneySearch
Sep 25th, 2011 1:33 PM
that is pacific time……
theres a little light shinning on the floor boards right in front of the Journey that was not there before
Second Post – Melissa just claimed her new Dodge Journey!
(what is wrong with this sites posting all of a sudden?)
mine aren’t posting since about an hour ago…
Congratulations to the winner !! Anyone know where it was?
Congratulations Melissa!!!!! Where she find it?
Check out the pin on the map on youtube.com/dodge. It shows where it was found.
Posted by dodge on you tube ……The Route the Journey took

Last Clue: Where donuts meets Mosquitoes? Interesting that we can not even goggle street the place.
On Google maps, there is a Donut Point Road so it does show up. Pretty empty area – no Street views. Satellite shows multiple possible buildings.
I wonder if Melissa is from Maine? Or close by and knows the area?
Thanks, Steven!
It has been fun.
O! the Joy
Ocian in view!
I always felt there was a very good chance they would span Pacific to Atlantic with this contest. For wouldn’t it have felt truncated and anticlimactic if they would have left us all 30 miles outside of the coast?
Great call on Angelique’s, by the way. I have a feeling if you and I had had a boot or two on the ground we might have been the first ones there. At least that is the way I am going to write it up in my memoirs.
Adios, amigo.
~ David
I agree David. Been a real pleasure. Until the next adventure. Cheers!
Steven, Thanks for all. Without your blog, The true “JOURNEY” would not have been as fun. You have been great. Thanks again.
Hey Shawn. Thanks for the kind words and thank YOU. It was a remarkable adventure. All the best!
I just want to say a sincere thanks to Steven for hosting the party and also thanks to a wonderful group of internet friends who came together and conducted themselves in a friendly, civil and supportive way. It doesn’t happen that often anymore on the web. Maybe I’m just hanging out in the wrong places.
This party rocked!
(sorry for the repost but the first one went in 40 posts up the list)
I’ve been looking at that damn Time & Temperature building, (the last visual clue), out my apartment window, two blocks away for 17 years. I just dragged myself back into said apartment after traveling about 625 miles round trip; driving up dirt roads in Paradox and Schroon Lake, and sleeping in my car at Ticonderoga. I feel like I’ve just been made the butt of a cosmic joke! Regardless, I enjoyed your blog Steven and the contributions made by other bloggers. Nice to see the generosity of souls without a chance of winning the vehicle. BTW, With nothing but a U.S. atlas, an old, awkward laptop, (with a dead battery), a basic cell phone and a 1997 Subaru Outback with a non-functioning odometer, (MY search engine for the “World Wide World”), I missed an exit on the way and ended up in Bethel, VT where I witnessed some of the devastation wrought by Hurricane Irene. Thinking of those people tonight. (Sorry for the double post, the other one went in the middle of the page, maybe that one can deleted? Thanks.)
My last post seems to have been deleted?
Steven Barley, you’re probably tired right now, but I’d love to see your write-up of this search, particularly focused not so much on the game itself but regarding the online shared experience.
Yeah, just a bit … but not as tired as those that were on the hunt I imagine. I like your idea and will give it some serious thought – it was truly remarkable to see our community grow so quickly over the past week. Everyone had a voice. Everyone contributed and … we all shared in the adventure. All the best!
Thanks Steven!!!!! You are the Man! I seriously hope the NSA or CIA gives you a seven figure salary Job soon!!! I Know I would sleep better at night with you on the Job!! LOL
But Seriously thanks for making this forum and for making it so much fun for everyone!
Hopefully we will get to do this again soon!!!
Interesting….. Zoom in and look at the end.
Well, congrats to Melissa! All you other searchers, don’t give up since you can still be a runner-up if you get to the hidden location. Just in case Melissa decides to decline the prize, or is disqualified for some reason. Please insist that the crew take down your name and contact information as a runner-up!! They didn’t do this in the Midwest, and that’s why there’s still no answers as to whether a runner-up will get the Midwest Journey.
Thank you Steven.
Indeed, thanks for your time and efforts.
It ended just like the “LOST” episodes, but it was fun.
Thank you so much, Steven!

Thanks Everyone for a very entertaining week, Weekend, and Hunt…… and especially thanks to Steven Barley…… the Hunt master that brought us all together….
Ended in Tennants harbor
We’re assuming that the 15 mile call was from someone there vs farther up …
Did you hear the clapping??
Yeah.. I did and i think someone yelling….
Ha, they just showed the Journey commercial on tv right now!
I did.
yes, clapping and cheering about 5 minutes ago, but no one on cam yet.
maybe someone oblivious to the contest came by to ask for directions…lol
I hope someone from Steve’s blog wins. My friend was in 2nd for midwest
Actually … had to double check … that was from Dodge. This might be over soon!
someone within 15 miles per dodge on twitter
yes Robert….the red chair =RED and that was EATS not jeep…REDS EATS on water street.
which is also famous for it lobster roll.
I’ve read that, but I’m not buying it. How many people drove by the Rt 73 & 74 intersection without the ending clue sign being posted? They know we are using Google. And Google can’t control them parking a red Jeep with another real world clue posted nearby. I’ve got my stake on the red Jeep unless another prevailing thought makes more sense.
They wouldn’t use a Jeep. That would be cross advertising for the competition. This is Dodge afterall.
everyone said it says red eat’s or red seats my husband also thought it said red jeep which is a chrysler product
NO no-one has successfully solved the phone in clue…….
Its gotta be back toward portland..thats where im sending my driver- it was the last slideshow pic and where the number was given to look around in the real world
Good point Steve. How do they know? unless someone posted their location
just saw this on the Dodge i tunes page
Dodge Someone is within 15 miles of the East coast Dodge Journey. Stay tuned. youtube.com/dodge #JourneySearch
so they are spying on the roads in the area…..
Steve I got it. you have a guy in the area? Of Wiscassett me?
I think someone needs to backtrack – go back to monument square at the CALL JOE Time and Temp building. Find due north and get on foot! Find some red seats, go two doors down, look for a sign.
We are missing something here – that sign has to be located. It is crucial!
How could they know that?
Hi guys,
I’ve been following this forum for awhile, but this is my first post. My boyfriend is on the ground. He read the the sign in the window of the sign shop a few doors down from Red’s Eats- “Life is a journey, not a destination 1-888-xxx-xxxx”
When we called the number, it said to go north, look for woodworking and windowshop at an antique store that’s owner’s name rhymes with what they sell and in that window “you’ll find what you’re looking for”
There’s a store called Shady Lady, but there’s not much in that window.
Any help is appreciated
Hi Chelsea and yes!! Confirmation of the sign … and near Red’s Eats (they just spoke it wrong).
And Chelsea. We’ll get looking … so that should be continuing on Water Street, yes?
Chelsea. Can you confirm his route from Red’s?
From Red’s, the sign shop is one block north.
The Shady Lady is on the south side of Water St, but he couldn’t find anything meaningful in the window.
OK. Here’s the full message (because of the first part and to be fair to your boyfriends progress – I removed the number from your post)
“Nice work.
In the window, you’ll find what you’re looking for.”
I like Shady Lady … but if that’s south on Water Street, it seems like the wrong direction … “blend in with the locals as you head north” is curious … there are a lot of antiques shops, will start to check. Worth mentioning: Dodge said someone was 15 miles away. I believe the only way they could know that is my getting the phone call and this location is within 15 miles (unless there’s another one
)
It may not be near Red’s but further north … that’s a personal call. Switching over to search now.
Is there a reflection in the window?
He said there isn’t. Dodge was really serious about taking this search into the “real world.” I’m at HQ in Illinois and this marks the first time in my life Google couldn’t help me o_O
Was he traveling up 1, then detoured to Red’s Eats. I been monitoring someone on Twitter who’s moved on to thomaston, me, now to Rockland, me. I know you saw that everyone has turn over wiscasset over looking for that antique store. It could be further along. Or just not to be found in google. I expanded my search several times. There are many … nothing has jumped out … yet
Check this out
Look at the pictures.. Especially the one in the barn with the cut outs it the wood
timber framing
How would they know if a car going by was in this search. I think they saw it written online.
http://barnonwalnuthill.com/barn.html
Forgot the link
that is interesting but…. the beams look a little too high
Type of barn is good but the flooring is wrong.
Well Paul i hope you get it I hope your the one…… and i hope you ate a couple of Lobster Rolls too….. gots to keep your strength up…
thanks jenni, i wish. we barely have enough money to make it home, nevermind eating anything
robin i am with you….i don’t think red eats is confirmed… the guy came in and sat on a red seat and ate a lobster roll
I told Amber (on the other feed) to check out the store windows for advertisements. She said a minute or so ago that you have to window shop in the antique stores (near reds). So Paul, do that……if you can’t be first, at least be second just in case.
Been listening to that message on the phone over and over again and I’m now 100% convinced somewhere along a route north of Portland are are series of Red Jeeps (perhaps a dealership?) and a “few doors down”, well you are pointed to a specific car where they have left a clue.
[And that's how Dodge knew ... someone called a new number! from the sign by Red's Eats]
your link didnt show up
ok i logged on twitter and it states someone is with in 15 miles and it also says again the call sign and the number is the most important clue so if you were where that call sign was and then listened to the message and looked for red seats and a sign you should be on the right track
Someone just said that those are Rock Island Red chickens. clue?
Supposedly a sign with a number down the road from the T/T building in Portland
i really hope we find the car, obviously, but if not i really hope its found by someone who needs a car, cant afford one, lost one, or needs one for their family… not someone who can afford to buy a new car if they need (even if it infringes on their shopping or chauffeur expenses. good luck everyone and thank you again for all the support and help. we are less than a mile from reds and traffic is at a stand still.
HEY have a look at this! http://barnonwalnuthill.com/pictures.html
Barn on Walnut Hill
655 Walnut Hill Rd
Yarmouth, ME
It looks very similar to the inside of our barn!!
Robin, I think its there too! I just posted that… I really really do!
I saw that earlier too, and it used to be a chickien coup
The floor is varnished though
Well i am gonna go take a long hot shower and by the time i get back someone will have found it…….hopefully…
Did anyone check out the Red Barn Publishing barn on:
43 Mechanic Street, Rockland, Maine
The Red Barn is from the 18th century.
http://www.redbarnrockland.com/index.html
Look for the crew white trailer. I think that is the reflections.
we have seen the same white dodge truck, a 2012 RAM, since we were in vermont, same one in NH, and again in acadia… it didnt have a front license plate and we didnt see the back.
Is there a norway street near the marina or in that town? If not, maybe it made its way up to Norway maine?:
http://www.webstockpro.com/Radius2/600-03682064.Life-Ring-Hanging-on-Wall-Photo
There is suddenly a lot more activity in the barn.
This car was just found.. look at the reflection.. they turned on the lights. they are interviewing the winner!!!!!
HUH, dodge won’t let me post on youtube. Probably because I was part of what busted up the midwest and the cheating that was allowed. But they sure made this east coast hard.
Patricia Stauble Antiques (Stauble/Bauble)?
plymouth rock is a type of chicken and plymouth is in main
rhode island red is a chicken also
Anyone else just see the lights turn on???
And the chickens are gone as well.
Pssst!

I hope the message the person got is obvious and this ends soon. I sure hope it isn’t someone who just jumped in at the last minute.
Called the second number – this is the message verbatim:
Nice work. First things first – be careful who you share this number with.
99% of the people that are hoping to find the Journey think they can find it from their easy chair – so don’t undo all your own hard work.
Blend in with the locals as you head north.
Check out some woodworking made by hard labor, or better yet,
we hear antiquing is huge around here, so why not do some window shopping.
There is one in particular that is named after the owner whose name also rhymes with what she sells. In the window, you will find what you are looking for.
Do we have confirmation of where the 2nd telephone number came from? The location???

robin, are you here? we are at the antique shops…
No Paul – I am in Virginia – but GO GO GO GO GO.
There are two Patricia Stauble Antique shops. One in Wicasset and another in Westport (near there).
Look for signs in the windows.
Paul- is there a clue at Stauble Antiques??
robin where did you get that phone number from?
Someone posted in this feed!!! I just called it and transcribed what the guy said – LOL
Robin,
The second number was the “real world” clue located in the window of the Fairfield Sign Shop near Red’s Eats.
Awesome – helps pinpoint the direction
winner?
That barn you posted – Walnut Hill – was a former chicken coop
Stauble & Chamber Antiques?
The shop is located on the corner of Rt. 1 and Pleasant St (180 Main) just one block south of the Post Office. Wiscasset is approximately one hour north of Portland.
http://www.staublechambersantiques.com/
Stauble rhyming with bauble, as Jamie pointed out. Makes sense.
Im so confused now.
FYI: This guy is part of the crew: http://twitter.com/#!/greg_rutter I just told him the truck looks dirty and he needs to clean it again.
Patricia Stauble Antiques, Main Road, Westport, ME is up the road just a bit like three strees up and across… from Red’s Eats
Why three clues all in Wiscasset, though? We need to move to a rural area to find the barn, do we not?
why are all the posts mixed up…. Paul i don’t know how far you are from the last confirmed clue but i would head that way, as we don’t know is wicasset is confirmed
Tweets shows 39 minutes ago.
we can’t help any longer…clues need to be found on the street no more online things like they said
what is a bauble?
a trinket….?????
we talked to patricia stauble, its not her
The clue said “name also rhymes with what she sells.” Sounds to me like ‘ she sells sea shells’ ….
French and Van Dyke Antiques on Federal?
Thank you Steve….
ROBIN where did you get that number from and listen to the message?
I got the number from this website. It was posted somewhere up there ^^^. I called it and transcribed it.
Yes. And I quickly removed. I appreciate Chelsea’s request for assistance and didn’t want to jeopardize their position.
Stop at Otto’s Pizza!
Good, but where is the rhyme?
Winner winner chicken dinner!
LOL
in Wicasset….Sheepscot Pottery….maybe close to there…
[Just a quick request. DO NOT post that phone number (from the second clue) We're not the only ones here or tuned in and have to keep it fair. Thank you]
I agree! That is why I specifically only posted what the telephone call said and not the number. Fair and fair
at least this is an interesting study in running this kind of contest.
I agree Karl. They have us glued to a LIVE feed (they should be running ads on each side) … and do have some out exploring the world wide world. It IS an Amazing Race (er, Journey)
We are glued to a live feed here as well. Maybe SB should be running ads on 4 sides.
Too quiet, someone’s busy or real close !!!
The Walnut Hill Barn looks exact. The floor could be covered with plywood and straw to protect it.
Could it be where the Dodge family is buried?
http://www.dodgefamily.org/CemeteryHeadstonePages/Maine/Edgecomb_SpringHillFarmRd/SpringHillFarmRdCemetery.shtml
everyones grasping at straws again…. just follow the crumb trail!! find that antiques dealer
But it’s what we do!!!
LOL, Cycling Zen! Really, ShannonandTim, please don’t take away my reason for living!!
ok all good luck and can’t sit here anymore, i am like ready for a nap…
From Twitter: Someone reports that they are in Thomaston, ME … farther north along {1}
I’m having trouble confirming this, but it looks like Shady Lady Antiques in Wiscasset is owned by a woman named Monique. Antique..Monique- it rhymes. Perhaps it can be confirmed by someone actually at the shop?
I checked the business directory for Wiscasset and can’t find any rhyming names.
http://www.yellowbook.com/local-business-directory/?where=wiscasset%2c+me&page=1
im confused as hell
shady lady antique eun by monique
*run
Don’t get discouraged – I really want you guys to win this one!
The message said:
Blend in with the locals as you head north.
Check out some woodworking made by hard labor, or better yet,
we hear antiquing is huge around here, so why not do some window shopping.
There is one in particular that is named after the owner whose name also rhymes with what she sells. In the window, you will find what you are looking for.
So you are looking for a feminine name of a shop that would rhyme with what is inside for sale – like casket and basket, or clower and flower. But think antiques – they gave that clue.
Drive due north from the point of the last clue. It may not be “in” Wicasett, but further north!
GO GO GO GO GO!!!!
Go Paul & Wife!!!!!!! Florida is cheering for you!!!!! You can do this!!!!!
Go Go Go Go
Everyone re-tweet this! http://twitter.com/#!/jgarland79/status/118055898093592576
getting really discouraged. the last clue was too confusing…
paul, cross 1 to dodge road hen down to spring hill farm, where dodge family buried?
Tha is a little morbid… don’t ya think?
That is a little morbid… don’t ya think?
yeah, agreed, just thinkin out loud
Person on Twitter may be giving minor clues but my guess is she is leading competitors away. Says she doesn’t want to say much but …
How this is running now is similar to how all three of these should have been run from the start – fun for those on the ground and here at home. I would like any future contest to sort of require some assistance from a base.
Hi David. I completely agree. They now have people out exploring the World Wide World … kind of like a US based Amazing Race. Just no challenges
STEVEN please read this.
I was literally blocked from the Dodge discussion feed on my Youtube account because I was giving out clues leading very close to the Journey.
I was looking at some of the tweets from Dodge and I noticed something odd… Right before the first clue was unveiled, they sent out this tweet:
“Gather your search party and stock up on beef jerky. The East coast #JourneySearch begins tomorrow at 12PM EDT. YouTube.com/dodge”
Nothing too weird. But then… After the fifth clue, and some time, I noticed this second tweet (in response to someone’s picture of their “dinner”, a piece of bread and peanut butter)
“Hmm. Add some beef jerky? @prestondabbs Dinner. #JourneySearch http://t.co/eqg5cjUU”
So I thought I saw ‘beef jerky’ twice, and sure enough I was right. So I figure this has to be some sort of clue. So then, I started searching for beef jerky companies. I found Smith’s Log Smokehouse (http://logsmokehouse.net/). It’s apparently a semi-popular beef products store/company in rural Maine. I checked their contact us page, and saw that they are in Monroe, ME. I added this to the end of the route that Steven had compiled from the slideshow pictures, and Monroe, Maine is very close to 500 miles from the original starting point. So then I was thinking, since the other two were in state/national park areas, is there any place like this near Monroe? Sure enough, I found a tiny blip on the map: Swan Lake State Park. I checked Google Maps with satellite imagery to try to find the building/barn that the car could be in, and I think it might very well be this: http://g.co/maps/8jkhv . Every location except for the last two is from imagery from the slideshows or official clues.
Hi. The problem over on YouTube is not them blocking you. They block links. If your message includes links, it won’t be passed along. All the best!
Ah, alright. Thanks a lot. Still, think there’s anything in the beef jerky tweets? I don’t think it’s coincidental.
The Shady Lady in Wiscasset
http://www.shopwiscassetantiques.com/ads/shadylady.html
ok i retraced steps….. the call joe bornstein is an attorney at 165 commercial st portland me, 2 doors north is portland me lobster co 180 commercial st. there should be a sign at that point to direct you the rest of the way. after listening to the phone message from the live feed.
someone pls find this i am going nuts here
Lisa. The recording wasn’t well spoken. Apparently you needed to go to Red’s Eats further north. Cheers!
Well….. I’ll let Red’s Eats be my contribution to this party. Right now I want to go and see the new Winnipeg Jets play the Carolina Hurricanes in Charlotte tonight.
Have fun everyone! It’s been a blast!
Cheers!
http://www.shopwiscassetantiques.com/dealers.html
Carly’s a front runner on Twitter.
I think the final few should get invited to compete on Amazing Race
shady lady is SOUTH of red’s eats – whereas “somewhere in time” antiques IS north… per the phone clue (1st phone clue)
I’m thinking they know the distance of the frontrunners because the clues are phone numbers.
44.094457,-69.616496. North of town, looks like the barn.
check this out its near the restaurant, antique shops, and theres a barn!
http://www.pioneermotel.com/
The Shady Lady seems perfect, but its certainly not north of the sign shop.
after examing the video clues and comparing with the live shot, I will say definately it is a prop made to look like wherever the clues were shot. Perhaps it is inside a warehouse which would explain why there are no sounds except what THEY WANT YOU TO HEAR.
If it was a chicken barn…it would be filthy and NOT look like a clean pristine barn. I have chickens….they are gross….old barns also have unevenly worn floors,,,this floor is perfectly flat….more smoke and mirrors?
Maine State Prison Showroom in Warren, ME, en route to Journey End Marina….
The hard labor is the Maine prisons. Convicts make wood furniture to sell. I saw a reference to this earlier in a website that someone here directed us to, but I don’t remember which one
I guess we’ll be ordering pizza for dinner…was about to finally get off my laptop to go to the grocery store when they said the winner was within 15 miles…that was an hour ago. lol
From Dodge: We hear someone is very close. Stay tuned. youtube.com/dodge #JourneySearch Dodge on twitter
Walnut hill Barn looks good but the floors are not tarnished and the floor boards go the wrong way. The car would have to be at the end of the barn and 1 pic of end of barn didn’t show the same backdrop as what is behind the car. It was a chicken coup in past and is rented too just doesn’t match up from pics.
We hear someone is very close. Stay tuned. youtube.com/dodge #JourneySearch
This girl in Rockland is very close. She says she found a clue in Thomaston. She is now in Rockland. All within the last 30 minutes.
Dodge also just posted someone is very close. She is not giving out any clue info.
Paul – off to Thomaston? Will search for antique shops.
Dodge just tweeted
We hear someone is very close. Stay tuned. youtube.com/dodge #JourneySearch
In Thomaston, ME (further along {1}) … there’s Prison State Showroom (woodworking + hard labor?) and right across the street corner, an antique store. No name however, doesn’t appear to be google but seems to be on the right trek. {Personal call is required to travel further north}
Tweet 3 mins ago from @Dodge:
We hear someone is very close. Stay tuned. youtube.com/dodge
Look for the lady whose name rhymes with what she sells, and look in the window. It will probably be another phone number to call for another exclusive clue. The lady probably signed an non-disclosure agreement, so calling the shop and asking her won’t help…even going into her store and asking her won’t help. You probably have to be there in person at the antique store, and find the phone number in the window for the next clue……the Journey must be hidden within a 15-mile radius of Red’s Eats, Wiscassett, Maine.

I’d be checking this place out

Definatelty a created production set. The barn is a replica. Its not the one in the video clips. There are no columns in the clip barn but are in the live feed. The number and construction of the purlins is different for one, as are board width on the board & battans.
Even the sunlight and it’s movement is a college 101 class for any film student. Everyone has been looking for a real & old barn, yet it may not be the case. Renting a warehouse and using it as a film stage would be more cost effective and less liability for the actual property owner. Likewise, it would make finding this one limited to the ones actually out there, limit the webs influence, eliminate any “eyes in the sky”, and maintain the integity of the event, especially after the midwest fiasco.
Junk food for thought.
Doesn’t make sense. The would go to the trouble to make a “replica” but wouldn’t actually replicate it?
Is someone there?? I hear clapping!!
I hear clapping
found?!
it has been found.
Did you hear the whooping??!
Ok charles…….how do you know someone is within 15 mile of the Journey?
false alarm…maybe to throw us off…they didn’t cut off the sound like previous times
Could the set be on the Rockland Ferry?
Reports of clapping and cheering on live feed site but i must have missed it – quiet now.
heard door slide open
Yep, me too!
yes, clapping and cheering….but no one on cam yet
Ferry must be slow
I think it’s over.
ccarp816 carlaLYNNcarpenter
No! No! No! #JourneySearch
Yeah, she was having trouble solving the Rockland, ME clue
Rockland, ME – Journey’s End Marina. It might really be there!!!!!!!!!!!
Go Paul – I hope you can get there!
Maybe it was the chickens getting dressed for dinner.
Antique store in Thomaston, ME = Angeliques (rhymes with antiques) at 159 Main Street, Thomaston ME
Fantastic find Steven!
Do we know where Paul is? He and his wife have been real troopers.
I would love to see them find it.
I heard it too (possibly female woohoo) …my posts are not posting on here for some reason
midwest runner up should get the car, it’s one thing to use insider info to find it like that guy did, its another thing to find it but then decide not to accept it. he wasted everyones time, don’t cheat and then feel guilty when it works. has dodge said anything about what theyre doing with that car? that guy ruined it for everyone out there, can’t trust the cops.
Probably a posse of lawyers & others on hand to vet the potential winner this time to avoid a potential Midwest fiasco. May take some time.
Last week they didn’t show the winner right away, but they did cut the sound for a while. They then changed the banner at the top to “2nd Journey Found.” I hope they don’t do that today. It would be nice to see the person actually be truly surprised.
I think he’s a Ravens fan…they made a touchdown when you heard clapping!
clapping was 10 minutes ago, they should have been on camera by now.
now I hear voices, footsteps and typing on a keyboard.
Allyssa?
melissa
Melissa just claimed her new Dodge Journey
Awesome! Congrats!!!!
Someone named Melissa
Its over
hope Melissa doesn’t live in Portland, ME. That would be a shame
done, “melissa”
Congratulations to the Winner !! Where was it?
Melissa won
Where are they?!?!?!
Anyone from this blog there? I sure hope someone from here won!
Lucky girl! Go Melissa! Glad she found it. This was fantastically fun! Thank you Steven for hosting this great site. We were close!!! I would love to do this again – but NOT from my desk. Have a great week everyone!
Now that that is over, I wonder what we should do this weekend???
CZ, you really crack me up!
Anyone know the winner (Melissa)? Was she here?
Congrats to Melissa for winning a Journey!
[Now, where was that Journey]
Yes, can’t wait to find out! And Steven, I just want to thank you so much for all the time and effort you put into these blogs over the course of the contest. You’ve made it possible for so many of to have such a wonderful experience. A nerdy high-five to you! (That’s me as the nerd, BTW.)
Found by Melissa !
Well, Congrats to Melissa! It’s been a wild ride! Thanks Steven and the rest of the team!!! I hope we find out the final destination.
thanks for the help everyone. apparently it was found, and it wasnt us. take care!
Steven,
Thanks for keeping us posted/focused/upbeat/committed/etc. If Dodge does this again, could you volunteer your time again?
Jim W.
now what do we do?
Well, congrats to Melissa! All you other searchers, you can still be a runner-up if you get to the hidden location. Just in case Melissa decides to decline the prize, or is disqualified for some reason. Please insist that the crew take down your name and contact information as a runner-up!! They didn’t do this in the Midwest, and that’s why there’s still no answers as to whether a runner-up will get the Midwest Journey.
Thank you Steven for hosting this party.

That was the guy’s girl friend
Dodge has posted the full list of clues.
Red’s Eats in Wiscasset was correct.
Then real world clue #1, sign shop in Wiscasset, which led to Real World Clue #2, “Angelique’s Home Furnishings” (Angelique’s antiques), which led to Real World Clue #3, Kenniston Realty in Rockland, ME, and that led to the final location south of Thomaston, ME near the water near Mosquito Harbor.
This Journey was NEVER meant to be found off the first days worth of clues. Kind of SUCKS!
It all ended just like the “LOST” episodes. Go figure, but it was fun.
Thanks Steven.
Hats off to Steven!
Thank you, Steven!!!
Thanks Steven and everyone else! This was so much fun, I’m sorry the Journey had to end
Hats off to Steven!!!!! I had a great time on the East Coast Journey! The first day spent on foot (16 hrs) and the second day by living room. Both days enjoyable and both days were enhanced by this blog session! Congrats to Melissa!
Time to get myself out into the World Wide World
We have a great group here that’s grown considerably over the past week. It’s been an remarkable adventure for those online and in the real world.
Wishing everyone the very best! Cheers!
Steve I want to put out a big thanks! You sparked our creativity and allowed me a wonderful trip yesterday from New Jersey through New York and Vermont. We ending up coming back home in hopes that the “journey” would head south. But I then enjoyed the day today helping those up there come so close. This was a fun adventure that I will never forget and I want to thank you for your time and effort.
Thanks a bunch Brian. Greatly appreciated. It has been MY pleasure working with you.

Kudos for Steven for his work here! The people on the Youtube site were still working on Schroon Lake – LOL
Thanks Deb. Greatly appreciated. And yeah, I saw that … LOL (although I wondered if there was a deliberate delay – controlling posts, etc)
Thanks for being a great (and gracious) host, Steven!
Many thanks Jane. All the best to you!
Call this 888 4279789
Thanks, Steven!
David
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oA89jFFbgXg recap
We headed to Albany from CT convinced that the Journey would end where it began. Exactly where it began! I have a picture of our car in the exact spot the Journey was in when the family left. They used a neighborhood in Albany and my partner Nick was able to locate it using Google in spite of the fact that there was no street view. Directly across the street was a parking garage with a lock box hanging from a lamp. It drove us nuts! The upstairs of the garage was unused and there were lights on. While we soon realized it was unlikely to be up there, the lock box bugged us. We wondered if 4 digits would open it. We even tried 1984 after the Orwell slide. We had our fingers crossed for a loop back to Albany after the slide show. Paradox, after all, is the Indian word for water flowing backward. But it was not to be. Congrats to Melissa and thank you Steven for making this extra fun. We still have questions. Was this the original plan all along? Weren’t the video clues too well done in the barn to have been last minute? Oh! And would you like to see the picture?
Hi Marilyn. Thanks for checking in. Fascinating take. There were a number of theories … many along the lines of ending where IT began (whatever it was). If you have pics, it would be great to share. Cheers!
This was really fun and exciting. Thanks Steven for dedicating the last few weeks to allow us all to follow on an amazing Journey. I hope other companies copy this idea and run similar campaigns. Thank you once again
I can post the Wiscassett and Thomaston clues if you wish. They were in shop windows by Reds Eats and Angeliques Antiques respectively.
Dave. If you have them and can share (pics esp) – that would be great. All the best!
@ccarp816 was very close! She posted the final clue here: http://yfrog.com/z/nteewlhj . The clue shows a picture of the barn and was apparently posted in a the window of a nearby real estate office.
i didn’t get the full pic, but on the bottom it said st. george, me.
Thanks Steve learned a lot, man you must work for the Gov. looking at photos of Afghanistan, It’s been fun, Thanks again
LOL Ed. I’ve heard that before
All the best. Cheers!

Heading home now,…with a new timing belt(our car broke down on the journey) lol~~! and our two very resilient but now exhausted tiny kiddos (ages 1 and 3). Their dad has to get back to DC to go to work in the am or he is usmc ua (awol).
So…. Steven, Man…… Thank you for the Journey!! You were a huge help, not hindrance, and every way, you feel as much a friend in real life as real life friends are. Thanks again for all you help!! Blessins Bro and I will see you on tweleve!
– AmyElizabeth
Hey AmyElizabeth
Thanks for checking in. We were all pulling for you. I’m sure you and everyone else in race would have loved to win … but it sounds like you had a great journey, chock full of memories (and unexpected turns
) It has been an exceptional pleasure getting to know you.
Stay in touch. All the best and cheers!
Steven!! THANK YOU!!! for all your kind help! You did not have to e-mail every single person back, respond to every single message, stay up with us posting info, nor anything else for the matter. I look forward to doing more of these and I’ll see you on tweleve!! You are a gem and honestly…you made my Journey even better!! Thank Friend!

I still want to make the letters from the Wild West sign spell something. As I looked back over my efforts from yesterday, I saw “SIGN STORE.” From the remaining letters we can almost get anGELIQue. But that’s a stretch.
hey im watching the packer game and missed it
! where was it found?
Hey P.S. Steven what show was it that you said you were a part of “Treasure Hunters ?” on NBC or Something? I cant remember what you said… It got cancelled? God I think they should bring it back!!
BTW, With nothing but a U.S. atlas, an old, awkward laptop, (with a dead battery), a basic cell phone and a 1997 Subaru Outback, (my search engine for the “World Wide World”), I missed an exit on the way and ended up in Bethel, VT where I witnessed some of the devastation wrought by Hurricane Irene. Thinking of those people tonight.
Just got back from Rockland. Boots on the ground was a blast! We ran out of the house as soon as the cell number came up on the screen around noon. I recognized it as a local Maine cell #, as I live in the Lewiston/.Auburn area up here. Unfortunately, left the power cord for the Mifi and my laptop at home in our rush! Red’s Eats was an easy one for us, as we had been exploring that area a couple of times earlier this month. There is always a traffic jam in Wiscasset center, so you get to look at everything there as you wait for the cars to start moving again.
I knew about the prison store also, as I had thought about Christmas shopping there a couple of years ago.
Thanks Steven for hosting this site! The virtual hunt was a ton of fun. When we saw it was in Maine this morning, we got really excited!
The last few clues we had to do without internet at all, and it was so much fun. We came within 3 miles of the final destination, just by luck, then had to turn back to get home to let the dogs out. Still, lots of fun and a a great journey. I said to my sister the best thing to do would be to get lost and happen upon it. We were heading down 131, when I figured it was time to turn around for home. We didn’t even have a good map to look at.
On our way up to the Midcoast, two cars passed us going around 90 mph on Route 1. Not cool.
One was from NH and it was a blue dodge with a young dude driving. Racing him was a white SUV with RI plates. People can kind of suck. I’m glad they didn’t hurt anybody. Saw the dude in the blue car pulling out of the Wiscasset street where the sign shop was heading south. Hope he went the wrong way!
There was a young lady sitting on a bench in front of a little building next to the prison woodcraft store in Thomaston. We asked her and she told us about Angelique’s. Saw her tell two others also. We wondered if she just happened to be there, or was part of the hunt.
The Real Estate place was on a corner that you had to drive by because of a detour in Rockland center. Pretty funny.
All in all, what a trip! Thanks again to Steven and everybody. Maybe next time, we’ll get closer…
Home from the hockey game! At least I can say I did SOMETHING besides sit in front of this computer all weekend. LOL!
Thank you Steven Barley…you are a legend in our minds!!!
Whelp, I’m back home after 14 hours on the road chasing clues. The closest I came was finding the sign near Red’s Eats, and then went North on Route 1.
We were looking frantically for antique shops with any sort of rhyming name… but totally missed Angelique’s as we drove through Thomaston. And I had no idea what the hard labor wood working clue was about, I was looking for one of those chainsaw sculptor places… but now I see that the Maine State Prison Workworking museum place was essentially down the street from Angeliques.
So, missing those two clues, we continued down Route 1 for quite a ways chasing ultimately useless clues.
If we had caught Angeliques, it would have been several hours before the find, so we would have had a really good chance, with only the realty place, and then the house remaining. We felt it would definitely be near the water, what with the jet ski theme, so we might have head towards where the house was, can’t say without knowing what the clue actually said.
All in all it was fun, just mad at ourselves for not coming up with Angeliques. It was a really well written clue, because its hard to nail down that name when you’re not 100% sure you’re looking for something that rhymes with Antique, and when the store doesn’t really advertise as an antique store, but a furniture store.
Once we drove by those two places in the real world, we were toast.
Had fun though. Cheers.
Big, public thanks to Steven! You cannot run a promotional contest for a national brand and not expect people to collaborate online. It wasn’t a puzzle made *by* puzzlers *for* puzzlers. It was a commercial promo to raise brand-awareness for a model of car. It was specifically about getting as many people involved as possible, and in as public a manner as possible. Dodge got that, but they weren’t ready to handle it.
People angry about Saturday’s goose chase shouldn’t take issue with Steven or anyone else working together online. Dodge, however, should probably have had someone besides their ad agency help them plan, predict, and execute this promotion. Dodge isn’t used to building anything with fast iterations. They don’t make products where scalability or user load testing is a big issue. If their creative directors had had a background in software product management, they might have known to consider the proverbial “could you handle a million users tomorrow” question, as it could have been anticipated to apply to the Journey search. But what makes people good at creative arts is sometimes the opposite of what makes people good at planning obsessively thorough, detailed specs and requirements.(If Dodge needs a “creative” QA manager the next time around, maybe they’ll call me.
Anyway, it wasn’t Steven’s fault, for sure!
Steven,
Any comment on the fact that this was clearly Dodge’s back pocket plan once all your (and co.) sleuthing deduced the original location? I bet they never expected people to figure things out so fast with the video. Only foul was those individuals that drove up to the original destination and then got the playing field leveled Sunday. I, personally, spent a good bit of time following all of this (actually had much more fun following the MidWest hunt) but glad I never made the decision to drive up to the vicinity of the original location – as I was only 4 hours away but realized something funny was going to happen. Anyway thanks for the fun.
Nothing beyond an acknowledgement that “my diligence kept them on their toes.”
However, I like to look at this way: the treasure hunt evolved, and for the better.
With the first two, after some good detective work of course, you could pretty well pinpoint the location within 20 miles. And if you were a local, like for the West search (and even Midwest search, controversy aside) , you had a considerable advantage in identifying those scenes and tracking down the Journey. And then, it became an Easter Egg hunt.
You also heard a lot of criticism about the campaign message, e.g. “you won’t find any of them online but it might help you figure out where they might be,” when it really was essential to use the World Wide Web to find the Journey in the World Wide World. I didn’t think there was anything wrong at all, however, because not everyone could get out and find one, e.g. they were handicapped, they lived too far away or couldn’t afford it, etc. This was a (clever) marketing campaign, designed to create brand awareness, so engaging a larger, national audience over a regional audience, would translate to campaign success, something in my view, they achieved.
By evolving the hunt into an adventurous race to an unpredictable destination, that span many states, they had held more closely to their message: life (as well as this contest) is a journey, not a destination.
All the best!
Steve,
Here is a picture of the Angelique’s Antiques clue posted by Tobias Walker on Facebook, It was a miniature model of a Journey and a phone number. Looked like just another item for sale in the window!
http://tinyurl.com/3ljheja
Also, you might want to add this to the live feed clue info. When the Dodge guy was eating the lobster roll, he was sitting in a bright red chair. Red seat / Red’s Eats. He made a deliberate show of putting the chair out and letting it stay on camera for a while before he actually sat down in it and started eating the sandwich. For me, this absolutely confirmed Red’s Eats was the place to go to start the real world search.
LOL. I missed that. Great observation and I agree. I was so busy trying to reply to posts, update the blog that I really didn’t get a chance to watch much. They deliberately worded the message as the Red S|eats but it was just an intentional play on words. A good change up from the prior bread crumb trail from VT to ME – it certainly stopped many in their tracks.
Thanks for finding that and passing along. I’ve reached out to Tobias to see if he wouldn’t mind me including on the post. Cheers!
I really wanted to sign up and comment earlier but didn’t want to be actively involved in speculation as I actually went on the search with my family. But I have to say I was a little disappointed at the way they went about with the adjustment.
My family was driven off the road on one occasion in VT when the first route clue appeared and I truly from the bottom of my heart got soooo much more enjoyment on Saturday with starting our day in Shoreham and investigating and being able to take the time to enjoy the scenery. Sunday was like the movie Death race. I came home so exhausted this is the first time I could bring myself to read anything how it ended.
Seeing how they did the end was how they should have done the whole second day. Make people get out and look around. I agree with Steven about the whole educational aspect. It would have been awesome if they did phone in clues but sneak in things like the memorial for so and so in Enfield, VT must be read to complete the address of the next clue. Then have the address lead them to another town and so on. Just something to get people to get out of their cars and read. I mean realistically they could have created a fake band website and sent the guys out begging to put their flyers up as they drove down the road to set up the clues. Then make them say something like awesome concert in such and such memorial park on such and such street, then do another phone number to lead them on.
Now that would have been awesome! We were so close, yet it feels like we were so far away.
Oh and if the guy from Mass in the red SUV with the dog that we chatted with in Vermont is on this site, thank you for being the only truly cordial competitor we came across. We met aside Delong road in Shoreham VT and you were the only one who did not treat us like an enemy with suspicion in your eyes. Perhaps if more folks behaved as you I would have enjoyed this more.
I’ll shut up now
Hi Heather. I’m glad you got out there and gave it go with your family
Hopefully, you caught some sights and made some memories. It’s a shame that some participants lost sight of the real opportunity, to have an adventure while exploring parts of our country. There can only be one winner and if you’re completely consumed with that solitary goal, you’ll come up short every time. Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts and experiences. All the best and cheers!
Hi Steve,
Well I truely did not think I was going to make this Journey, but I did. My wife thought the location to be pegged at the Calvin Coolidge ranch after seeing pictures of the many barns on the property and noting it to be in the town of Plymouth (a gone Chrysler brand). So, I jumped a flight from Orlando at 7pm Fri night and landed in Boston at about 9:30pm. Did not get to the Coolidge ranch until about 2am. No signs of life what so ever!
Back to square one and your page! I slept in the car until about 7am, when I hit the road headed towards Concorde via Woodstock. It was about there that the next clues started coming in and I was already traveling on route 4A.
As the first ‘Call’ clue came up, I was headed towards Rockland. Based on the clue, I figured they were saying ‘the red jeeps’. That took me to a jeep dealer along US1. Nope. Then the chatter started about Red’s Eats, both here and on the Dodge page. Bingo! Only about 12min from my current location and I was off.
Sadly, it seemed that is where the trail went cold on the internet:-( Those of us who were inspired by your site and used it as our biggest tool got greedy, myself included. I was, from my estimates on the scene, about the 5th person at the sandwich board. I did see Melissa there as well in town (I should have hitched my wagon to that star
. But, it seems that with the scent of blood in the air no one cared to share this clue or the next until it was too late. I would wager that if shared, myself and a few others would have benefited from your page again and been on our way.
I was looking for the realtor clue when Melissa found the car. Kudos to both her and you for being terrific sleuths!
I flew back home on Sunday at 8am. My only regret was the huge speeding fine I got in NH. The officer told me he had heard no chatter on the radio about any free car:-( Everything was beyond fair and the car was anybody’s. You just had to physically be there!
Hi Raj. Glad you made the trip (and you’re the second person that I’m aware of who traveled from Florida). You were definitely in the hunt
Sadly, in the eleventh hour of the race, after they switched to real world clues, stalled by red seats, solid information was scarce and speculation was rampant (something I prefer to avoid). I was thrilled to have someone finally share the clue from the sign shop but time was fleeting.
Regardless, it sounds like you had quite a memorable adventure … except for ticket, of course
Thanks for sharing your story. All the best! Steve
